You should check your course handicap with the ESC max score. I’ve found the best way to get snowmen off your card is to have your max allowable score be a 7.

I was unaware of that. Upon closer inspection that snowman should have been marked a 7.

I’ve never been one to take a max score. I’ve always just golfed my ball until I got it in the hole and marked whatever I came up with. I’ve carded an 11 on a par 3.

  2. Yea that’s my plan for this off season: take a handful of lessons and go to CC for an iron fitting. I’m long enough off the tee and usually in the fairway, so it I can start converting those into more GIRs I should be able to  make a big leap in my scores.

  3. I still hit a taylormade burner superfast 3w that I bought in I think 2010, still love it. Until I got my m4 driver, that 3w off the deck was my favorite shot to hit.

I need to get my iron play figured out. My scoring average by par:

    3 - 4.6

    4 - 5.3

    5 - 5.3

Im just as likely to make a 4 from the fairway from 230 with a 3w as I am from 130 with a pw.

My current fairway rate is 66%.

    GIR rate is 23%.

And my iron misses are all over the place. Slices, hooks, fat, thin, shanks. I haven’t been on the green in regulation on a par 3 in at least 2 full rounds.

I haven't been watching the tournament, but what's Tiger doing at T145 (+7) and McElroy at T150 (+8)?  Yesterday on the Golf Channel Darren Clarke said that the course set up favored Tiger hitting his long irons off the tee.  He said a great iron player, like Tiger, would do very well just keeping his tee shots in the fairway.  They must be missing fairways.

Tiger said yesterday that his long game wasn’t where it needed to be. Missed fairways and errant long irons out of the fairways he did find led to a sting of bogies. Missed putts made sure he never got anything back.

And 7 of Rory’s +8 came on his first and last hole.

  5. As a counterpoint to jhawk’s nice round, I shot a 90 with 39 putts. 22 putts on the back. Hit 12 fairways. I gave myself back to back eagle putts and walked away with par on both holes. I’ve never had more fun driving the ball. Just crushing it down the fairway. And then took a big wet shit on the greens.

Wow. I probably average 30-31 putts per round. I couldn’t imagine 3 putting more than 2-3 times in a round. I’d lose my mind. Last year I averaged around 35 putts per round and I was pissed at myself.

I certainly wasn’t happy about it. I average around 35, so 10 over that made for a long day.

My business partner shot a 95 with FORTY FOUR putts a week or so ago.  I've never heard of anyone going over 38 putts.  44 is practical joke bad.  He had to have been putting with Happy Gilmore's hockey putter or something.

I had consecutive rounds last season with 43 and 45 putts. The round with 45 putts was a 95 that included 7 GIR and 9 three putts. I put that putter into the basement closet and have not touched it since.

No email yet, so I logged into the Masters website. Not selected again this year. I assume I’ll get the rejection email tomorrow.

You can log into your account on the website and see.

  9. I won Tuesday tickets for 2018. The 3 guys I went with all agreed that if any of us won that same group would be going back. Just got the word that we’ll be going on Monday next year.

Was checking out the list. Thought it might be cool to see which courses people have played:

    I’ve played:

Alotion Club, Castle Pines, Pebble, Spyglass, Oak Tree National, Southern Hills, Prairie Dunes, Whispering Pines, Dallas National, Butler National, Shadow Creek, TPC Sawgrass

    Others of note:

Karsten Creek, Isleworth, TPC San Antonio,  TPC Scottsdale

Have Bandon trip planned in February, so I’ll knock those 4 out.

Pretty good read about a guy that played all 100 in a single  year.

Why can our President barely talk? Has anyone ever been around someone with his education level that couldn’t speak English properly?

This is serious question: why is his language  competency that of a 4th grader? Has he always been like that?

    One of his best moments:

“Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you’re a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are — nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.”

That video makes me even more mad about the finale. Dude was such a badass for most of the series and they sent him out like a bitch.

He should have had one last epic battle with greyworm after knifing Dany. At the counsel of Westeros everyone is more than happy to kneel to him but he says nay and rolls out into the north of his own volition like a boss. Not because bitchass greyworm says he has to and then immediately takes his whole crew across the ocean.

    This is a little off.

No one knows exactly what the prequels are about, but GRRM said his title for the one that’s currently being casted would be the “Long Night,” meaning it’s about the last time the white walkers came south, which is thought to be 4,000 - 8,000 years ago and likely includes Bran the Builder becuase the Wall was built right after the Long Night.

Thanks. What I had read must have mistakenly assumed the one moving forward was based off the book he was finishing about the Targaryens.

Without D&D doing and rushed writing, I’m on board for whatever is released.

Agreed.  Sad that it has come to an end.  Did I hear that they are creating a prequel series set like a thousand years prior?

300 years. GRRM said that there were 5 spinoff ideas pitched, 3 were approved. 2 are staying in script form for now, 1 is in production. About the original Targaryen conquest of Westeros 300 years earlier.
