  1. The transphobia ad is the stock ad for live sports. I assume it tests well with the anti-lgbt men. on non-sports tv the anti-immigrant ads are the default. Scaring the least Hispanic part of the country that it’s just a matter of time until we’re overrun. I assume that’s why they pushed the Springfield story so hard. To scare white people that don’t know any brown people.
  2. I see the ad about trans inmates probably 15-20 times every football game. There are only two types of ads he plays up here. That one and a variety about illegals destroying everything. Raping, murdering, spreading fentanyl everywhere, but also taking up all of the jobs and houses.
  3. Why the fuck does the news media have to be so hyperbolic? I just heard someone refer to this as a “once in a thousand year weather event”.
  4. So its movement has sped up? Hopefully the amount of time that areas spend under hurricane force winds will be greatly diminished. Eyewall already coming on shore apparently, hours ahead of schedule.
  5. It’s definitely going to be a factor. Registered Muslim voters in 2020 was 206,050. Turnout in 2020 was 145,620 (71%). Up from 108,419 in 2016 where the MOV for Trump was 10,704. I can’t wrap my head around a protest non-vote that could give the win to a party that despises you. Writing in uncommitted in the primary, ok, send your message. Sitting out the general election to help Trump sends no message and moves the country away from policies that would be beneficial to the things that are important to you.
  6. Adding some numbers to that. If 36% of the 158,672 people that voted for Haley in the PA primary vote for Harris, that’s 57,121 votes. Biden’s margin of victory in 2020 was 80,555. it would be over 100,000 votes in Michigan. 90,000 votes in NC.
  7. They’re on the map with Brockway, Ogdenville, and North Haverbrook.
  8. Unfortunately that new track takes it directly over my friends house and his wife’s business. He works for a specialty pharmacy company and after Ian he was driving around with his chainsaw and a couple hundred thousand dollars of cancer meds in his truck to get to patients houses when their currier paused operations. He’s staying behind, I assume planning on doing the same thing in the aftermath. Hopefully it’s not the wrong decision.
  9. Current track spares Tampa from the storm surge.
  10. I have a good friend in Palmetto. His in laws have a house on the intracoastal somewhere between your condo and Clearwater. I’ve been there, but I was too drunk to remember where exactly.
  11. Will you lose the feed when the power goes out?
  12. One of my best friends lives just north of the manatee river. Asked him if he’s staying or going. “Staying. We’re above where any storm surge can get to. As long as the roof stays on we’re good.” His wife’s business in Bradenton might end up under water. The house he lived in a couple years ago in palmetto will almost certainly be under water if the current track holds.
  13. Current surge forecast. https://cera.coastalrisk.live/s/b8dd
  14. Don’t you know? All flags against the cowboys, especially when they’re playing the Steelers are horrible calls, the league trying to elevate the Steelers over Dallas.
  15. You’ll see more and more homes without insurance and then when a hurricane comes through and destroys a neighborhood a bunch of them won’t bother repairing/rebuilding. Then home values will tank in neighborhoods where no one wants to buy in a place where a bunch of the houses are falling down.
  16. The Steelers offense has become so unbelievably risk averse the last few years. They do everything they can to win games 12-9.
  17. My favorite rain game fiasco was a Monday night game Steelers vs Miami. Used to be that Heinz field would replace the sod the week after the western pa high school playoffs had 4 games in a day on the field. But the remnants of a hurricane coming through prevented the replacement of the turf so they just laid a second layer of sod over the top of the old stuff. A rain delay right before the game meant that the center of the field was a layer of grass over 6 inches of mud. Guys would try to cut and sink to their calf in mud. Punts were plugging halfway down the ball where they landed.
  18. Texags early vote tracking thread is just constant comparison to 2020. Republicans and whites are KILLING it in mail in voting compared to 2020. With absolutely no awareness of any difference in the anything between then and now, they are convinced Trump is winning bigly in PA, GA, and NC. Zero recognition that it was the Republican state house that pushed mail in voting in 2019 because it benefits rural olds. They are convinced Trump is winning Virginia. Early voting turnout strong in SW Virginia!! The right wing media sources are already crafting the narrative that Trump was on track to win BIGLY u til the cheating started.
  19. Storm has passed. Still a little rumbling but it’s fading. Rain down to a drizzle.
  20. My 8 year old daughter is now legitimately afraid of me voting for bob Casey because McCormick is running an ad tying Casey to an illegal immigrant that raped an 8 year old girl during kids shows. the worst fucking people.
  21. Wordle 1,205 X/6 ⬛⬛🟨🟨🟨 ⬛🟨🟨🟨⬛ ⬛🟩⬛🟩🟩 ⬛🟩⬛🟩🟩 ⬛🟩🟩🟩🟩 ⬛🟩🟩🟩🟩
  22. Just jumping into this thread now. How many times has someone declared that the game was over in bama’s favor?
