  1. I was attending a football game several years ago at Michigan. Let's just say there was "extensive" tailgating beforehand, and I may have partaken. At some point, after an exciting play where my team (not Michigan) scored to take the lead, everyone was high-fiving and yelling in my section, and a person I don't know in the row behind me talks excitedly to me for 20-30 seconds or so. I couldn't understand almost anything he was saying, but the gist was that he was excited and happy. My good-natured comment to him: "Whoa, I guess you've had plenty to drink, huh?" I turn around and sit down. Wife of my college roommate looks at me with utter horror on her face and says "turn around and look at the person behind you, but be discrete." I do, and it's a teenaged boy with Down's syndrome. His mother was shooting me, shall we say, daggers from the eyeball area. Felt about 2 inches tall.
  2. I have a Genesis Platinum that turned 19 years old TODAY. While I haven't moved, it's been uncovered that entire time and is still in good shape. I've replaced the burners and grates a couple times, have a single broken knob and igniter, but still works like a charm. The actual grill box warped enough that the grates would fall in after about 13 years. Called them up and they replaced it for free (warranty on that is lifetime). So, if that's where you have rust, it might be the same for you.
  3. There's always room to get even better.
  4. My dad said that a lot, usually when we were complaining about how early he thought we should leave for an airport.
  5. Could play that thing with my eyes closed and still dominate. Bought one off the interwebs last year for nostalgia. Can still do the eyes closed thing.
  6. I have been very surprised by the amount of disgust expressed by some of my friends at the idea. I find it delicious.
  7. Runny yolk eggs atop pancakes. Syrup over the whole thing.
  8. Fun fact: no SECSECSEC team has ever lost a bowl game they wanted to play.
  9. drop them peanuts and add cashews, and now you're talkin'
  10. Not really (and no, not 1 chance that Frost is gone). Team wanted to play the SEASON. They have done so, are now 3-5, and don't see much additional reason to play a meaningless bowl (travel, quarantine in hotel, play in front of an empty stadium, etc.) I have no issue with this decision, or the decision of any team in a similar circumstance. It's not even like a normal year, where you might get in several weeks of extra practice. You will get a handful of practices in many cases.
  11. Well no, the "fucking purpose of the conference champ game" is to determine, you know, the conference champ. On the other hand, I agree. Especially in the case where the conference championship game is a blowout.
  12. Nebraska with the coveted "3pm on a workday" slot this Friday.
  13. According to the Big Ten, "a team must play at least six games to be considered for participation in the championship game. However, if the average number of conference games played by all teams falls below six, with the average rounded up/down at .50 (i.e. 6.50 or greater would round up to 7, 6.49 or less would round down to 6), then teams must play no less than two fewer conference games than the average number of conference games played by all teams (i.e. four games played if the conference average is six)to be considered." So, has nothing to do with "the majority of the rest" play 6 or not. It's the average number played. Might be correlated somewhat, but different. Even that's confusing, because it says "if the average ... falls below 6", but then uses 6.50 and 6.49 as examples. Who here thinks that, if an undefeated OSU is only looking to get 5 games played, that a number of other games just "might happen to get cancelled out of concern for student-athlete well-being", so that the average number can get to 7.49 or lower?
  14. "And we'd like to announce the winner of the 'Design a USF Uniform' competition. We're so proud of the winner, who is blind!" "Let's give it up for her unique 'let's put some kind of lime green squiggly-looking sperm thing on the side of the shoulders' idea"
  15. You might be right that a lot of people might grudgingly agree a the decision to go for two, even if the play didn't work. But, generally it's a toss-up if you go into overtime. After all, you played to a draw over 60 minutes, so at least that day the teams are evenly matched. When you have all of the momentum (e.g., after coming back from 14 points down in the last several minutes), the odds of winning in overtime likely go up dramatically. Their defense hasn't even stopped you recently. While the odds of a successful two-point conversion are likely STILL well below 50% (I read at one point that in general they are around 35%). That's my rationale anyway.
  16. Let's all be honest: regardless of which decision Herman made (go for two at ANY point, or don't), as long as the game was lost as a result most of the same people (you know who you are) would be saying he made the wrong call, and it was obviously wrong. I still think not going was the right call, but still think he's bad and he should feel bad.
  17. FOWTBS. Not a Herman fan, but going for 2 makes no sense for a coach, unless he HAS to. You don’t make it, it was CLEARLY a mistake. Because in retrospect it’s easy to say what was “right”
  18. Less games = no warts exposed? Logic seems ... iffy I mean, I guess if you play one really really good game, then the rest get cancelled, someone COULD claim that the team deserves to be in the playoff. That person would be an idiot. However, I certainly am not of the mind that ALL teams need to play the same number of games to get considered. Needs to be in the same ballpark, though. Because the whole shitshow of a playoff system is subjective and political to begin with. What's a little more?
  19. Got me a small, 1/2lb Pullman loaf pan. Got tired of making big loaves and having to freeze parts of them since my wife and son aren’t the biggest homemade bread fans (I know). Have used it a few times so far to make sourdough discard sandwich bread, and love it. Something about the “Borg Bread Cube” is satisfying to me, and the way that the loaf ends up soft, but not too airy makes the toast just excellent. Here I show a breakfast egg sandwich I made that was awesome (forgive Kraft single, was all I had at the time. But it did FIT the bread perfectly at least).

  22. That's my point as well. If college campuses were closed, then no football makes some sense. If campus is open, playing football, in my opinion, adds ZERO risk. Both for the players and the people they interact with. Coaches and others can opt out, but they are being paid. If you need to be "onsite" to do your job, then do it or quit.
