    USMNT 2022

That’s two that Weah should have served up to CP to finish. Thankfully we buried this one.

    USMNT 2022

Weah has to put that on a plate for CP…
  3. If Bama has either of Metchie or Williams this isn’t even close. If Georgia can’t win this one, Smart needs to start considering his next job options.
  4. My son is going into his third year at UT, 6’ tall and weighs 130 pounds. He played soccer in HS so his metabolism was understandable, but now he just smokes weed and still can’t put on weight.
  5. I should probably add, rent a small car, especially if you’re going to roam the west coast areas around Doolin and Dingle. We had a Mercedes C class and at times we were scraping the mirrors on the hedges and walls. Next trip I’ll be getting a Mini Cooper or something comparable.
  6. Yup, rent a car. We drove from Dublin to Doolin, then Dingle, then the ring before closing out in Galway and rented B&Bs as we chose destinations for the day. When we go back we will spend the entire time on the west side of the isle. I loved Dingle and plan on spending more time there and Galway/Connemara. Outside of the museums Dublin was the least enjoyable part of the trip.
  7. So semi-serious question about the immigration thing. Why don’t you see Western Europeans immigrating in droves to take advantage of OP’s list? My extended German family has never once considered moving to the states despite all the taxes, regulations, socialized medicine, etc they have to “endure.” the US isn’t a point of ignorance for them, they vacation here every other year roughly and have seen more of the US than I have. TFG touched on this at one point complaining about the lack of immigrants not coming from shithole countries IIRC. We attract a fuck ton of immigrants, but they are usually coming from third world countries. Why don’t we see Europeans freeing themselves from the shackles of big gov’t to come to the US?
  8. Temple main. They changed the traffic pattern to route you around the right side of the main building to do all the checks before you could park. Granted, I haven’t been there in 6+ months, so maybe something changed recently. The temple satellite clinic near cinemark on 35 was also checking at the door since they were in a shared parking lot.
  9. German braised rabbit, potato balls, and green beans are my contribution. Wife’s family is bringing some kind of beef roast, corn beef and cabbage, don’t know what else. My brother’s family is bringing deviled eggs and dessert.
  10. Yea, it was really weird, even more so with the complete lack of anything to get into the facility. I can’t even get into the VA parking lot without a temp check and question screening.
  11. Thanks man. It is really confusing, I always equated smoke ring to smoke penetration in the meat. I assumed my previous attempts were due to the shorter smoke times, but this went 8 hours and still nothing. Wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing something wrong. It was amazing only having to go out there to spritz the meat every hour or so late in the cook.
  12. Yea, insulated cabinet smoker. I guess the other big change was moving from lump to briquette charcoal when I stopped using my offset. The flavor is great, I can definitely taste the smoke, just weird not seeing the smoke ring anymore.
  13. Turned out great, but I’m noticing I don’t get a noticeable smoke ring cooking with this ICS. Is that normal or is there something significantly different you have to do from an offset? I’m cooking on charcoal with fist sized chunks of post oak thrown on top of the coals in a U shaped burn.
  14. They never asked her vaccination status and it’s not on file with the hospital AFAIK. She didn’t get any vax through S&W. Paper masks still blows my mind even if they are only allowing vaccinated patients. How is N95 not the standard in a hospital setting?
  15. So did Texas hospitals just say fuck it or is this a Scott and white temple thing. Wife had shoulder reconstruction today. No COVID tests required before surgery. No temp checks when we came in, none of the standard questions. Most docs and nurses are wearing standard paper masks, no KN-95s.
  16. Isn’t the % of deaths being unvaccinated well north of 95% since the vaccine has been readily available? Didn’t Biden mandate vaccines up to, and beyond depending on the courts, his legal ability? What cards does he have left to play to get vaccination rates higher?
  17. I wish the state would revisit the disabled vet tax exemption for those under 100%. VA loans go up to a million dollars now, but the max exemption at 99% is $12k from the total home value. It hasn’t scaled in relation to the loan values and the ratio is getting absurd.
  18. His biggest strengths don’t translate to the NFL. He’s a recruiter that relies on a talent advantage over other teams and he’s a hard-ass on his players. The former doesn’t exist in the league beyond teams striking gold in the draft, and even then it’s very short lived because of the salary cap. The latter rarely ever works in the modern game because it has to still be respectful of the grown ass men it’s being applied to. Belichik is the only guy I can think of that’s carried it off. He also surrounded himself in college with really good staff. Those guys were good recruiters and college coaches. Again, I don’t think his eye for talent translated to the NFL. X’s and O’s were secondary in the college game. That’s all that matters for an NFL coach, especially at the coordinator level. He was in over his head from day one, but those paychecks will soothe whatever embarrassment he got out of this.
  19. Next market you’re in find a hard candy stand and buy some zweibel candy. It’s weird, but good. Did I mention weird?
  20. One of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve ever been to was in Munich.
  21. They are claiming 500k in damage, so in theory it cost more than that.
  22. The rare earth metal problem keeps us (and most of the first world economies) from having any serious cards to play with China even if we could somehow wean ourselves off their cheap labor and manufacturing. We would have to convince Europe to eat even higher petrol prices to have any significant impact on Russia. We have to be willing to eat some serious economic damage in order to truly punish China, same with Europe and Russia. We can’t even stomach single digit inflation, so maybe bullets and nukes flying is the more likely scenario.
  23. I agree, that’s why I expressly said to incentivize gun registration, not make it mandatory. The carrot is a reduction in gun insurance, or a reduction in criminal or civil penalties if the gun is used in a crime. The stick is stiffer penalties for unregistered/uninsured guns being used in a crime. It’s still completely voluntary, but rational people will choose to register and insure. I also completely agree that some people and/or guns are extremely unlikely to be involved in a crime. They can roll the dice on not registering or insuring just like someone operating a car. I don’t see how a red flag law would have prevented the Crumbley school shooting. By the time he got on the schools radar it was already too late (assuming no additional stuff comes out). In fairness, there’s no guarantee that registration and/or insurance would either, his parents are fucking idiots. It will take some people being made examples of before this shit starts having an effect on shitty gun ownership. You will also need to stand up an entire new law enforcement agency just to deal with investigating/enforcing red flag laws if they are tied to school discipline. The volume of kids saying and doing dumb shit that would likely meet the criteria of getting guns removed from their home is significant.
  24. I think 2 is way more important than 1. There’s no reasonable way to impact gun access in this country. Any attempts at restricting access is just a Republican/NRA fundraising wet dream. Don’t even talk about sales restrictions, just focus on registration/licensing, tying criminal acts to the weapon owner, and education. Put a fat ass subsidy in there to the NRA and others for increasing education resources. Put another subsidy in there for existing gun owners to get a free gun safe(s) after registering their existing weapons. I’m a big proponent for mandatory insurance, and maybe we tie gun registration and gun storage to zeroing out that insurance. your weapon is used in a crime and it didn’t have insurance and registration? Make it similar to a DUI where it’s a $10k+ bill and year long slog through the criminal system to even attempt to clear your name. You forfeit your weapons during that process as well. Incentivize registration without making it mandatory. Stuff like that helps reduce the FUD campaign from the right and shows that the effort is focused on gun safety, not punishing gun owners, or the dreaded slippery slope on disarming America.
  25. Florida looked good before the the Oklahoma game, top 20 in kenpom and had solid adjusted O and D numbers. Whatever shooting aids they picked up in Norman carried back to Gainesville. 17% from 3 in Norman, 20% at home last night. from what I’ve read they were bricking shots in warmups too. What’s crushing is how the defense has suddenly evaporated. Texas Southern scored at will and beat them on the boards. That’s the part that’s inexcusable and why Mike White is probably being replaced at the end of the year barring a decent run in the dance. Based on last night I have concerns that we even make the dance now.
