  1. I guess in fairness to fatty though, they started this ball rolling with Trump. Not sure why we expect them to hold some podunk house rep to a higher standard than the president. They sold their soul 4 years ago, MTG is the first of many.
  2. Absolutely what the framers intended when writing the constitution.
  3. They have made Trump king maker. If he denounced her she would get dropped in a second. They made a crazy guy that likes crazy people the shot caller. The mid terms are going to be popcorn worthy. An army of MTGs are going to kiss the ring trying to primary everyone, and Trump will eat it up.
  4. I think I’d take that lot over Desantis, Gaetz, Rubio, and Scott.
  5. so maybe I’ll get $70 this time around. 😂
  6. It should definitely have some kind of COLA adjustment at a minimum. Anyone with a current unemployment claim should automatically get the max. I also wish someone would explain to me how a child in college isn’t eligible for shit when that’s probably the highest expense you have for a kid after diapers and day care. They also are the ones generally fucked by the downturn in retail, hospitality, and food service jobs.
  7. The Rs have been framing this argument since before the inauguration. They will force the “deep state / swamp” left to “cancel” her and add it to their list of grievances. Surprised she played the Jesus card this early, but I guess we have to cut her some slack. She is new and doesn’t have the whole playbook yet.
  8. I heard some senator say something along the lines of a couple making $300k with 3 kids were getting thousands of dollars in Covid relief. We make slightly more than half that as a couple ($180ish), no minor kids, and I got a $35 check last month. Does the money for minor children not get run through the income scaling or something? The alternative is the Republican senator was lying, which is crazy talk, right?
  9. Got shot one of Pfizer January 15th. Total fluke, friend of my SIL texted her because of a rash of no shows so my brother, SIL, and I all got it. Wound up getting it a day ahead of my 65 YO mom. We are both scheduled for shot 2 on the 9th.
  10. Unprovoked meaning they didn’t take the first shot via Twitter. She is still reacting to something, not coming out of the blue and laying into them.
  11. I guess I just don’t see the comparison to a real attack dog like Matt Gaetz or Gym Jordan. I don’t see AOC on prime time shows blowing bullshit party positions. I don’t see AOC making the rounds on the Sunday morning shows hammering the other party. Has she taken some shots at Trump, Cruz, Or Hawley unprovoked? Yes, but it’s also usually following some serious shit that impacts her or the country at large. I think Ted Lieu and Adam Schiff are more attack dogs for the left than AOC is.
  12. It’s funny that you think there’s any significant portion of the right agreeing with the left about rich people getting screwed. Ted agrees with anything that’s trending on Twitter, because he likes to frame himself as a populist. He even said something supporting unions in one of his snarky replies to AOC. He will talk out of both sides of his mouth when it comes to actual legislation though, and fall back on blaming someone else for not being able to help the little guy.
  13. Not sure that's really accurate. Responding to constant attacks doesn't make you an attack dog. I mean, you admit as much by using the term clap-back. Thats a counter punch, not an attack. I'm not an avid C-span watcher or AOC fanboi (recovering republican), but I have seen quite a few clips of her in session and she more than holds her own as a legislator. She's informed on the topics, and isn't just throwing up sound bites or party lines like a ton of people in the house. Contrast her with someone like Marsha Blackburn and tell me who the better legislator is.
  14. My 90 year old grandmother in Germany had her appointment dropped because of vaccine shortage (rescheduled for the 1st). It is super shitty.
  15. Man I wish I could get on board, but I feel like suffering is baked into the system because of greed. For every good kid with an expanded worldview there seems to be a dogshit media influencer that cares more about likes and follower counts than anything else. I’m also worried about the apathy that our system drives. Electoral college drives reduced turnout in elections. Reduced turnout favors the olds, especially at the local level. Local politics drives gerrymandering and all the state bullshit that feeds up into national politics. I also think that as smart as our kids are, there’s a lot of entitlement and apathy towards that technology that’s carrying them to new heights. For every STEM kid there’s probably 5 that couldn't tell you the difference between WiFi and cellular data on their phone. It’s all just “internet.” Those are the kids that see all social media as “news” and fall down the Q rabbit holes. I hope I’m just a pessimist and you’re right though.
  16. I live in central Texas, Killeen / Hood area specifically. I don't get as much exposure as you do driving uber but my side gig doing LV work I see lots of subs and homeowners, and of course, lots of soldiers and their families. Trumpism is alive and well with people younger than me (mid 40s). Plenty have the AOC/Pelosi should be hung mentality, and its not just whettos. I also see a lot of mask-deniers in stores that I lump into extremism. That's definitely a judgement by me, but I doubt there are many mask deniers driving trucks with "come and take it" and "trump/pence no more bullshit" stickers that don't subscribe to trump extremism. Regardless of how many "normal" Rs under 30 you are interacting with, they aren't the ones that are running for and winning these congressional seats. They aren't the driving voices for that party, and wont be able to steer that party from the back. Until they show up and change things, Ill believe what they are showing us.
  17. Its nice to think its a generational thing, but the younger generations of Rs are some of the worst examples of extremism in that party. Maybe they are playing to the boomer base, but I doubt they shift much as they gain and attempt to hold onto power. The persecution card seems to be their biggest play, which naturally leads to a fight or die mentality. Accountability has become cancel culture. Maintaining the separation of church and state guard rails has become christian persecution. Enforcing laws against sexual or racial discrimination has become judicial activism. Teaching science or fact based curriculum has become indoctrination. MSM doesn't matter anymore, social media is the bigger threat. FN is doing its best to try to hang onto their boomer viewers, but they arent the real driver for the crazy anymore. They are reacting to and maintaining trends, not setting them. Social media drove trump into office, it was more responsible for 1/6 than the MSM, and will be responsible for the next big event that domestic terrorists attempt. I'm just happy that FN hasn't done the math and tried to launch its own social media platform to fill the parler void.
  18. Well I wasn't depressed before, but now I'm teetering. Thanks OP. I keep hoping the adults in the R party will take charge, but I've been replaying that hope since 2015. Yea, he's getting a lot of coverage, but there's no way the party will let him get the nomination. Yea, he talks a lot of shit, but the Rs will surround him with a strong cabinet and keep him in line. Yea, he strong armed his cabinet, but congress will do its duty and keep him in line. Yea, congress kowtowed to him, but next election will emphatically reject trumpism and give the dems a clear mandate. Im currently on yea, trump lost, and now the old guard Rs will seize the opportunity to reestablish control over the party. Mitch seemed to be leaning that way, but it feels like the football is being yanked away again.
  19. This is pretty close to what we do. We drop potatoes and orange halves first. Green onions, sausage, and artichokes 5-10 minutes later. We usually do an additional dump of spice before the bugs to offset everything the veggies have soaked up. We also drop in butter, the idea is it helps move/bind the seasoning to the meat. No idea if that's true, but it tastes good, so whatever. We don't have a massive pot, so it usually takes us two runs to cook a sack. Second batch gets another big spice dump and soak at the end. First batch is mom/kid friendly, second batch brings some heat. We are also pro spice sprinkle after dumping in the cooler. May not get into the bugs, but it gets on the sides and your fingers as you eat, so you get value out of it no matter what.
  20. My guess is the MRNA vaccines are probably not something that most normal pharmaceutical production companies are set up to do. I don’t think this as simple as changing a factory line to stamp metal a different way to make airplane parts. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t push, but it’s not something that will happen in a week realistically.
  21. Unity benchmark reporter round two asking Biden directly. She’s from WaPo.
  22. I dont believe so, it was a woman reporter. Ducy was there for Fox.
  23. When you get the chance to join an elite strike force, you have to answer the call.
  24. A reporter asked Psaki for benchmarks on achieving unity. They just can’t help themselves.
