  1. I think her campaign is absolutely counting on push back by the media and the left. She needs that validation that the left is "their" opponent, the trumpy right needs a fight because they don't really have any platform. I would hope the media wouldn't give her that fuel and free airtime, but who are we kidding. She's easy to dunk on, so they will, and the right will be able to crank up the outrage machine and protect 'Murica from radical socialism. In Arkansas.
  2. Disagree. There are lots of smart motherfuckers that didn’t matriculate for reasons other than intelligence. A HS diploma though? Yea, that should be a requirement. Some type of civics test or class should also be a requirement. Maybe make the citizenship test mandatory so dumb motherfuckers like Tubbs get weeded out early.
  3. So is there any legal distinction between journalism and opinion WRT how someone could blunt FN's disinformation? I know 1A / free press is sacrosanct, but FN uses it as a shield for their propaganda opinion wing, and that is only growing because of the threat from OAN and Newsmax. They fired the journalists that (rightly) called Arizona for their network. They are replacing their only primetime news slot with another opinion show. This problem is only going to get worse. I want someone like Katie Porter to dig into FN execs and make them reveal under oath what hosts and shows are opinion versus news, but I know that would be crushed by the right as congress attacking the free press. Could congress pass something that requires a clearer distinction for opinion shows, print, etc? Like any opinion show must have a chyron that plainly states OPINION as long as that segment or show is in that mode? I know newspapers have opinion pages, but other forms of media have blurred that line intentionally. FN, OAN, and Newsmax are amplifiers at best for the right, and most of the time actually cross the line into disinformation and outright lies that leads to shit like 1/6.
  4. This, plus she may be telling the truth. The obvious next question is, "Did your family attend the event on 1/6?" My guess is the family didn't fly in just for her, it was a whole big MAGA week.
  5. Yea, it’s trump in a nutshell. “I want a 21 gun salute, military band, let’s really class this shit up before I ride out on AF1. Oh, and let’s play some village people to close things out, bitches love village people.”
  6. I was answering Biff's question. In theory, he could sit on the pardons until right before the inauguration. He has the power as long as he is president. The later they come out, the worse I expect them to be.
  7. 8AM tomorrow. Giving the WH staff 5 hours to prep it for Biden moving in. Asshole to the very end.
  8. Hawley already saying he won’t back a fast appointment for Biden’s DHS pick. Guess he decided he can’t turn back now even if he wanted to, so he’s going full bore Trump.
  9. I don't think they offer much without getting to the bottom and engaging the toggle bolts to lock it in place. These aren't meant to be part of an active event deterrence. They are supposed to be closed before someone gets to that area. Just more evidence that there was zero coordinated response, or more likely, an intentional lack of response. Those should have started closing when people breached the barriers on the edge of the capitol grounds. I doubt we ever see the real AAR on everything because of the security aspects, but everyone in any management position for the capitol police needs to burn. You either grossly undertrained, had horribly underprepared policies and procedures, or actively supported the coup. There really aren't any other options.
  10. I need someone to connect the dots. How would the 2020 election invalidate the congresspersons that weren't up for election exactly? How would this lead to the entire congress being barred?
  11. Yea, the amount of SIGINT and ECM that will be in DC is going to be oppressive. I have a feeling cell coverage is going to be very sporadic on the 20th.
  12. I love Albert Einstein as much as the next guy, but how is he an American hero exactly? He was a citizen for only 15 of his 76 years on this earth, and I think all his achievements were prior to his US citizenship. He will look great next to Kobe Bryant and Stormin Norman though.
  13. The longer he holds these pardons, the worse I expect them to be.
  14. German 90 YO grandmother update: her appointment got cancelled due to shortage of vaccine. I feel fairly confident it’s because Pfizer is diverting more vaccine to the US because our dumb asses won’t wear masks and our hospitals are at the breaking point. Feels bad man.
  15. Can the trials be spread across other federal courts if the charges are all federal, or do they have to occur in DC? I assume all the charges will all be federal since it involves the capitol?
  16. I walked in and got dose 1 of Pfizer in Killeen. Someone that used to work with my SIL gave us the heads up that there were a bunch of no shows today and to come down. I think there were as many walk-ins as appointments while we were there (two different check in stations). It’s pretty weird that I’m getting a shot before my 65 YO mom (her appointment is tomorrow). The second dose stuff is a little sketchy. They said to call in a week or two to make an appointment, because the number isn’t working yet, and they don’t know when they will have their second doses available.
  17. For those frustrated with our vaccine rollout, I found out today that my 90 year old grandmother in Germany still hasn't been vaccinated. She doesn't live in a nursing home, and actually lives in a tiny village (15-20 total houses), so maybe that is a factor. Still surprising that someone at that age would still be waiting in a country that has taken things more seriously. She has an appointment next week, and her 93 year old sister (similar living arrangement one village over) is still waiting for an appointment. There's also a fucky wrinkle with my aunt that lives with her as a caretaker. She's a German citizen with a US green card. Because of the green card, she isn't able to register a German address with the state (something about only having one primary address). Without a registered German address, she cant get a vaccination through the German system. She hasn't contacted the US embassy yet, but they generally shit on green card holders. She's over 65, has comorbidities, and has to fly back to the US sometime soon to reset the clock on her green card. Fun time for bureaucracy to rear its ugly head.
  18. Yea, this ones coming around every hour I think. Huckabee used it to both sides the riot.
  19. Received this email this morning. Surprised the 20th is getting a pass in this, but I would avoid the capitol 16-20.
  20. There aren't enough "that's a shame" gifs to cover this. But Ill start.
