  1. I believe that’s true of all DC technically. Congress has ultimate authority over DC and cedes some authority to the mayor and city council for the residential and commercial areas. Bowser’ concern was always crowd control and/or vandalism on the streets of DC. Why the Capitol wasn’t prepared is the elephant in the room.
  2. In fairness to this tweet, the only person that made a direct charge at the SS during this got popped too. Much different mindset from the capitol police. I'm honestly amazed that there isn't more of a crowd control system baked into the building's exterior like the WH. Some lock boxes on the roof full of tear gas launchers would have nipped this in the bud. How a highly defensible building with a lot of open terrain to cross got breached is hard to explain beyond gross incompetence or someone being complicit.
  3. Correct. Lots of questions about preparation/lack thereof. I'm leaning that the security posture was intentional to make the coup possible until I see evidence to the contrary. There's no way the FBI missed all the SIGINT that this shitstorm was brewing. There's no way the capitol police were caught flat footed by an event that was advertised for a week+. There's no way the RoE should have allowed the crowd to breach the building without consequences. The lack of NG at least being on hot standby is just another big question that someone needs to get a clear answer for.
  4. Reports yesterday were that Pelosi made the request for the NG at the capitol.
  5. I don't celebrate it, but I certainly approve it. This isn't a kid getting shot in the back running away with a bag of skittles. This is someone advancing on a SS agent protecting their charge and ignoring both physical barriers and orders to stop. The SS agent stopped her from breaching that door, and it also woke up the people in that hallway that there are some lines they wont be able to cross without paying dearly for it. Every capitulation by the Capitol police up to that point emboldened those idiots. He brought them back to reality. To be clear, he didn't make that choice to stop the crowd. He shot her because she tried to cross that last line of defense. He fired one round and then went back to holding that line. Completely professional response to the chaos at hand. Actions have consequences, and when it comes to the secret service, the response is usually extremely binary.
  6. Yea, it seemed like there was a standing order with the capitol police to not engage the protestors. Guys were brandishing batons but not using them. Cops with guns were waving them around but not using them. I get that at the first barrier, but at some point you have to have a point of no return where the RoE changes. There absolutely should have been a layered defense. Second barrier, start flash bangs and rubber bullets. Third barrier you start busting heads with batons and cattle prods. Inside the building, you start dropping people. Its not hyperbole to say that at least a portion of this crowd wanted blood. They were coming for Pelosi, Pence, Cheney, etc. At best, they were going to be captured and harassed. At worst, they were going to carry out the logical conclusion to all of Trump/Q/Right wing rhetoric and kill members of our government. The response should have reflected that danger, and each line breached should have had an appropriate response. The crowd around Bigo aren't going to be affected by him being arrested a week later. All the crowd saw was that guy waltz into Pelosi's office, have a good time, and take shit. They will think they can do the same next time around.
  7. I wonder if the SS guy saw the long guns of the cops moving around on the other side of the glass and decided to pop the first person trying to push through the door. The cops on the inside of the door looks like they even started to engage the SS guy before thinking it through. What a clusterfuck.
  8. Lemon and Cuomo are the opinion wing of CNN, right? Likely what's driving the difference in tone, the journalistic side has to be a little more circumspect.
  9. So what Ill be looking for in the next few days. 1. What direction the "how was the capitol not prepared?" questions/investigation goes. This should get the ball rolling on identifying the players in the coup. Lots of paths here, did the FBI fail to find/track all the storm the capitol chatter and planning? Was it caught, but ignored by someone higher up in the food chain? Was it presented to Capitol police and ignored there? Did the DoD drag their feet on getting the guard out? Whoever dropped the ball needs to be tried for sedition, full stop. 2. Will congress move forward with impeachment? My guess is the senate will try to run out the clock, but the dems need to stick to their guns and get this done, even if he's out of office. They need to reclaim some respect for that body and our government as a whole. The world is watching. 3. Will any members of congress be censured or expelled? Hawley and Cruz are the easy targets, but guys like Gaetz, Jordan, Nunes need to be taken to the woodshed. Gaetz specifically, his speech last night was a shameless display of bootlicking and a continuation of the shit that got that riot started, and it needs to be punished. 4. Will Pence/cabinet move forward with the 25th? If that doesn't happen, its because Pence now has Trump by the balls IMO. The scheduling and incitement of this riot, and Trump's response (the lack of NG activation, tepid call to stop) seems like a pretty straight forward reasons to be able to 25th him. Trump needs time to complete his pardons, and most importantly, needs Pence to pardon him on the way out the door. I guess the counterpoint to this is Trump is fucking crazy, so I may be making the mistake of applying reason and logic to a guy that eats crayons. Time for Pence to show what kind of man he is.
  10. I received an IAVM for Solarwinds from the DoD today. Directed to use a DoD specific patch and validate the hash, and specifically NOT use any patches from Solarwinds. 3 week turnaround with a trusted patch, not completely horrible I guess?
  11. Yes, that was my point. The house reps are way easier to pressure because Trump has more sway in gerrymandered districts. If he tells an R+15 district not to vote for someone, they are toast.
  12. House Rs are most susceptible to Trump’s wrath, plus there are a lot of newer members that hitched up and got to ride in Air Force one and shit because of it. They aren’t leaving the trough until it’s empty.
  13. Sounds like the dems said hell no to a recess? Good, they want to do this dumb shit, be uncomfortable and squirm.
  14. This is abortion doc trying to lighten the mood during the procedure bad.
  15. Very fine people being gently escorted out of their capitol storming.
  16. Looks like the guy in the back right of the full image is also checking or clearing a weapon.
  17. I hope they leave the shit trashed and force the republicans to sit in it and try to fucking protest more votes. Let the world see what they have wrought.
  18. You have to watch the new Wonder Woman movie. Or don’t actually, it’s not great.
