You remember when Hooters tried to start an airline?

The Story Of Short-Lived US Carrier Hooters Air

    Yeah--that was dumb af.

They also had a casino in Vegas just off of the strip. Never stayed there but I played there.

You know me so well.  Do they have a Kona Grill so I can get authentic Hawaiian food?

Or maybe somewhere I can get my personal favorite... Hawaiian pizza.  Mmmmmmm mmmmmmm

It was not an indictment on you, more on Waikiki. I think we might have talked about it in another thread. Lots of chains. It's the Mag Mile meets Ft. Lauderdale in some regards. But the beach is better and there are pretty mountains. Food trucks might be a good plan.

  3. So how big of a setback is arthroscopic knee surgery for someone in pretty good shape in their mid er late 40s? My only frame of reference are 20 and 30 something professional athletes who are playing again 2-3 weeks later.

I've spent significant time at both, I could not disagree more.  Destin is a low-budget cruise ship docked for repairs, it is truly a garbage destination.

I think this past year's storms had a pretty significant impact on St. Pete Beach. It felt like damn near 50% of the resorts and restaurants on both sides of Gulf Blvd were closed and/or under construction. I still was not very impressed. The resorts, restaurants, bars and stores on Gulf were all pretty run down. The main strip was not very walkable. Narrow sidewalks inches from a busy 5 lane highway with people doing 50+. No beach walk on the beach side. I wasn't expecting a ton and with the time and budget I had to throw the trip together, it was as good as I could have done, it just didn't really measure up to some of the other places I've been. I can't really speak to Destin as I said we spent most/all of our time there in the resort.

St. Petersburg itself surprised me in regards to how nice it was, but I wouldn't really call it a beach town, either.

Baboon, I don't remember IMing you about anything, hm.

I'm trying to figure out who I need to PM. Is it Derka, BigM, and Capn?

The 10/90 thing was a joke of course. You are due the Champ winnings which, as specified are $400, minus your $100 entry fee. And yes that would be $100 from Derka's buddy, $100 from Big Orange and $100 from Capn so send them your venmo and if you don't hear back in a timely fashion, like I said, let me know and I'll front your winnings and can wait to collect mine.

@Derka - you 'won' $300 ($200 for Reg Season champs and $100 for 3rd) so you are owed $200 since no one paid in up front. Can you get Timmy and Durdy or Greg to pay you $100 each and have the odd man out pay @mojo $100?

@mojo - you won $400 for winning the Ship so you are owed $300. We will have Derka's odd man out friend pay you $100 and then @BigOrange1 and @Capn81 can you two please pay mojo? Mojo can you please PM these guys your venmo?

Me - won $300 for Champ runner up. Owed $200. @ITHorn and @Dutchrudder can you please each pay me $100? PM me for my venmo. That should do it for the '24-'25 season.

Please everyone remind everyone else in the fall about whether we want to bump the schedule up even more. Thanks all for a great season.

IT and dutch have both Venmo'd me. Thanks guys.

@mojo @Capn81 @BigOrange1 lmk where things stand. I prefer to make the Champ whole before myself so if those guys aren't checking the board I'll send $200 your way and can wait for them to pay me later.

    Ok teams are filled.

Reference This post here for last year's draft picks. If you don't have a keeper listed in this thread I will tag you.

Keeper Rule - Must be drafted in Round 4 or later last year. You can keep up to 2 players who ended the year on your roster for a round earlier than they were selected last year. If you would like to keep a UDFA, it is a 10th round pick.

    1. @Capn81 - Scottie Barnes (3rd) Jalen Williams (4th)

    2. I'm Rick James Bitch - Tim/Friend of Derka (FOD) - Keeping CJ McCollum (7th) and Buddy Hield (9th)

    3. Steve's Smart Team - mojo - Bane (8th) and Nic Claxton (15th)

    5. Greg's Great Team/Team Name TBD - BigOrange1 - Keeping Ant Man (8th) and RJ Barrett (12th)

    6. Baboon's Goons - Me - Derrick White (11th) Jabari Smith Jr (12th)

    7. Durdy Zion - Durdy Dan the Mann (FOD) - Keeping Evan Mobley (9th)

    8. Rags 2 Riches - Derka and FOD - Keeping Rudy Gobert (6th) and Chet Holmgren (10th)

    9. Greg's Grand Team - FOFOD Greg B - Need his keepers (sent options to @Derka)

    10. Ants Having a Good Time - Dutchrudder - keeping Tyrese Maxey (4th) and Brandon Miller (10th)

Bumping so I can reference later for payments.

Folly Beach.  However, I am very biased as I spent summers there, as a teenager, in my uncles beach house.  I have great memories from when it was still a relatively quiet beach town.

    Looks like a cool place.

  10. What are some of your favorite beach towns that you have been to or vacationed in? I was recently in St. Pete Beach and didn't think much of it compared to some other places I have been. I'm talking about cool towns, not just pretty beaches.

I liked Siesta Key when we went in 2021. I enjoyed the Destin area but where we were was a zoo, and we stayed in a giant resort and didn't leave. I was only there for one morning but I loved Laguna Beach. I really like Captiva Island. Been to plenty of beaches on the Atlantic side of FL and while driving on the beach is cool, I don't know that I've been blown away by any 'beach towns'. Had a couple day stop in Savannah a few years back and thought Tybee Island was cool but didn't do anything there due to weather.

    What have you got?

as always, 1st and 2nd have the option to chop the $700 however they want to. i’m still waiting for the day where the finalists agree to go all or nothing so that everyone else can tune in to the show. maybe this year is the year!

Bump for payout structure. Mojo agreed to chop the $700 10/90 via PMs.

  12. I concede. Not happening. I was holding out hope for a comeback.

I'm not sure of any solutions. My injuries during the last period were just injuries. Teams don't really care about seeding and they sit guys with any borderline injuries.

I'll be honest, even though this one isn't going to go my way I think it's kind of fun scrambling for scrubs to play down the stretch. It helps the owners who pay attention and are active.

Lebron was great on Macaffee. Never heard him let it rip like that.

I completely agree. I'm not pro or anti LeBron in general terms (or McAfee for that matter). I saw he was getting ripped for some of the sound bites and I had some travel this morning so I watched the entire thing. I didn't think he said anything that was unreasonable in context. It made me like him more, in fact.

Issue with Uber is gotta have a car seat, right?

First urban adventure with him, 8 mos old. Be his third time trip, but those were far from big city.

I don't know how I would handle that. My youngest is 12 so it's been a minute. The types of Uber rides you're taking in the city are not really the type where you're going to want to be strapping and unstrapping a kid. It's typically quick entrance and quick exit curbside type of stuff. My wife probably would have wanted no part of just holding the baby for a quick car ride. If you're not comfortable with that I don't blame you but I think you're back to walking and hoping for the best weather wise. If you're Uber ing from the City to O'Hare or something it definitely makes sense to get a car with a car seat but it seems impractical to me moving around the city itself. Maybe he would enjoy the L.

Heading there in 3 weeks, really hoping weather is tolerable, seems every hour is a coin flip. Will have a baby in tow so I’m thinking a rental car is probably the better play (Airbnb has parking) in case weather is shit and want to get around

Parking is not something you're going to be able to rely on. The surface lots and garages are plentiful but not cheap and probably won't put you that close to your destination. Uber is a good option but also not cheap. Bring a poncho for the baby.
