  1. No one wants to swim with whale sharks. It's not that anyone is scared of them, we are not snorkel people and no one feels the need to touch or get that close to a sea creature. I would like to see them, though, and without having to spend 6 hours on a tour. Are there other options?

  2. This was a really good derby. I love the Derby for some reason. I watched the ESPN2 broadcast and it was so much fucking better. The camera angle from behind the mound on the main broadcast? We don't care.

  3. Super helpful posts, thank you both. @Wally Pryor 4 nights on the island on PN at Ixchel. I was thinking we wouldn't need a golf cart. You disagree? Those golf cart adventures sound like fun and I know my son would love to see that church, he thinks shit like that is super cool.

Also, family of 4, boy 15, girl 12. Is a beach club something I should be looking at? It seems kind of young adultish but maybe I just don't fully grasp the concept. I thought we would have our fair share of pool and beach at Ixchel.

I put off spaying the puppies until as late as possible. Today was the day. Any tips would be appreciated.

    We have plenty of meds.

A little late but what kind of tips? Just went through this a few months ago. I basically kept her within eyesight of someone at all times and used a shirt off of Amazon to keep her away from the incision until the stitches came out. She never bothered it once and only wore the cone of shame in the car on the way home from the vet.

  5. I'm a couple weeks out. The sargassum situation is looking better. Cannot wait. I am city wise and keep my head on a swivel. But I have never been to Mexico and I'm not used to carrying cash with me at all, let alone at a pool/beach/cenote pool or whatever. What's my best bet here? I don't even own a wallet. One of those travel friendly RFID blocking wallets and never let it leave my body when I'm out of the hotel room? Leave it at the pool under your t shirt and flip flops and never let it leave your sight? I am assuming I need to have cash with me at all times down there, correct? Getting a drink at the pool, tipping, etc.

  6. Hey sometimes you gotta get that fried chicken sandwich fix. I actually debated it last time I got the grilled.  I definitely had the devil shoulder trying to convince the angel shoulder to go with the fried. Devil shoulder lost that day but he'll claim victory soon in another category.

I wasn't sure what they were serving up. I'm just saying that to me the chicken had the texture of a stack of wet paper even though it's called "Spicy Crispy." There was decent spice, but no crisp.  I generally find dark meat much more preferable but I was willing to try Culver's attempt at a spicy chicken sand. At least the onion rings were good, but they were rather stingy.

When was the last time you ate there? As of June 16 their chicken sandwich has been revamped and they now offer a "spicy, crispy" version. They don't mention whether the supposedly crispy version is grilled or fried though I assumed it's fried. But if you're asking if I've had a ckn sand with grilled or fried thigh, the answer to both is yes, absolutely.

If you get it, definitely 86 the lettuce and tomato.

Sorry I re-read your post and I totally misunderstood it. I thought you were complaining about the grilled chicken sandwich. I have never had or tried their breaded chicken sandwich. I last had the grilled chicken sando probably in April-ish. Minus mayo add pickle. Like I said it was probably the best fast food grilled chicken sandwich I had ever had.

  8. I don't understand the hate for the grilled chicken breast sandwich. Maybe yours wasn't good, but did you expect them to serve you a grilled thigh sandwich? That's not really a thing, is it? I personally prefer white to dark in my poultry and I appreciate the fact that I can get a pretty damn tasty grilled chicken sandwich from a fast food joint. I don't think I've ever had a better one than the one Culver's serves in fact. Have you had a grilled chicken from Wendy's or McDonald's? I believe that is Chihuahua meat, not chicken. It's a really good option for me if I'm in a pinch and need to resort to fast food.  I haven't had a burger from there in a few years so no comment on that.

  9. I don't have much for you. A day each for Haleakala and Road to Hana. We did sunset rather than sunrise and it was great. We didn't get to do the road but did make one of the first stops at Twin Falls and that was cool, the girls will like that. We took the ferry to Lanai one day and went to the cat sanctuary. I'm not a huge cat person but the rest of my family is and they enjoyed it. I don't know the status of the marina in Lahaina. People like Duke's in Ka'anapali in front of Honua Kai. We had breakfast there one day and it was pretty decent. We did Old Lahaina Luau. It survived and is open last I checked. It was a great experience for us, not cheap though. Have fun.

I don't know what show you are talking about, but I know how it ends. This is how not to recommend a show in a "recommendations" thread.

As they say, if you have to explain the joke, it probably wasn't very good. Made me chuckle last night, at least.

  11. I started this new show, it's about some arse hole detective in Scotland who is investigating a disappearance and monkeys. I think it's called Project X. I'm on the second to last episode and the monkeys have become self aware. Really good.

I just switched from the 5 to the 9 and lost text history as well.  Such is life.

That's what I said at the time. Give it two months. Sorry to say but it just gets more irritating as time goes on and you try to find older stuff on your phone.

  13. I'm usually a no sauce no glaze person but I'll definitely make an exception for spares. I know he's persona non grata but I love that stuff that Champ turned me onto, the Texas Pepper Jelly rib candy. Not nearly as spicy as it should be but just enough and some of the flavor combos were fire. Mango habanero and pineapple habanero, delicious.

I haven't cooked in a long time, I just talked myself into doing some spares over the Holiday.

Trying to take over for Scooby of the Christian and Scooby duo, no doubt. Google it. Apologies, I'm an NBA junkie with league pass.

I would love to wear contacts but there is no way on God’s green earth will you find me voluntarily touching my eyeballs. So…I suffer with wearing glasses and trials that it brings.

I was worried about that, as well. After trying to put the first one in about 20x and failing the lady said "Well at least you have no problem touching your eyeballs". So I guess I have that going for me, which is...something. Put it on my gravestone when I die.

Are you sure they're in the correct eyes?

The last batch of contacts I received had the lenses inserted in the case backwards. I had to reverse the curve on them to see correctly. They came out of the case like this "(" but should have been like this ")". If you look close at the edges you see which way they should go.

I watched her peel the lid off of the separate containers that they came in with R and L so I hope so. And yeah I'm pretty sure they were not in backwards. She showed me how they cup up differently when they're backwards and not only could I see the curvature but I don't think this was her first rodeo. Maybe I'll mess around with them later and try reversing the eyes and the polarization. And can gouge my eyeballs some more.

  17. Knee is feeling pretty good. I've been pushing it pretty hard in the gym so sometimes it hurts but it's all "good pain". I think...

Anyway, I realized my eyesight was going to shit when I basically failed my eye exam getting my real ID (she passed me and told me to get my eyes checked). Went to the eye doctor and yep my eyesight is definitely going to shit. I don't want to have to wear glasses everywhere so I also ordered contacts. They came in and this morning I had contact lens school with someone at the office showing me how to put them in and take them out, etc. The only problem is that everything is massively blurry when I have them in. I was only supposed to wear them 4 hours today and I kept thinking it was my brain and/or it was due to the general eye trauma of sticking my fingers into my eyeballs so much trying to get them in the first time. It never got better.. Something is fucked up. I could hardly read my phone with them in. Close, medium, far... Everything blurry. And yeah I'm sure they were facing the right direction. Not great. I guess I'll try again tomorrow and call the office on Monday if it doesn't get better. Getting old sucks.
