  1. I read some about the hair dryer method but I decided to experiment otherwise. I read some other experiments, too.

I pulled the wings out of the fridge around 5:30. Blotted them with heavy petting. Then baking powder and I kind of went for the jt salt and sear method for a ribeye to draw additional moisture out. Of course the salt didn't stay on like it would on a flat ribeye but it definitely had some effect. I also picked each wing 3-4x on each side with a toothpick (peking duck method, I think). After 90 min in the fridge on a rack the salt and powder were kind of forming a liquid paste.

I wasn't quite sure what to do next. I didn't want to rinse and pat dry since there would be no additional drying period. So I rolled with it, straight into the air fryer.

The good: Fried for about 15 min, flipped, another 10 min. Flipped again, another 10 min. Quite crispy.

The bad: Salty as fuck. Especially when tossed in Kroger brand wing sauce which has a fair amount of sodium.

The salvation: I like salt a lot.

    They were pretty good.

I have another salted/powdered batch in the fridge right now. I might try to rinse and pat, maybe oven at low temps for 30-60 min. Then fry.

How do we know if we missed it? I'm already on Chapter 3. What missions did you do with those 3 in Chapter 2? I can't remember if I failed and retried that particular mission from a check point.

  3. I bought a PS4 pro bundle on the Friday it came out. Didn't get to dive in much until this past weekend. I'll save the compliments (there are many) and get straight to the gripes. Maybe some of these are my lack of patience in not fully understanding what to do.

I don't like the "crafting" bs. I like that you need to be more precise with your hunting, and your kills, but I don't really know what to do with the carcasses when I kill something. After I finally figured it all out I found a 'pristine' bull moose, killed him clean with one shot, got his perfect pelt, loaded it up, rode way the hell across the game world to the trapper....and he offered me $7.50 for it. Fuck that! So now I have to ride around with this giant pelt on my horse until I can get the other shit I need to "craft" with it? I imagine there's a chart somewhere that tells me what else I need, and then another chart/map I have to access to figure out where to find that stuff. That is too tedious IMO. I preferred the system in the old game where I could shotgun blast a pack of wolves, take their hearts and meat to a shop and get $150 without worrying about how full my satchel was or how to make a hat out of their intestines.

I still don't understand the health system. Granted I haven't really tried. I pretty much eat stuff to get rid of it and ignore the health meters. I suppose if I got into a really difficult mission I might try to drink a tonic or something. This seems a bit like overkill.

I have never played a PS4 before this. I was so used to hitting that PS button on the PS3 during RDR to bring up the map I can't untrain myself to hit that strange options button up on the side. I suppose I might be able to change the controls.

Those are my complaints thus far.

  4. The baking powder on a wire rack in the fridge overnight served me very well in concert with the air fryer. I let them go for probably 20-25 minutes in the air fryer flipping a couple of times and they were as crisp and tasty as oil fried wings.

I've done some searching but any thoughts on a way to quick dry the skin in a similar method without having to leave them on a rack in the fridge overnight? This is a pain for many reasons but I liked the payoff. I'm willing to experiment outside of the box.

My first thought was a hair dryer on low after patting dry. Add salt and baking powder first and then hit for a few minutes on each side with a hair dryer.

Next thought was air conditioning. I don't really see how to make that work.

What about the freezer? Freeze for 20 minutes or so after salting and patting dry. I may try this one tomorrow.

  5. I need some new innards for my WSM. The brackets are so malleable that they won't hold the water pan any longer. Even empty. When the pit warms up, it falls into the charcoal ring.

I also need a new door. Cajun bandit right?

  6. We had a shot to compete for a playoff spot in my $$$ league. I killed it this week. Been starting shit bird J. Howard as my RB2 all year. He has sucked and been losing carries. Had a bad matchup at QB this week with Cam going against the Ravens. I looked up QB points against and with the exception of Wk 1 or 2, it's been like 7, 9, 12, 7, 19, 13. So I traded shitbird Howard to get a spot start out of Brady in an easy MNF matchup against the Bills.

Howard finished with 18 pts. My RB2 had 1.6. Cam had 37.6 points. Brady finished with 13.7. I lost by 2.5 points. I literally needed 1 TD from the GOAT and couldn't get it. Season over. Thanks for taking my money.

  7. There were a couple that looked cool that I didn't already have. I wound up buying the 6 ft tall pumpkin head guy animatronic because it was only $48 or something. Turns out it was a massive piece of shit. A lot of the heads have kind of a hard plastic "ribbon" on them that acts as the neck, so you stick them into the plug from the upper abdomen and the gravity/weight I guess is supposed to weigh the thing down and put the neck/face posture even and level. Didn't work with this guy. He was staring up into space. I tried to force the bend a bit and his fucking neck snapped. I put a hole in the bottom of his skull and shoved it down onto the neck brace. Not happy but meh, it was $48.

Don't doxx me bro, here's my yard at present. Thriller is merely on rotation, but it's definitely my favorite rotation.

  8. What are your go-tos?

I remember solamente73 had some good tips on smoked wings.

I spent a lot of the summer grilling them on the ceramic, but I'm off that now. I've been asked to cook a bunch for a birthday party on Sunday and trying to figure out what I want to do. Not feeling the oil, the air fryer doesn't have enough capacity.

    Give me your favorite methods.

  9. I am looking for a way to match cheaply made Chinese components.

I have a fog machine, cheaply made in China and with little to no supporting specs or documentation. It has a wireless remote receiver that can be plugged into the main body that allows you to control it with a wireless remote. The connector is a round, 3 pin male plug, as pictured on the left.

I have a 3rd party component, also cheaply made in China and with little to no supporting specs or documentation. It plugs into a fog machine's female remote receiver plug, and allows you to control the interval and timing of the fog release. Just not mine. You see, this connector is a more traditional 3 pin plug, as pictured on the right.

I could send my fog machine back and order another one and hope that this one has the right connector, or try to inspect pictures on Amazon to see if they match the connector. But I'm wondering if there might be some way to either find an adapter or just rewire the damn thing. I have done some searching to try to find names of the different types of plugs and I've come up with C14 for the one on the right but coming up empty on the round 3 pin.

Any help? /Not an electrician /Will be used outdoors so don't care if I start a fire

  10. I returned my Surface Go today at Best Buy and looked at a couple of the display models. I'm just not willing to go above the 12.3 size of the SP6. Already too big in my opinion but I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to have to deal with it. I wish they made the 128 GB SP6 with the i7 processor. It looks like I have to go 256 if I want the better processor and I'm into the $1500 range, not including the type cover.

The SSD size isn't going to affect performance. The primary limiter on the GO is that the Pentium 4415Y processor is limited to 1600mhz with no turbo boost. It is a much newer architecture, but it simply can't match the 2.9ghz turbo of the Core i5 4300u in your surface pro 2. It is about 65% of the speed based on most benchmarks.

Thanks hobbs, appreciate you helping me out here, obviously I'm not very educated in this particular area. This confirmation actually has me leaning strongly towards returning it. I am going to look at some of the 12" 2 in 1s I guess, including the SP6.
