  1. They are the fucking worst. We've had TxTags since the toll roads opened and I still get bills in the mail ALL THE TIME with reminders about how much I'd have saved if I had a TxTag. One time a couple of years ago I called them and after a very long time, asking to speak to everyone I could get on the phone, they took off the extra 10% or whatever they charge for not having a tag. I channeled Dr. Daly from comm studies and just kept repeating "It is not my fault your technology didn't work. Yes, it is installed correctly. It is not my fault your technology didn't work. Yes, it is installed correctly." Ad nauseum. Was it worth it to save 10% on a toll bill? Probably not, but it felt good to finally win one with them.
  2. We roll up to Murchison/Anderson. In fact, tonight is the parent info session for incoming 6th graders and I'll be there. Soooo it'll be interesting to see how they address or don't address this.
  3. Couple of years ago I came across this post about a woman who is also a "naturopath" who blogged about how she "treated" her young children who got pertussis. All three of them had it. One was 9 months old. They all lived. But it's a horrifying read, probably more so if you have kids of your own. Still, read the original post, which was taken down from the original site after a bunch of backlash, but still survives in screen cap form on the link I posted above. Your kids have some medical reason they can't get vaccinated, or if they can't because they're not old enough yet, that's one thing. That's why we protect them with herd immunity. But to put your children through a preventable disease, and risk their lives, because of some bullshit you read on the internet? Which isn't backed by actual data and/or peer-reviewed studies (and this is the case with every single anti-vaxxer I know personally)? Fuck you and I hope your children get through childhood without any long-term negative health effects and manage to do so without causing someone else to get a serious illness.
  4. Doug Jones is just sitting there like "Oh thank God it's not me he's yelling at."
  5. This is like saying that because winters are still cold, climate change is a myth.
  6. The biggest thing I'm picking up from this season so far is Hayes being a majorly unreliable narrator. Most of what we're getting is his POV and he's obviously not all there in the latest timeline. I'm not speculating about much yet because I feel like we're going to start learning more and more info pointing to the fact that his recollection in the first two timelines is, at best, off, and at worst, a major detour from the truth.
  7. Buzzfeed has really come a long way from just being the website that brought the listicle to prominence.
  8. Do y'all's dogs do this thing where their toy goes under the furniture and they lay there and growl and bark at it till you get the toy out for them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. This is my toy. There are many like it, but this one is mine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Our windows were rattling in Milwood (by the Domain). Glad y'all figured it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I know we do this all the time but I still do a double take when you post a pic of Edgar's twin. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Went on a quick run this morning and am paying for it now. I showered off immediately after but every time I step outside the headache starts to creep. Just really sucks when perfect running weather means a mega dose of meds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I don't know why this stuff still amazes me, but amaze me it does. A few weeks ago Trump said, on camera, in front of witnesses, that he unequivocally would not blame Democrats for the shutdown, and tonight he unequivocally said the exact opposite, and none of his people give a shit. They just kiss his ass more and defend him more strongly. It's just so nuts to me that this is our reality now. Sometimes I wonder if he just has some fantastic blackmail material on every GOP senator and that's how he's able to do and say what he does. Maybe they were all members of a secret sex club at one point. Maybe they all bear the Dark Mark and must do as he bids when he calls them. Etc.
  14. Bummed that we missed the happy hour by a hair, along with the chance to meet some of y'all, but other than that it was an amazing night. I've been to a lot of football games but that was the most fun I've ever had. Love my Horns and I'm really hoping we get to go back to New Orleans next year.
  15. I think there's about as much a chance of there being demons as there is a chance of a god(s) existing. (I'm agnostic and I'm not being snarky - I really have no idea. It's a big universe out there.) Have y'all read anything on autoimmune encephalitis? There's a pretty good memoir about it from a woman who was diagnosed in her early 20s, and because it's so rare, doctors are now starting to think that some people accused of demonic possession in the past actually had the disease because the symptoms align with what people thought possession looked like. It's a quick read: Brain on Fire.
  16. Edgar: Please play tennis ball with me. Also Edgar: Please don't make me let go of the tennis ball. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. I don't have words for this shit anymore. I'll just leave this.
  19. I am proud of Beto. I am proud of that first debate where Cruz couldn't muster up anything nice to say about Beto, and he called him on it. I'm proud to do the work I did and I'm proud of the work everyone did on his campaign. I have no regrets. For the first time in my adult life, I feel like I did all I could for my candidate, and that's something to be proud of.
  20. I said "for a lot of us" to account for those who'll date assholes if they're rich/hot. But the point is that we're not a collective group who share one hive mind, and that kind of thinking seems to be about when incels start going down the redpill path. If you (the general you) are constantly rejected by women, it's worth stepping back and considering whether or not the calls are coming from inside the house.
  21. These dipshits really don't get that you can be attractive and have a job and all these other traits that look good on paper, and still, acting like a dick can negate all of that. I may start talking to you because I find you attractive, but I (and most women) can tell if you're an asshole after a few minutes of conversation. For a lot of us, that'll end it right there, your pretty face and fat paycheck notwithstanding. Also, and this is kind of tangential, but I hate being called a "female" instead of a woman. It feels almost...dehumanizing, I guess. Definitely not high up on the list of things to be righteously offended by for sure, but it's annoying.
  22. He's not married. And this: Of course, it's never a good idea to post suggestive pics anywhere if one plans to be in the public eye, legal and consenting or not, but I guess this kid had to learn that the hard way. In front of one of the less forgiving populations he could've picked.
