  1. Oh look at his big sweet face. It's ok, pup. Age gets all of us.
  2. Wow, I don't think I've seen Gabi since she was a tiny infant! She's so big now!
  3. Oh yeah, after they've gnawed on the ends and they are kind of shredded? Like stepping on jagged rocks. You, sir, are in for some trouble. Is that a possum? Edgar once ran inside and dropped a rat at my feet while I was in my home office on a conference call. Thanks for taking out the rodent, buddy, but save it till I'm not giving a client presentation.
  4. Yeah, you can't engage when representing the campaign. That's for Facebook rants and family reunions. I just think of it as prioritizing. No sense arguing with someone who isn't going to change their mind for anything. Better to move on to the ones who are genuinely on the fence. As soon as someone says that we opt them out. At least, that's the rule.
  5. It's texts, not calls. And you're right. We all know going in that we're going to get a lot of responses like that, and as soon as someone responds that way, they get a "thanks!" and we move on. Our purpose is to help undecided voters learn about Beto, not to try to turn hardcore Cruz fans. And there are a surprising number of undecideds out there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Yeah, the conversations I have often go like this: Person: Who is Beto? Never heard of him. Me: He is a candidate for Senate. Person: Is he a Republican? Me: No, he is the Democratic candidate. Can I clarify any of his positions on the issues for you? Person: Uh why would I vote for someone who wants to kill unborn babies and take away my guns? Go away libtard. <---- This is an actual quote from someone I talked to. But there are lots of variations on this theme. The minute you say "democrat" you've lost them.
  7. I don't think there's anything wrong with admitting that you like a film that you learned to like as a youth, while also acknowledging that certain elements are outdated and are now considered inappropriate in some schools of thought. Animal House was on a few months ago and I hadn't seen it in a couple of decades, and I found myself cringing at parts that had never given me pause before. I think you can accept something for what it is, given the context at the time it was made, and be ok with admitting that you should think and/or do things differently now that times have changed. It doesn't mean you're a snowflake; just that you're capable of growing and changing.
  8. Edgar has always been a really heavy chewer - took us forever to find toys he wouldn't tear up in a few minutes and that didn't give him tummy issues like those roasted bones. These water buffalo horns are his favorite toy now. They last forever -months- even though he chews on them all the time. I've even caught him sleeping on them like pillows. 9. There were exactly two black people at my high school when I was there, and they were siblings. PNG was in no way diverse. But, when we lived in Port Arthur, I went to Tyrell Elementary and then Booker T. Washington, and BTW at least was pretty diverse. I was in the magnet program there and it we had people from all walks of life. This was in the late 80s.
  10. This story has been weighing on me the last few days. Those poor people. And the woman who lost most of her family? I can't even imagine. Couple of weeks ago we were at the lake and I jumped off the boat into the water just for a minute, to cool off. My 6-yo, wearing a life jacket, wanted to get in too, but as soon as he did he lost faith in his life jacket and started to try to climb on me. Now, I'm no Olympian, but I'm a competent swimmer and this was not an emergency situation, and I still had to grab on to the boat ladder to keep him from pushing me under. In still water. Those poor people didn't have a chance.
  11. Nah, I'd just tell y'all to knock it off with the dick pics. I don't have much use for beating around the bush.
  12. Some of y'all have PMed me about Beto events, so I wanted to share this link to his organizing rally in Round Rock on the 27th. They are requesting RSVPs and you can do that here.
  13. Ah, you're talking about on an individual level. I guess I was thinking more in terms of our country as a whole. But I understand what you're saying.
  14. Well, there are a lot of ex-presidents I'd rather have in office. Most of them, actually. But besides that, saying "Well, THIS guy sucked and you didn't mind him as much, so you can't complain" is a shitty argument.
  15. What response am I to take from this?
  16. So you really think we were worse off before he came into office?
  17. Not Brisket, but as he and I have similar thoughts about our current administration, I'll tell you what I'd like. I'd like a leader who at least pretends he prepares for meetings with heads of state, openly condemns white nationalists (especially after they lead such efforts as in Charlottesville last year, doesn't side with Putin over his own advisors, and is man enough not to try to convince the public that he meant to say "covfefe". For starters.
  18. How far down is rock bottom? Seriously, how far?
  19. Saw this today - it's a new documentary about Fred Rogers and Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. As a kid growing up in the 80s, it was a staple in my home, but I never truly realized how progressive he was. There's a few times when he and Officer Clemmons cooled off their feet in a kiddie pool and then shared a towel, right around the time white people were dumping chemicals in pools while black people were swimming in them. Then there was the time Daniel Tiger told Lady Abelin he felt like a mistake and they sang a duet about it. And in the very first week, in 1968, King Friday built a wall around his castle to keep people from moving closer. So the rest of the people in the neighborhood sent him messages about kindness and inclusiveness and he realized there was nothing to fear, and he took down the wall. I shit you not.</p> Anyway, it's playing at the Alamo in the Austin area. I highly recommend it. Even though you will be sniffling at the end. I can't seem to embed the trailer so here it is.
  20. The family is gone for a few days, so instead of lounging on his bed or the couch, he lays between me and the front door like the good guard dog he thinks he is. Does this any time it's just me and him. [emoji173]️ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. As if I needed another reason to never go caving. Glad they found them but it sounds like getting them out will be treacherous to say the least.
  22. My dad shares a granola bar with Lucy every morning and this morning he didn't do it fast enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
