  1. Pretty energetic, like a typical lab puppy. I think it's one of the issues with her other dogs - they're older and don't want to deal with puppy shit.
  2. My friends in east Austin found this pup about a month ago. They looked forever but no owner ever showed, so they got him chipped, neutered, and vaccinated. They love him but their other dogs are being jerks so they need to find a permanent home for him. Maybe someone here needs a super sweet dog to love, or knows someone? His name is Lucky. https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/42474986-austin-texas-labrador-retriever
  3. I know the phrase is black don't crack but Mario can still get it.
  4. Am I the only one who saw the title and immediately got excited that this would be part of the Get Smart universe? No? Just me?
  5. I cannot get into the Terrifier movies. I watch a lot of creepy shit but these are so over the top and disturbing. I still have nightmares about that one scene from Terrifier 2 (you know which one). It's like there's no point but the gore. My one issue with Strange Darling:
  6. I reeeealy liked Oddity (streaming on Prime). Super creepy. Strange Darling was great, too. Saw it in the theater last weekend. It's best to go in knowing as little as possible, so don't watch anything besides the trailer.
  7. This "online content creator" is a really good speaker.
  8. "Let us choose common sense over nonsense" Yas queen
  9. Shapiro really does well with the Black preacher delivery.
  10. Damn, Stevie still sounds the same after all these years.
  11. I'm glad she's officially supporting Harris, but I will always harbor some animosity towards most Trump officials. If I'm being generous, I can get why some of them signed on in the beginning, when there was still lingering hope that Trump would listen to his advisors and stop acting crazy. But by Jan 6, he had shown his true colors over and over again.
  12. Warnock can fucking deliver a speech. Damn.
  13. You know that kid has gone full Joffrey by now.
  14. Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with these people.
  15. I know it's foolish, but part of me likes to pretend that a person with a decent shot at becoming the next president might have a person or two on his team at least going through some of the normal motions of running a presidential campaign.
  16. A couple of weeks ago the Pod Save America guys were talking about how Vance's nomination has brought out all these statements/beliefs that, until now, were only talked about in the quiet corners of the farthest right places - it's the stuff they say amongst themselves but never intended to say to the general public. I'm still very curious how they vetted him, or if they were just so far up their own asses in hubris that they didn't think they needed to because they had the election in the bag.
  17. Shot in the dark: do y'all know anyone in the Austin area who might want to foster a sweet lab mix? My friends are in the Mueller area and found him wondering the road this weekend. After calling a ton of shelters (AHS told her January), posting EVERY place possible, checking for chip...they're getting no leads. He's goofy and adorable but we're struggling with their two other dogs being assholes. They have a week long foster lined up but are in a pickle after that. He's not fixed, but has done great with kids, is very gentle and interested in their dogs--the problem is definitely her dogs being jerks. She says he's doing well with crate training. He seems young but we can't tell exactly what age. IMG_2338.mov
  18. Derry Girls ftw for comedy. "Why were you pissing on her dead body and making sandwiches?"
  19. Finally saw this one and while it's not my favorite film ever, I liked it a lot. I wish they'd stop marketing it as horror because it's really, really not. The lead actors were great. I thought this Vulture review, by a trans woman, gives the most insightful interpretation I've seen. A few highlights spoilered just in case., and I bolded a line that particularly resonated with me (I'm a cis woman, fwiw).
  20. Goodbye, Rocket-man. May you spend eternity bounding through fields.
  21. Has anyone used a holistic vet that they would recommend in the Austin area? Or a vet that supports integrated treatments, with normal medical processes along with stuff like acupuncture? If you're thinking of making fun of me for asking, keep moving because I'm at my wit's end here. The background, which is long and I'll try to abbreviate, is that our 5-yo lab mix, Rocket, has a couple of chronic conditions that the vet is struggling to resolve. I'll spoiler the bulk of it here. Yada yada yada, he has to stay on pee pads or wear a diaper constantly. About half the time I have to help him stand up. He can get down the deck stairs to the back yard, but it takes him a while and even longer to get back up. He generally just seems sad. The only time he wags his tail anymore is when I see him first thing in the morning. The regular vet, who I generally like a lot, has basically given up. She referred us to A&M, so we are supposed to go there Aug 13 and meet with internal medicine. Last week, my husband took him in to check on the pneumonia and his bladder and they started dancing around the topic of end-of-life care. I'm not a vet, and maybe I'm just in denial, but I think it's crazy to go from "everything will resolve as we wean steroids" to end of life discussions in 3 weeks for a 5-yo dog. I've heard good things about acupuncture for dogs with incontinence and back leg weakness, and I've personally had good experiences with it (for other conditions, lol), hence my question above. I would do anything for this sad baby.
