I can get on board with trying this in some format; however, it's not like the Premiership where teams don't spend money or don't spend it wisely. Relegation might be the result of circumstances beyond the control of most of the schools and kids that would be subject to it.
My oldest is in computer engineering at UTD and is working his ass off. Texas Instruments started it and is still heavily involved with the program. He loves it and after a few years in the real world, I doubt anyone is going to give a shit about the "D" next to "UT" on his diploma. It's all about talent and ability.
Biology. Ditto! We'll look into it counting AP credits and course availability, but I'm 100% certain that Liberal Arts isn't where she wants to land or risk being stuck. She's got burnt orange glasses on right now and as much as I want another Texas Ex around the house, it's not my first choice (or decision). thanks.
Good news. Bad news. Youngest was accepted to The University yesterday but received the "denial" option. That is to go to school at a "UT System University" for 30 credit hours, maintain a 3.2 GPA, and get guaranteed admission to Austin in Fall 2025. Unfortunately, my kid already has so many dual credits from AP courses in high school, that there are not likely enough courses available for them to knock out the 30-hour requirement.
Losing guaranteed admission for following a more academically challenging path in high school. What a country.
100% this. Rodney Terry would never have been considered for the position to begin with. He was just the next guy up.
Ask yourself, where does RT land if he gets fired by Texas after the season? What Power Five Conference school would leap to name RT their new head coach?
Most of the quality football players who would have gone to Lynch or Dunne wind up at Duncanville or somewhere close by. Alex January's older brother went to Lynch, but Dad had no intention of sending Alex there.
After the celebration of the 2006 Rose Bowl concluded, I walked through the stands and across what had been the USC side to exit the stadium closest to our car. I found an entire bag filled with championship game apparel and hats that some poor, disgruntled USC fan must have bought pregame and left under their seat. Don't blame them one bit.
Buy a metro pass for the week. Spend a couple of weeks looking over the map and figuring out the stop closest to your hotel and how to get around. It's much faster than walking everywhere and easier to move around than in a vehicle.
Also, don't be afraid to at least attempt to speak French. After a couple of attempts, they'll forgive you for butchering it and let you order or ask in English. You just gotta try French first and be apologetic.
I was engaged in Paris in the late '90s and our hotel clerk made reservations earlier for us at The Jules Verne instead of the other "less fancy" place in the Eiffel Tower. We showed up dressed like we were going to the less fancy place and after we explained and a few minutes of talking amongst themselves, the staff took me and put me in a black tie and coat. They gave my wife this wrap for her shoulders and then stuck us in a corner all by ourselves overlooking the Seine. Our waiter had just left the French Foreign Legion after having served at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio for the previous few years.
I'm still paying down the tab 😀
I agree on Versaille, with the caveat that at least the inside is amazing.
Go Navy!
For Uncle Art Berndtson, who on the night of December 8, 1941, stood on the bow of the USS Enterprise with a lantern to signal the wheelhouse when he spotted a buoy as the carrier navigated into Pearl Harbor. No one knew until after he died that he commanded a torpedo boat squadron in which JFK served and had won a Silver Star "operating against enemy Japanese forces during the New Georgia Campaign in the Solomon Islands area in 1943…". He loved to duck hunt and would come down to Port O'Connor with us every year until he physically couldn't anymore. He would snore so loud he'd rattle the picture frames on the wall of the rooms adjacent to his at the Port Motel.
You may not be able to get onsite, but you never know unless you ask. I recommend the boundary trail at Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch. Call Buffalo Trail Council and see if they'll let you on site. There's no one there right now except a Ranger that lives onsite and won't be until Winter Camp between Xmas and New Year's Eve.
