  1. I resemble that remark!
  2. I always tell my Eagle Scouts or soon-to-be Eagle Scouts that plenty of people achieve Eagle but never really live up to its ideals, while others who never set foot in scouting carry those same values through grit, upbringing, or just their own choices. The rank works more like a magnifying glass—it emphasizes and enlarges the character of the Scout, rather than magically bestowing character to the Scout.
  3. That’s stinks, but good call. It will still be there next time.
  4. So, did Helen Hunt get 'Dorothy II' out of the bed of the truck?
  5. I was cleaning out my google photos this weekend and almost deleted this photo. I don't recall seeing the photo before, but I do recall riding out this storm at Guadalupe Peak.
  6. More dead Russians. That's the only means to that end that I can foresee. In before 1800
  7. Could they sue? Sure — they’ve done it before. Should they? Probably not. An lawsuit might help negotiate a mitigated settlement or shave penalties, but proving damages would be exceedingly difficult, and there’s no injunctive relief left worth the cost of litigating (no obvious hair-on-fire hook to obtain quick court intervention). Despite being a “repeat and aggravated Level I violator,” Michigan avoided a postseason ban. Without a postseason ban or other drastic enforcement action, courts are unlikely to intervene, much less enjoin. They generally defer to NCAA autonomy on discipline (unlike NIL compensation or athlete-rights policy, which they’re all to eager to jump right into). Plus, Michigan’s own failure to cooperate in the investigation severely weakens its own case, and fighting over its own wrongdoing risks backfiring with regulators, the media, and the public. A less adversarial route — appealing directly to the NCAA — might have a better chance at reducing penalties or securing relief.
  8. He was my grandmother’s neighbor at Horseshoe Bay. By far the most likable guy of that group running around out there.
  9. Paging @Sbbruin, please pick up the nearest powder blue courtesy phone.
  10. It’s not local government that’s the problem—it’s the soulless, behemoth that is big government. The same sanctimonious machine that offered the money that would have paid for a warning system — twice — then sat back as nothing got built, no one got warned, and people died.
  11. After She Posted 'I Stand With ICE,' Trump Fan's Husband Facing Deportation Ironically, this may save the POS.
  12. Some of my favorite mornings as a kid were early weekend mornings rolling the Chronicle and throwing my neighborhood paper route. Once I finished, I’d head to Shipley’s to meet up with my buddies who had just wrapped up their routes. We’d eat too many fresh donuts, talk and feel important, and then I’d go home and sleep until early afternoon.
  13. Barry was putting it in Larry's wife.
  14. paging @Vic Mackey. Please see above for an important message.
  15. Look, I invested too many Saturday mornings hopped up on chocolate milk, Froot Loops, and barely prescribed amphetamines to let you betray the Saturday morning ethos. I'm sorry, but if I don't speak up the next thing you know, you’ll be turning “jinkies” into “WTF!”
  16. When I was a youngster I bumped into Ozzy Osbourne at Sound Warehouse on Shepard. He was there to do a promo for KLOL. The only thing I could find for him to sign was a large poster board… I asked him to sign it "pretty big." He did.
  17. Like watching a highlight reel of Aaron Judge's greatest post-season moments?
  18. From unhinged, derelict heavy metal outcast to pop-culture icon is one of the most fascinating image makeovers in entertainment history. Much too talented to ignore, too nice and self-deprecating to hate, and too well-managed to cancel.
