  1. I was fortunate for the opportunity to be around Bevo XIV for almost all home game weekends and multiple alumni events for the last several years of his tenure. My youngsters were taught to approach him quietly and to respect his space. They could get close enough to him and pet him. They thought of him as family. They cried harder when he died than they did for any of their grandparents.
  2. Speaking of trick-plays. Right about 25-years ago this week La Marque snapped A&M Consolidated's annual run to State and began their own annual appointment with the 4A Championship Game with a trick play. The "Miracle at Pasadena Memorial." Best high-school game I've enjoyed in person.
  3. While I'm at it, I should have already posted these. My kid was the genius that attached his boogie board to his pack. They wore it out and had a blast.
  4. The worst was the very, very fine sand that slipped under the rainfly and sifted through the tent netting. I had to pull my shirt over my face while I slept because enough sand would accumulate on my face that I'd wake up choking, chewing on it and struggling to get it out of my eyes. I really don't know what the solution is for camping in tents on the beach, but I clearly fail to grasp it.
  5. Our Troop did PINS on Texas-ou weekend. It's not the wind, it's the sand. I started packing for Caprock Canyons yesterday and was finding sand in just about everything despite what I thought was a meticulous cleaning.
  6. Heading out to Caprock Canyons this weekend. Does anyone that has been out there have any suggestions for our Scout Troop? Looking for trail suggestions. High is supposed to be in the mid-50's with overnight lows hovering just above freezing. Park office is closed today due to ice.
  7. Watched the first episode last night and I'm all in. I have to watch the whole season before I will decide whether or not to let my daughter watch it. She's watched "It" and is a big fan of "Stranger Things." Any heads-up about the rest of the season before I binge watch this weekend?
  8. I would love to believe that. It makes me very happy
  9. His twitter hasn't been shut down yet @hardrock2016
  10. That movie was like climbing Guadalupe Peak. There were about five times I thought we had reached the end but it just kept going.
  11. Yep. That's Weddell, and Mattress Mac too.
  12. I just remember Alan Weddell standing in the locker room door screaming, "Yes we can!" and the team running out and screaming in unison, "Yes we will!"
  13. Those refs should have been fired, along with Frank Anderson. The most significant non-call I could remember came on Georgia's game-winning touchdown run in the closing minutes of the '84 Cotton Bowl. From my vantage point in the north endzone I always thought Mark Lang was held or dragged down by the right tackle as he zeroed in on the Georgia quarterback. 20+ years later I eventually watched the replay and it's debatable whether he was held or whether he would have even been in a position to make the tackle; however in my mind's eye, all these years, it cost us a national title.
  14. The obvious… Personal favorites… Someone that probably never crossed your minds, but she and Redd Foxx just killed it…
  15. Only because my "Dump Deloss, Flush the John" t-shirt is MIA
