  1. The upside is that she encouraged us to bring in our own booze rather than pay COTA prices since nobody is checking anything.
  2. Heard from the person who went on our tickets today that they weren’t checking tickets at all. Which seems typical. This may belong in the “COTA seems like it sucks” thread.
  3. I really hope Atlanta wins. TFC vs Seattle seems like a snoozer.
  4. Agree on Seattle being way better last night. I'm a huge LAFC honk, but the Sounders definitely deserved it.
  5. I've also heard that they've left COTA, but nothing official. We have tickets for Saturday because my wife is a huge Pink fan. Pray for our ability to get in/out of there.
  6. This is a pretty good article about recent developments. https://communityimpact.com/austin/central-austin/city-county/2019/10/29/texas-governor-following-through-on-promise-tells-txdot-to-clear-homeless-encampments-under-austin-highways-starting-nov-4/
  7. Yeah, they threw him off the board a couple years ago after some controversy around a merger with another org.
  8. The best thing about Cord Shiflet https://www.kvue.com/mobile/article/news/local/cannonball-run-style-race-promises-1300-miles-of-texas-weirdness/425792337
  9. You are telling me that someone from NYC is not moving to Austin because of trash and homeless people? That strains credibility.
  10. Yes. He would be quite a character there. I wonder if he’ll switch to a goofy cowboy hat.
  11. Definitely Don Z. And Bobby Epstein.
  12. Man, why so surly?
  13. Not really. This is the problem. KVUE points to 311 calls going up, but that can easily be just perception.
  14. Haven for Hope also relies on a ton of private funding, including $40 million from NuStar. Who’s writing that check in Austin?
  15. I’m all ears for anything that makes the Home Depot site useful. What’s the issue with it?
  16. We do have a city council member making policy based on a national platform.
  17. This is good insight. The charisma and vision thing were super evident when he was on a panel with the mayors of Minneapolis and St Paul on the last Chamber trip. As a Flannigan honk, also appreciated your thoughts there.
  18. Agree with that. But, some of the advocacy groups share in this. Along with Council and the local/state Republican Party.
  19. I'll say it again, but this is a situation where almost everyone is wrong. Not sure what the path out of it is, but I hope we find something.
  20. What does this part mean?
  21. The Rodeo’s PAC is Energize the Expo. Not telling who the other group is.
  22. We have, and will continue to be, long term financial supporters of the Rodeo. Doesn’t make this ballot prop a good idea.
  23. That’s disappointing.
  24. D-League is also not leaving Cedar Park Center. My vote's going to depend on whether they get vocal on City of Austin prop B. It's a terrible proposition. As of now, the Chamber is neutral on Travis County A partially because of that threat.
