  1. Was unclear on the apology. This was an apology from the BP MS 150 people about the failure of COTA.
  2. Although the weather was great, the parks were open, and the overnight camps were festive, we acknowledge that the new finish line presented significant challenges. Please accept our sincere apology for the inconvenience and frustration. We pride ourselves in providing an outstanding event experience, so we are devastated that the new finish line was not seamlessly executed for our event participants, volunteers, supporters and spectators despite our best efforts. We acknowledge the difficulties you and your team experienced, and your feedback is critical. We want to hear from you and include you in the plans for 2019.

Pretty good turnout tonight. City staff and MLS2ATX reps presented. Nobody spoke up in opposition. Future meetings on the 3rd, 8th and 10th.
  4. Look dickshits that can’t connect the dots between statements - Amazon in and of itself doesn’t create an unreasonable burden on infrastructure. The fucksticks on Council and city staff do. Hopefully this clarifies my earlier post.
  5. The employment/population increase numbers are overstated because everyone jumps to the 50K at the end. They're not coming all at once. There's no reason we couldn't build the infrastructure to support it based upon the incremental benefits it would bring. Regardless, our do nothing Council has sent a clear message that we are anti-growth, and it has resonated on a national basis. Amazon knows what's up and will respond accordingly.

First of threeish community input sessions on very short notice tonight @ the Pond from 7-9. Going to try to make some of it.
  7. Southwest used to fly to Midland and it was empty as shit.
  8. I’ve done the last four. I’m going to actually prepare one of these years. Logistic issues were all on COTA for sure.
  9. It’s especially hard if you haven’t ridden more than 20 miles at any point during training.
  10. Handling of the event. Taking an hour plus for people to get in to see their family finish. Over an hour and a half to catch a shuttle w my bike back to the parking lot and the truck pulling the shuttle died most of the way up the hill, so we had to unload and walk the rest of the way. Heard one of the BP ladies yelling at COTA people on the radio.
  11. Leaving COTA after riding the MS 150 and it is a grade A shit show. It will get even worse when the slow riders come in.
  12. Realize this is a little late, but did you call 311 or the department responsible to discuss the issue? The only way the city is going to get better is if the average citizen actively engages in the process.
  13. This seems a lot like the plan for Major Applewhite to come home and take over the Longhorns from Mack Brown. Which was a terrible idea.
  14. What a shit show. You were right about this one all along.
  15. No shit. Dynamite revelation here.

MLS/PSV filed motion to dismiss today. Next official legal action is a hearing on May 3.

https://t.co/EMl1nssSCL Best quote: “I think, unfortunately and sadly, that the city and the state know that the lawsuit was a last resort and I believe they realized the team is gone and now it is about saving public face.”
  19. Well, crap. It was a lady playing “Cold as Ice” on her phone for three minutes without speaking.
  20. Some lady used her three minutes just to play a Foreigner song on her phone.
  21. Thats a brilliant point. And also one I made way back on page 2.

How does the mayor’s statement that they’ve been in contact with groups that might be interested in an offer translate to a local ownership group is in place? Grasping at straws. MLS/PSV also appear ready to go to war on Modell Law being unconstitutional.

Pretty good summary from Zach Smith of Hill Country News. Couple Statesman guys were also there. By ZACH SMITH, HCN Sports Editor The MLS in Austin supporters group kicked off their ‘Fan Tour’ on Saturday afternoon. The first stop was at NXNW Restaurant at Stonelake where they answered questions from supporters and announced a potential shift in focus if Columbus Crew SC move to Austin. “An event like this is the culmination,” MLS in Austin Director of Art and Brand Ryan Riggins said. “This is a regional event and the turnout is fantastic. It means so much to see people here literally taking that step forward to help our movement grow.” The tour, which was created with an effort to showcase the group to different sections of Austin, will have another meet up in May at Austin Eastciders. They’ll take a break for the World Cup and get back into the swing of things in July and hope to have events in Round Rock, Cedar Park and other regions of the city. MLS in Austin founder and president Josh Babetski said membership has been grown by at least 10 percent a month since the beginning of the year. Additionally, he said 20 percent of the members have become paid supporters. The Austin City Council requested a report on the feasibility of McKalla Place as a stadium site by June 1. Babetski foresees more concrete info before Aug. 1. “I expect that before the All-Star Game, we’ll know if the team will be here in 2019,” he said. The leaders of MLS in Austin had an internal brainstorming session last week to go through branding things, update the group’s values and throw around a few new names. No new logos or names could be unveiled yet. “Our mission is to bring a club here,” Riggins said. “Once a club is here, we want to make sure that we’re representative of the city and our mission adapts once phase one is accomplished.” Jeremiah Bentley is an Austin resident and came across the MLS in Austin group while attending an event with the Austin American Outlaws chapter. He said he’s always been one to get involved with groups and he’s excited at the prospect of having a professional team in Austin. Bentley said he knows there are people in Austin that are excited about it that just aren’t coming to events or expressing support on social media and said those in charge need to hear from those in support of the move just as much as those opposed to it. “So much of public policy is based on who makes the noise, and if all the noise is coming from a small group of people that didn't like it for whatever reason, that’s what the elected officials are going to respond to,” he said. “That’s no fault of theirs because they can only respond to what they hear and who they hear it from. So it’s really important for the folks that are supportive to know that silence can be negative.” Bentley brought his two young boys to the event on Saturday and said its important to also take the fan tour to places where families and kids are accepted, a prospect the supporters group was happy to do. “It will be really cool that 10 years from now, (my kids will) go in and watch MLS games and I’ll know they were around this kind of event,” Bentley said. “They might not remember it, but they were around when it all started." Some guy today at the deal got very serious at the open forum about naming the team "Austin Music City FC" and was shocked by the complete lack of support for the idea.
  25. I know it’s a stretch to go all the way back to page 2 where we discussed this, but it’s for homes without A/C. Still stupid, but far fewer than everyone. Happened to noticed that Troxy’s Facebook page was pushing the “everyone” story well after the updated post.
