  1. My kids bought me an LP of an old John Philipa Souza recordings. Nothing better for the 4th than Stars and Stripes Forever played by his band, directed by JPS.
  2. Hiked to the South Rim, Climbed Emory peak, forged the Rio Grande into Santa Elena canyon, took the 25 cent ferry to Boquillas Mexico, drank Lone Star in the old brewery, took too many trips measured by six packs instead of miles, Palo Duro canyon, White Elephant Saloon (every Wednesday for 2 years), Big Texan Steakhouse, Cadillac Ranch, 2 Texas/OU weekends before they arrested everyone for anything (Shout out to Commerce Street Elvis "We don't need the Dallas Police"), South Padre Spring break, Matramoros big liquor store and Matamoros Boys town and survived too many dives and biker bars to be alive.
  3. I refuse to buy anything from Amazon. If something I want is on sale through one of their partners, I'll search for the partners website and order direct from them.

    Getting old sucks

Follow up in 6 weeks. If it's not better we do an MRI and go from there.
  5. I'll tell her it's for her sister. She'll probably deliver it to her.
  6. Well, hell, faith in humanity is somewhat restored. Sent another note to her saying she could pay cash or we can run a CC. She called me at work and said she was coming right over. Walked in and handed me the cash difference. The funeral director had told me the two sisters were fighting all week over the service and he wasn't going to get between them. At the funeral their families even sat on opposite sides of the church. Her story was that her sister was in charge of payments. She asked me if I thought I might have lost it. I told her I knew it was not there. She said here sister had made some statements supporting the fact that she short paid on purpose and believed me. Either way, I got my money and it will be placed in the buy me a (used) corvette against my wife's wishes, retirement fund.

Tendonitis or bursitis. Cortisone shot for the win. A little arthritis and minor bone spurs but no surgery for a while.
  8. When I was growing up my doctor would smoke during exams/check ups and in his office while we were discussing results. I never thought anything about it.
  9. LOL. I get your point but this is her social media presence:
  10. She was cremated and taken home. Maybe a dump on her mantle?
  11. LOL. Her deceased mother was 98, she was pushing 80. Now her 40ish grandaughter...
  12. I sent her one telling her the envelope only had 1/2 the money. She replied that she would pay me the 1/2 that I "lost". I didnt lose it and she knows it. She cheated me and she's not going to pay.
  13. Liars and thieves. Kenny Rogers lied to me. Next time I'm counting money at the table. I had a woman contact me about playing bagpipes at her mothers funeral. I told her it was $200 and confirmed the time/location. When I arrived this morning she handed me a sealed envelope thank you note, I opened it and saw money in it, but didn't take it out to count it. When I got home, I discovered that she only paid me half. I sent her a text and said "if you lost half of it, I'll repay you later". There is no way I lost half of it because I never took it out of the envelope. I've done this for years and never had anyone pull this shit. She knows I caught her in a lie and I know she has no intention of paying.
  14. Same type of thing happened to me. I was mowing the back property of our house next to my neighbors shed. All of a sudden I felt like I was on fire. Africanized bees had built a huge hive in the wall and my mower pissed them off. When I realized what was happening, I didn't even bother stopping the mower, I just outran the little bastards. It was probably the fastest 100 yd dash I ever ran and luckily the house doors were unlocked. I got stung 21 times and was killing the little bastards in the house as they continued to sting me. Hours later when I went to get the mower they came at me again when I was 50 yards away. I called a beekeeper friend who said they when they tag you they leave a pheromone that tags you as an enemy and they will go after you if you get close. When he tried to remove him he had to give up because he said they were too aggressive. I hoped they knew it was me who bought the poison when he exterminated them.
  15. From the Texags thread on dropping the corps march in: I haven't seen an in-stadium march-in since I was a student and half of those times it was because my friend was pretty much a bootchaser. Does this imply that that there were women at A&M whose first criteria for choosing a man was that they were in the corps?
  16. I was at a party two years ago, where I knew a couple of young Air Force guys. One was a flight weapons officer who graduated from the Citadel and the other a C-130 pilot who graduated from VMI. Some guy who had a desk job in procurement at the base, came up to them and started talking about how rough it was being a corps turd and and how much the corps at A&M had in common with VMI & The Citadel. They just smiled a lot and rolled their eyes when he left. They said it happens every time they meet a corps grad and that the majority of them were dweebs.

    Getting old sucks

I had rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder 6 years ago. When my doctor took x-rays and MRI's to confirm, he said "I'll see you in a few yours for the other one". My appointments Monday.
  18. Right after we got married, my company had a sales promotion for it's dealers and some of us got to go to Hawaii. My wife was terrified of flying and had read that the safest place to be was in the rear of the plane. So we got seats in the last row on a 747, in the smoking section. As soon as we were airborne and the pilot turned off the no smoking sign, the cabin transformed into a 70's bar. Everyone in the cabin lit up at the same time and it looked like a fog had set in.
  19. And to think it's going to happen in spite of their history as a military institution. The iconic Corps of Cadets go far toward shaping the Aggie gameday experience. To honor tradition and the university’s roots as a military institution, the presence of the 2,200 members can be felt as they make their way through campus. https://today.tamu.edu/2023/06/28/corps-of-cadets-announces-march-in-schedule-for-2023-football-season/
  20. Oddly brand specific, but nevertheless I'm IN.
  21. This. In fact my mom never had a car. We were a one car family. My dad would drop her off at her office in downtown FW and pick her up after work.
  22. When I was in HS, our French teacher mentioned Wesson Oil parties in class one day. When we asked what a Wesson Oil party was, she said "rubber sheets and a bottle of Wesson oil". We were a little stunned and too naïve to take the hint.
  23. I believe most will choose the LMTFA option.
