  1. I had to get a CT done on my shoulder today. Between the two old deaf guys screaming their maladies and aches at each other and the other talking with the speaker on her phone I felt very surly.
  2. And Bridget Fonda....
  3. Yeah, I probably won't wave.
  4. We'll wave at you as we're on our way up.
  5. How in the hell can this even be the same woman?
  6. My daughter volunteers to help upkeep neglected cemeteries. She always reminds me of this and believes markers and tombstones are a tribute and reminder for the common man/women. I really can't disagree with her, though I know I'm the only one that ever visits my mom and dad's grave.
  7. I told a funeral saleswoman (who was trying to sell me a prearranged funeral) that my wife could put me in a garbage bag and set me on the corner for the truck to carry me away. Also my wife is a retired teacher so she is not entitled to any of my Social Security. So I told her to buy a new freezer, fold me up and put a lock on it so she could keep collecting my SS checks. I travel all over the backroads in the state. Every 5 miles there is a sign pointing to a cemetery down a dirt road that hasn't been visited in 20 years. After your kids are gone, no one is going to stop by anyway, so who cares where your carcass ends up?
  8. I will quit complaining about my wife being on Facebook for 3 hours a night and appreciate the silence.

    Gym Pet Peeves

I've seen/heard people use their phones while sitting at a machine and even on the commode. But today was the first time I ever heard someone on their (speaker) phone while they were taking a shower.
  10. I'm not too sure Jerry would care about media that might come back to bite him.....
  11. So does anyone else have an automatic blood pressure cuff on or within reach of the kitchen table?

    Getting old sucks

I thought you were singing about this...
  13. Completely understand. I still like having cash in my pocket even though I usually charge everything from a store. There's still a lot of guys who like to be paid in cash and will deal with you on the cost of work/things.
  14. Must be an old guy thing. Most guys I know keep a wad of cash on hand for emergencies. Myself included.
  15. Same here. I get all kinds of deals paying cash. I don't really care if my mechanic pays tax on it if he knocks 30% off the deal.

    Getting old sucks

When I got my first "finger" exam, my fairly young, female urologist said " Now comes the unpleasant part, please bend over". I told her that the most unpleasant part was probably her view.

    Getting old sucks

When I was 14, I weighed 300 lbs. As soon as I started playing HS football I dropped 60. In college I hit 185. 45 years later I'm at 190. I watched a lot of family gain weight and die of weight related problems. If you put on 3 lbs a year, in 20 years your 60 lbs overweight, so my goal is to stay close to the same weight as I age. I don't stick to any specific workout or diet, I just do what I feel like to keep my weight constant. A lot of walking and old man (light) weights now.
  18. Lol. I just not fond of Snyder. And there are some amazing views when you get off the beaten path if you like high plains and vista's. Highway 207,from Post to I40 has some great scenery as do a lot of the highways up there. They're just not the quickest way to get anywhere. Last time I came back from Panhandle I saw 3 cars in 60 miles and I got to drive through the southern end of Palo Duro canyon.
  19. I'll drive 50 miles out of my way to avoid Snyder.

    Getting old sucks

And I once heard a guy say that he didn't want to go to a doctor to have a colonoscopy because he was afraid that the doctor would tell him he had cancer.

    Getting old sucks

My PSA is constantly above 6 and hit 13 last year. But because I get checked twice a year (for the last 6 years) I didn't freak out and further test showed no cancer. I just left the hospital visiting a friend. He had no need for doctors and decided to quit his high blood pressure medicine months ago because he didn't like the way it affected him. 6 weeks ago he had a stroke. When they checked him into emergency they also discovered that he also had A-fib and was diabetic. He couldn't talk or use his right arm and had to walk with a walker. He had a second stroke last night. When I walked in he was crying because I'm pretty sure he got the diagnosis that this is his life from now on. He can't even make noises now and can barely move his right foot. He's 64 years old. All because he didn't think he had to have check ups or listen to his doctor.
  22. This probably belongs in the old's thread but since we travel in my wife's car it's applicable here; we still keep the old foldable, paper maps in her car. When we get off the beaten path it's nice to know what your option are.
  23. Waze may be ok in the city but once you get rural hasn't been very reliable. I was calling on a lot of wind farms in the Panhandle and New Mexico a couple of weeks ago with a factory rep who used Waze. It tried sending us on all kind of out of the way routes, sometimes adding 50+ miles to the trip. It may be because of the smaller sampling groups in those areas but it was wonky at best.
  24. My son and I were eating lunch today and one of those "judge" shows was on at the deli. It had the typical cast of characters. It dawned on me that it would be more entertaining if the judge was a "Only law west of the Pecos" type, who might show up in court drunk or stoned and render verdicts and penalties/punishment following random thoughts and tangents that went through his/hers addled mind. The contestants would have to sign contracts agreeing to abide by the verdict. Anyone want to volunteer or nominate a the judge and suggest show parameters?
  25. Back to the topic at hand.....I was at a customers the other day and one of the guys was wearing a face covering. I thought maybe he was still worried about covid. But after a while he said he wanted to explain his covering and pulled out his phone to show pictures. His pit bull got into a fight with his other dog. He reached in to separate them and the pit turned on him. The pit stuck his snout in the guys mouth and latched on to his jaw. He broke his jaw and tore all the ligaments and muscle on his face. It looked like someone had taken a razor blade and sliced marionette lines under his mouth. Tore all his teeth out and left his jawbone just hanging down. He needs 6 surgeries and will never have full use of his jaw again. The pit won the battle but lost the war when they had to shoot him.
