    Getting old sucks

He said he cleaned it up, whatever than entailed. But I only had one shoulder done so the other one is still not good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but the way they both hurt most of the time, I'm thinking surgery is eventually going to be necessary.

    Getting old sucks

When I had rotator cuff surgery my doctor said never do any compound movements where your elbows bend more than 90 degrees. It puts too much pressure on them. He also said I had arthritis in my shoulders so I'm thinking that replacement surgery is in my future. Good to know that it's something you can recover from.
  3. It's as clear as mud but here are two sources of info, state and federal. https://guides.sll.texas.gov/gun-laws/carry-of-firearms http://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?path=/prelim@title18/part1/chapter44&edition=prelim I had a buddy in a similar situation but I believe he was convicted for shoving his wife on a bed before he left the house after an argument. I don't know the whole story but I know her mother hated him with every ounce of her being and went after him like a pit bull to break them up. All I know is he couldn't posses anything other than something for defensive purposes in his own home.
  4. ^^This^^ But be careful when buying one. Few of them are rated safes, most are secure storage cabinets. Go on YouTube and see how easy it it to break in to most of them sold in retail stores. You definitely want to spend a little more and get a good one. Search on Craigslist for real UL rated safes too. You would be surprised what you can find with a little patience. I found two jewelers safes for sale a few years ago. 1 1/4" thick steel walls and door, 4000 lbs each. I don't have anything that valuable but after a home break in a few years ago I realized I have a lot of lot of sentimental stuff I'd like to protect. A buddy of mine and I got them for $400 each because the guy didn't want to mess with them. At the time they retailed for $8K. We had to rent 5000 lbs forklift to move them but we did it.
  5. I bought a Saiga .410 a few years ago. It's a fun little shotgun. I didn't know you could adapt AR platform to .410.
  6. Yeah, that's why fat ass old men shouldn't get in fights. The kid looks like he's stoned so he never sees the 2 mph fist of fury flying at him. He hits the kid right where it should be lights out and it doesn't even phase him besides pushing him over. If the kid knew what he was doing, he would have grabbed the guys belt, yanked him forward, face down on the seats and wailed on him. And I'm not saying the kid wasn't an asshat but I always laugh at old men who think they're a lot tougher than they really are.
  7. In HS I went out with a girl whose dad owned/ran carnival rides. She was everything you think the daughter of a carnival operator would be, wilder than hell but my naïve mind to too stupid to take advantage of it. She ended up marrying a drug dealer who committed suicide while she was pregnant. Last time I heard about her she was a 400+ lbs recluse who never left the house.
  8. I mentioned this in the HS fight song thread. Clyde HS has (had?) Wild Irish Rose as their fight/school song. I don't know what the words were but when we went to games out there I always felt like we should sway and sing WIR in a drunken slur.
  9. The jeweler I first spoke with mentioned lab created diamonds too. Luckily I bought in '83 when I was young and poor so it was pretty small to begin with.
  10. Yeah, mines a tightwad too. Unfortunately, that's probably part of the reason she didn't spend money to get it fixed. She learned the hard way.
  11. I looked and it's just one but I didn't remember if it had little diamond-oids around it that could have fell out too. And I'm taking it to the jeweler. Even though she's frugal, I can see them talking her into adding more to it because it's an anniversary that ends in a zero.
  12. Guess that demon wasn't as tough as she thought she was.
  13. A couple of years ago my wife told me the setting on her wedding ring was loose and ask me to tighten the prongs holding the diamond in place. I did but told her to take it to a jeweler to get it properly fixed. After a couple of months I asked her if she got it fixed. "No I haven't had time but I will". I asked the same question every few months and received the same response. I finally just quit asking. Last Saturday she came up to me and said "Don't be mad but the diamond fell out of my ring and I lost it". I didn't get mad and just laughed. I didn't even have to say "I told you so". Now guess who gets to buy new diamonds for our 40th?
  14. To be fair, all this started when I jokingly made a off the cuff comment about anarchy and leaving the house in a mess with the kids while a wife left town for a trip with her friend. Strictly as a passive/aggressive power move. I got called out for being kind of a jerk for suggesting it. I simply stated that sometimes being a jerk was the only way to get a point across to a clueless woman. Then gave examples of why I was a jerk a couple of times to get a point across. It digressed from there. Maybe just a cathartic side trip. Very much in the same manner that the Sugarbaby thread went from how to deal with 19 yo SB's to discussing cancer patients and air inflated wieners. But we can still all agree that our wives do stupid shit
  15. And to be fair, she did offer to cancel her trip and go but I was so pissed I told her not to worry about it, I already had it handled.
  16. She stood with me when I tried to self destruct and drink myself to death when my dad died two weeks after we got married. Overall, the good things far outweigh the bad. And she has seen the light and changed. Just as I have. 40+ years as I said earlier. And I'd still die/kill to protect her. She was an old ex-girlfriend who I set him up with!
  17. LOL. I forgot where I was. I never claimed to be a smart man.
  18. OK, one of the bigger ones. Ten years ago, test showed I might have cancer and I scheduled an MRI and biopsy, 3 moths in advance. This required two days in Dallas and I was not able to drive myself after the procedures. She decided that it was more important to go to a Women of Faith conference with her friends and leave me hanging. She said they would pray for me. I didn't want to reschedule, because cancer. She was clueless why I was mad for her screwing with my MRI AND CANCER BIOPSY. I ended up having to call a friend and his wife drove me to the procedures over a two day period. She didn't even call to see how it went because the conference went all day. She's done similar shit over a surgery I had (wouldn't take the day off to drive me) and didn't even check on me until it ran 3 hours late. And there was a time when I had a 3 day hospital stay, fighting an infection after another biopsy gone wrong. She was out of town the first day but the second day she was "too tired" to stop by the hospital on her way home. And I could literally look out my window and watch her drive by on the freeway when she passed. And did I mention the 7 months with no sex episode?
  19. She has called me "Mr Turd in a punchbowl" and " he who will cut off his nose to spite his face". But see my explanation to nnm. I'm not an asshole but I can go zero to full asshole if pushed enough.
  20. For a healthy marriage, you are 100% spot on. We've been married 40 years. She knows I will die/kill for her and my family. I remember every time she cried because of something I did and I never did it again. But she has not always been perfect either and was genuinely clueless and defensive when I pointed out hurtful stuff that she did wrong. I'll save examples for Wives and the Stupid stuff they do thread. I have done stuff to get my point across not because I'm an asshole but because I got tired of being dumped and she wouldn't listen. Perimenopause and menopause were HELL in my house. And I do like sexy time. But around the 10th year in our marriage, she cut me dry off for 7 months. She would not tell me why and I'm not sure she really knew either, she was just angry and not in the mood. ALL THE TIME. At least now she will listen when I have complaints and we work through them.
  21. Take the weekend off too. Let the kids eat/do what they want. Leave their crap all over the place and dishes in the sink. If she's like my wife it will drive her crazy and it will make her question future trips. But my advice may need a warning label: Passive/aggressive marriage advice is my specialty but it may not work in all situations.
  22. My wife taught elementary for 20 years. She couldn't discipline or even touch a student. She had a 3rd grader who would get up in class, knock things off other kids desk and walk on the tables. All she could do was say "please set down". She would call the office and it would take 10-15 minutes for the assigned "discipline" person to arrive, while the student behaved this way. Then they would take him to the office, give him candy to calm him down and send him back. The real problem are spineless administrators and bullying parents. Teachers are forbidden to film the kids acting up so parents continually harass districts with threats because "my child wouldn't act that way. It's the teachers fault." Then the teacher gets written up. So by the time they get to high school they think they are bullet proof and to some extent they are.
  23. Yeah but I hear all kinds of stories about guys just like the one you know. Rooms/houses full of guns. The guy I took my ccl class from lived in an old double wide and had several more on his property. I think he had 8 gun safes on his property and probably had several hundred thousand $$$ in guns. He probably had some buried too. He carried 3 guns on his person at all times, even while he was in his house. And he had at least 5 rifles in his vehicle. He definitely liked guns.
  24. I knew a guy who had well over 1000 firearms. He had so many, he bricked in a 40' container and put a safe door on the front. Years ago when AR prices went nuts I ask him about selling some of his. He said he had at least 28 of them. When I told him if he sold them he could clear $70K he told me he was going to wait until they were outlawed and sell them before the ban went into effect because they would be worth more. For someone so gun smart, he was a dumbass. And I think the gun hoarding scenario is more common than most people think. I know a few people who have a LOT of guns and like you said, most people keep it quiet for security purposes.
