  1. Dusty Dvoracek was spitting venom like Daffy Duck this morning, all the while saying he wasn't upset. It made for entertaining radio.
  2. Why not Pruno? If they can hide it from the prison guards then no one will ever notice it in the bathroom. https://www.thrillist.com/drink/nation/how-to-make-prison-wine-how-to-make-pruno
  3. "A lot o' people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch o' unconnected incidents 'n things. They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice o' coincidence that lays on top o' everything. Give you an example; show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness."

  5. Picking up a car with a forklift can do some serious undercarriage damage. I heard a story of a salesman, who in the late 70's, made a sales call to at the GM plant in Arlington in something like a Volvo. He pissed some of the guys off and they moved his car out of the parking lot with a forklift. It screwed up brake lines, cables, exhaust etc. My guess, if it's real, is they used some of those car dollies that you can put under the tires that allow you to move cars around the shop.
  6. I wouldn't put it past a repo guy to wrap a chain around the axle and pull it out sideways. Especially if the current driver or car lot owner had pissed him off.
  7. So did the field announcer just say "This is the end.........(looong pause)......... of the quarter". I had my hopes up for a minute that this was done.
  8. Just finished my 3rd MRI and 4th biopsy this week. For years my local urologist ran all the predictive test and kept telling me I had cancer or was about to get it. I think she finally got bored with me because I didn't. She finally said she wasn't focusing on prostate cancer anymore and sent me to UTSW in Dallas. I'm glad she did. They are truly a world class organization and I drive 3 hours and do overnights just to get in. The last 10 years my PSA have shot through the roof. My last one was 12.8. Everyone I know that had a PSA that high had cancer. My new doctor didn't panic and said let's just check it out. He actually listens and help me work through it. He even gives out his personal cell number and answers it himself when you call. He was right and everything came back benign once again so I guess I am always going to be in PSA limbo. I tried Flomax and a couple of others and didn't like the side effects. So I just live with BPH now. And interestingly Cialis is a possible treatment for flow problems but I guess insurance companies don't want a bunch of horny old men wandering the streets and won't pay for it. Prostate cancer was the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths in men and probably the most treatable. If left untreated it will spread to vital organs and then you're really screwed. So listen to GOTJ, get checked early and yearly.
  9. When my daughters were young, I ask both of them to be careful who they hung with and to never put themselves in a situation that would eventually put their dad in prison. If he did that to my daughter, he wouldn't live to see another sunrise.

    Getting old sucks

Yeah. When I tore my rotator cuff they tried to get me in a regular MRI machine. When I said hell no, they used an open MRI. I still could barely make it and the 20 year old female tech had to come out and hold my hand to make sure I didn't leave. Xanax is a miracle pill.

Another high PSA, so it's off my 3rd MRI and 5th prostate biopsy in 6 years. I ended up in the hospital with a serious infection after one of them. And last time I had a biopsy they stuck me 34 times. I'm really surprised I have anything left. And I have to load up on Valium to even walk into a room with an MRI.
  14. Jerry Springer lost his job as Mayor because he paid hookers with checks. And you have to be a frequent flyer to pay for hookups with a check.
  15. If you get in a conversation with your wife about her weight, you're a dead man. It didn't matter what you say or the context of your answer, you're going to be made to regret it. You can agree that she looks great if she lost weight and she will respond "So you thought I was too fat before?"
  16. We call it male pattern deafness. When I'm focused or doing something, I don't start listening until after she gets the first sentence out. When I say "what?" I get tone and attitude. I'm trying to train her to say my name and wait until I acknowledge before finishing whatever she has to say. I've been working on her for 38 years and I haven't made any progress though. I think I'm going to do like her father did to her mother and feign deafness. She would bark at him and he would completely ignore her. After a while she would just gripe about him needing hearing aids.
  17. Can you sign the monkey to an NIL? Seems like he deserves it and we don't need him in the portal.

When I went to see the doctor after my surgery I ask him how long rehab would take. He told me 3-4 months and I told him I would finish it 3 weeks. He laughed and said "good luck". And he was right. it took every bit of 4 months. I had to sleep in a recliner for 4 weeks because it hurt like hell to lay flat in a bed. I had no strength in the shoulder for a couple of months, I was lucky to get my arm above my head. I probably got back about 60-70% of my strength. I could probably do more but I don't have anything to prove to myself anymore and don't want to risk screwing it up again or injuring the other shoulder. I was developing arthritis in both shoulders too, so that could play a part. The biggest thing I lost was flexibility. I can't extended my arm completely straight in the air anymore. I have tried to stretch it back for years and it just ain't happening. The doctor told me he just wanted it to be close to where it was before and I guess it is. I wouldn't want to go through it again and that's why I've transitioned into "old man" weight lifting with a lot of circuit training. Not trying to get big anymore, just trying to stay in some kind of decent shape.

I'm 62. I tore my rotator cuff 6 years ago doing dips (too deep). I started lifting back in the 70's so I had a good 40 years of abuse to my shoulders and my only solution was surgery. I'm not sure it's an injury that repairs itself over time. Mine was pretty bad but the doctor told me if I didn't have surgery I would never have strength in that shoulder again. He also said if I didn't change my workout, to expect the other one to go too. He told me whatever I do I should cut back on the weight and never bend my elbows past 90 degrees. Never hurts to see a doc. You can always say no to surgery.
