    Getting old sucks

Yesterday I stopped in to see an old friend at one of my old accounts. Because of sales territory changes, I haven't been in for a couple of years but I just stopped in to say Merry Christmas. I walked in and we had a normal conversation, just like we used to. He's 64, 3 years from retirement and he told me all his plans. He owns a hunting lease and told me about running it, etc. He said he hadn't even touched his rifles in a year, that he didn't need to shoot them because the bucks were too small right now. When we were done, I walked out to see a couple of people in the tool crib. I started giving one guy a hard time about not being able to get my buddy to retire so he could have his office. He told me that he is already doing all the work because my buddy has advancing Alzheimer's and basically sits in his office all day staring at his computer screen and filling out surveys. He has been with his company for 37 years so they just let him come in as a courtesy for all his years of service, because he has no where to go. His wife has taken all his guns away so he won't hurt anyone. It scared the hell out of me because he covered it so well. I knew that people with Alzheimer's could fake their way pretty well but he shocked me. And it's a gut punch because he worked his ass off for years so he could enjoy his retirement and right now he doesn't even have a clue as to what he's doing every day. Getting old really does suck.
  2. Maybe since they had their pants on they couldn't count past 10.
  3. I wasn't sure where to put this this thread seems as good as any. I went to a 3A playoff game last bight between Roosevelt (near Lubbock) and Gunter. On one play in the second quarter the Roosevelt slot guy went in motion. But instead of taking a step back and running behind the offensive line, he took a step forward and ran between the offensive and defensive line. No one jumped and they ran the play like it was perfectly normal. The refs didn't even throw a flag until someone finally realized what happened long after the play was over.
  4. What are they going to push the legislature to rename in honor of Elko for his unloyalty?
  5. Plate of shrimp
  6. Everybody's doin' it! KCup17 9:08a AG Most athletic departments in the country run at a deficit. I think something in the range of 70%. Either run at at a deficit or push it on the university as institutional debt.
  7. So besides the "Next year is the year" (or 2023 at the latest) thread, https://texags.com/forums/5/topics/3256268 there is a new thought/problem: Jimbo is recruiting so many 4/5* players they're going to have to revoke offers of all the lesser * players on the team to make room for them https://texags.com/forums/5/topics/3256512
  8. LOL. I had a boss once who said the town of Crews was named after his grandfather. He was old school aggie/corp red ass.
  9. I would have set a pallet full of water in front of the door and let the asshole contemplate the consequences of his decision for awhile.
  10. When all their women hit three hundred pounds from pork ribs, we're probably going to be in another war with Korea.
  11. I sell fall protection to renewables and telecommunications customers. This guy is not only stupid, the announcer is full of shit. He says this is called free climbing, meaning the guy never ties off or attaches to the tower and that most workers do it this way. They don't. It is not allowed by OSHA in any form and only a dumbass with a death wish would climb without being attached to the tower at all times.

My second urologist was a woman who was an 8th grader in an after school program with my daughter. At my first appointment, she said "I remember you". It was really awkward.
  13. While at OU he beat a HS friend with a baseball bat so bad that his friend required hospitalization. Stoops suspended him for a while then invited him back with open arms. He has a show on XM.
  14. I think they gave him one of these so everyone would be safe.
  15. Dusty Dvoracek was spitting venom like Daffy Duck this morning, all the while saying he wasn't upset. It made for entertaining radio.
  16. Why not Pruno? If they can hide it from the prison guards then no one will ever notice it in the bathroom. https://www.thrillist.com/drink/nation/how-to-make-prison-wine-how-to-make-pruno
  17. "A lot o' people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch o' unconnected incidents 'n things. They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice o' coincidence that lays on top o' everything. Give you an example; show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness."
  18. The life of a repo man is always intense
  19. Picking up a car with a forklift can do some serious undercarriage damage. I heard a story of a salesman, who in the late 70's, made a sales call to at the GM plant in Arlington in something like a Volvo. He pissed some of the guys off and they moved his car out of the parking lot with a forklift. It screwed up brake lines, cables, exhaust etc. My guess, if it's real, is they used some of those car dollies that you can put under the tires that allow you to move cars around the shop.
  20. I wouldn't put it past a repo guy to wrap a chain around the axle and pull it out sideways. Especially if the current driver or car lot owner had pissed him off.
  21. So did the field announcer just say "This is the end.........(looong pause)......... of the quarter". I had my hopes up for a minute that this was done.
  22. A kick in the nuts is breathtaking too. Maybe that applies here.
  23. Just finished my 3rd MRI and 4th biopsy this week. For years my local urologist ran all the predictive test and kept telling me I had cancer or was about to get it. I think she finally got bored with me because I didn't. She finally said she wasn't focusing on prostate cancer anymore and sent me to UTSW in Dallas. I'm glad she did. They are truly a world class organization and I drive 3 hours and do overnights just to get in. The last 10 years my PSA have shot through the roof. My last one was 12.8. Everyone I know that had a PSA that high had cancer. My new doctor didn't panic and said let's just check it out. He actually listens and help me work through it. He even gives out his personal cell number and answers it himself when you call. He was right and everything came back benign once again so I guess I am always going to be in PSA limbo. I tried Flomax and a couple of others and didn't like the side effects. So I just live with BPH now. And interestingly Cialis is a possible treatment for flow problems but I guess insurance companies don't want a bunch of horny old men wandering the streets and won't pay for it. Prostate cancer was the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths in men and probably the most treatable. If left untreated it will spread to vital organs and then you're really screwed. So listen to GOTJ, get checked early and yearly.
  24. When my daughters were young, I ask both of them to be careful who they hung with and to never put themselves in a situation that would eventually put their dad in prison. If he did that to my daughter, he wouldn't live to see another sunrise.
