  1. Plus it will make it harder for teams to double cover Kelce. The thing that is concerning me most about the defense is that no one is making the nail in the coffin/stake through the heart plays. Every rule change the league makes helps the offenses. You won't see Steel Curtain type of defenses any more in the NFL. Your defense can't win with body shots. You only get so many chances at landing a clear hook right on the chin of the offense. When you get one you have to connect with it. You don't see our defensive backs trying to play the ball. You don't see a second man in on the tackle trying to punch out or strip the football. Hell, a lot of times you don't see a second man in on the tackle. I would rather the defense make three or four momentum and morale crushing plays than thirty routine plays that the other team has forgotten about two plays later. Particularly when you take into account that putting a team into a 4th and 2 or less situation means there is still only about a 50% chance your defense is coming off of the field by the end of the next play. Under normal situations if a defense is facing a 3rd and 8 and gives up a gain of 5 or 6 yards they have done their job. With this team they haven't. Given how teams are playing the Chiefs now if the Chiefs defense is facing a 3rd and 8 it is really a 3rd and 4 because of how aggressively other teams go for it on fourth down when they are playing the Chiefs.
  2. Not as weak as counting on what the Chiefs currently have at cornerback and linebacker is. You don't have to be the best team all year to win the Super Bowl. You have to be good enough to be able to win on the road and good enough to get into the playoffs. Then it's all about getting hot at the right time of the year--December, January, and February--and luck, luck is always a factor for any team that wins a championship.
  3. You watch Fisher play and you think "this is a number one overall draft selection?" . Then you watch Irving play in his place and you think "you know he really isn't all that bad." Should get Hill back in a week or two. That will change some of these defensive schemes the Chiefs have been facing since he went out. The big scare now is Chris Jones being injured. That is the one guy on defense that is playing like more than a JAG this year.
  4. Losing games matters to KC because they have zero chance to go to NE and win in January. NE can win in KC. They already showed that. Without home field, KC better bank on someone else knocking them off. And when is the last home divisional game NE has lost? KC has a better chance of beating NE anywhere than any other team in the AFC. They need to make some trades before the deadline to improve their defense but they are the only team in the AFC who can play in Foxboro and not be beat the minute they step off of the bus.
  5. Way to early to make that call. By my count KC has lost four starters in this game to injuries (and I'm not including Watkins in that figure because I never saw him step on the field). If NE has a game like this in December and loses four starters on defense a healthy Chiefs team can beat them. There is also still the trading deadline to play out. Right now both KC and NE's chief competition is the injury report. Those two teams are still the class of the AFC and no other team in that conference is going to finish within two games of either of them. Losing key players is more of a concern for either team than losing games is.
  6. There's only five minutes left. KC's defense isn't stopping Indy's running game and giving the offense another shot anyway. It was now or never.
  7. That was the other thing. If Pringle just takes that straight up field he easily makes a first down.
  8. Right call going for it. Stupid not to take a time out first though. Should have called time out and came out and run a screen pass.
  9. I use to agree with this but special teams are coached so well on coverage today that at least half the time that ball is going to be downed on the one yard line.
  10. If games like this are going to be the norm the NFL is going to have to increase team rosters to 200 players.
  11. Hard to tell if KC has a running back or not. First you have to call a running play to figure out if you have a running back.
  12. Let's hear from all the fantasy football savants who started Bryan Pringle this week.
  13. They do however work at The New Yorker, which is also part of the media. And to answer the flag burning question posted earlier, it is protected speech. Just like my speech to proclaim anyone that does it to be an unpatriotic, moronic loser is.
  14. Might be the first thing we have ever agreed on. I keep wondering how anyone can be so stupid not to see that this is all political and that the last thing the Democrats want to do is go through with an actual impeachment process and that the "whistleblower", Schiff, and some leftover Brennan loyalists in the intelligence community set this up back in August and then I read this forum. You'll kick that football someday Charlie Brown.
  15. Fr and Soph years I believe, his Jr and Sr years were with Jake Waters.
  16. I'm at least 50% certain he was trying to throw that away.
