  1. I don't want to clog up the HWH press thread so I'll post this here. It's kind of amazing that nobody (cough Rovell cough) has linked the identities of the people behind HWH with their profiles. Good thing we drown out those substantive discussions with mcribs and chicken fried steak. Only degenerates like me/us can keep up.
  2. Alright boys, all this chicken fried steak restaurant orders talk is nice, but let's get to the important discussion. Hit me with your best recipes. I played around with a bunch of breading mixes awhile back and came out with some pretty good stuff. However at this point I've forgotten which were the best. Guess I'll have to do it again. Oh no. Hell, depending on how long Quinn drags this out, I might be able to try out any suggestions and report back.
  3. Well Quinn only has one because he committed lol
  4. Not the biggest thing but Brett Kollmann (does NFL breakdown on YT) is a fan
  5. All I know is if @RGBIII says jump I ask how high. If he says sign a petition I say hmm ok I don’t fully understand but it I’ll do it
  6. Ah yeah that's right. Looks like he's at Blinn now lol
  7. Isn't Haselwood the kid whose dad had to go on tour apologizing to staffs because of how he acted on visits?
  8. LOL doesn't help that their uniform looks like Auburn
  9. And A&M already has all the top players so there's no one left to recruit advantage Texas
  10. QUICK GET THE EWERS BAMF AWARD THREAD UP haha, just kidding... unless?
  11. Anyone have access to the full article?
  12. ctj already has this covered but I'll add on A) The university/AD has done nothing proactive in the space B) If you're complaining about the timing, go fuck yourself. It's damn impressive that some of our alumni have worked through the process of forming the appropriate business entities, recruited the talent to run the entities, and raised north of ten million dollars, all in four and a half months. By next week we will have three of the biggest NIL programs in the country, with more happening in the background.
  13. Don’t worry, there will be a role for us little guys What starts here. Get it right motherfucker They already have a bunch of this stuff. The NIL law requires it and then there’s stuff on top of that as well
  14. Very nice then. The other, non-6k thing is exciting
  15. There's a certain irony in this board coming together to bully people into burnt ends as a way to support the kids
  16. From my understanding of the rumored NIL announcements, one was the annual $6k payment to athletes that was announced last week. That's nice but doesn't move the needle for the purposes of the current discussion (football 5 stars). No comment on the other thing.
  17. UT won't be doing anything of the sort From the university's NIL FAQ: ETA: I think this is a strict interpretation with easy workarounds, but point is that if you want to contribute to NIL, you just need to go out and do it.
  18. This is required reading now that bag man discussion is big again https://www.bannersociety.com/2014/4/10/20703758/bag-man-paying-college-football-players
  19. For those asking about enforcement: the state law requires players to submit all their NIL contracts to the university prior to signing. Then they make sure the deal follows the rules as boss man explained them. Compliance is very easy to work with on that front. Right now the biggest hurdle you'll hit trying to pay a player is working with the player. They're understandably busy, cautious, and generally overwhelmed. The leverage lineup is a pathetic attempt by the university to pretend they're doing something to help. The NIL law prohibits universities from directly providing NIL compensation, but that's not the issue here. It's self-inflicted wounds by compliance/AD interpretation of general Texas law prohibiting the use of state resources for private gain. It shouldn't be hard to find workarounds if there were any desire to do so.
  20. I think it's more that they had a good convo with Evan Stewart and are trying to start closing him
  21. Don't overthink it. Casey takes the snap, makes the read, then depending on the throw he or Hudson make the pass
  22. I know it's not preferred but have we considered a 2 QB system? Casey can handle pre-snap checks and generally controlling the offense with a focus on his mobility and intermediate throws. But then whenever he sees someone running open deep he can hand the ball to Hudson to make the throw
  23. I'm indifferent on much of this conversation but the blue blood discussion always intrigues me Blue blood doesn't mean the best current programs or the best current jobs. Blue blood as a term (beyond CFB) has always been about nobility of birth and pride in history/lineage. The blue bloods are Texas, OU, Bama, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio State, and USC. We've been around since the early days of college football and have built our prestige over many generations. We've all gone through stretches of dominance and troughs. We're the programs that built CFB from the start and have been there every step of the way, shaping it into the sport we enjoy today. Sure, we've sucked, and Nebraska sucks, and ND and Michigan have their own issues, but it takes decades to undo history that's been built up for 100 years. There are a ton of variations of the chart below that illustrate this. Total wins, total win %, AP ranks, etc. And they all show a gap between the blue bloods and the next closest group.
  24. Then shit yeah that'll be good for them. It's certainly much better than just providing counsel. The only barrier I could see is agents bogging things down but I imagine that the business will just provide agents of their own I was actually reading through our state bill earlier. It only states that the university can't provide compensation to athletes for their NIL. But on the UT NIL FAQ: May The University of Texas or its staff members assist a SA with arranging for the SA to utilize their NIL for compensation with my business, etc.? No. The University of Texas and its staff members may not arrange for our SAs to participate in NIL contracts or activities. There are two reasons: (1) Texas’ NIL law precludes an institution from providing NIL compensation and (2) Texas law generally prohibits the use of state resources for private gain I work in the UT system so I get point 2. They don't play around with state funds. But there's a definite lack of effort to play within the rules creatively.
  25. How is it a game changer? I'm going purely based off the article. If they're actively hooking guys up with deals or managing brands for the players that's a different story. The Oregon Accelerator sounds like a bigger deal based on how the article is written, but maybe you're privy to more than what is explained in there ETA: When I said some of the stuff being worked on here at Texas, I definitely didn't mean what the school itself is doing
