  1. I've seen that one posted and it shows the cannon, but I like this one a lot more. It's a year later and there's noticeable improvement in his footwork. His ball placement isn't the best in the first but you can't really knock him on that when he hasn't played with the receivers much. Usually look at the tape to judge that... There's also a video of him at 7v7 in 2020 where has a couple really nice throws in tight windows (along with some overthrows but oh well) I think it's an awesome take
  2. Ok put me in the pro-Murphy camp. Ewers #1, Murphy or Klubnik are great backups. Risky QB takes aren't quite as risky in modern CFB. Sark gets the offense humming and we'll be competitive for transfer options. There isn't always a Justin Fields available, but there's usually a JT Daniels, D'Eriq King, Jalen Hurts, Tathan Martell, or Shane Buechele.
  3. This is OB's write up on scholly. They have us at 81, but that doesn't include Ovie because he doesn't arrive until summer
  4. Have you considered it's possible that the years preceding his OV may have affected his recruitment? As in, perhaps he was an OSU lock on his visit, but if we had done a better job recruiting him leading up to that point he may not have been?
  5. Ketch also misspelled Klubnik, the guy he spent 500+ words propping up over the consensus #1 player in the country I went back and looked at the attachments he provided as evidence to support his claim. It's so much worse than you could imagine Legitimately might be the worst 9.95er article I've ever read Edit: somehow one of the images is outside the spoiler and I give up on trying to fix it
  6. In a desperate attempt to get this thread back on track I'm posting some OB content Ketch's Top 100 rankings with some details at the bottom War Room. Actually has some decent information about scholarship numbers Please don't quote me to bitch about Ketch's rankings. I haven't even looked at them and I don't want all the notifications. It's better than the vomit of the last couple pages. And if we get this off topic again I'll post more Ketch content. That's not a threat; it's a promise.
  7. Found a youtube channel with a bunch of 10-25 minute super cuts of UW's defense Looks like it has all of 2016 and 2017 with one game from 2015 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuRFC47U-XpoDiXK5N_4dSg/videos There's also cuts of 2008 Texas defense vs Tech and 2017 Texas defense vs USC if you just really hate yourself
  8. Yeah even when he's just posting stuff from pay sites he still gets it wrong fairly wrong
  9. I've been waiting for the bigger faster stronger reports but I guess different vibes will do
  10. Additional context is that Sark mentions these guys play a lot of special teams. So I guess it makes more sense if he thinks we need like 6 capable bodies for that.
  11. Heh I don't mean to make it sound like church camp. But our virtual visits were not as good as our competitors last cycle. I wasn't on this board for most of last year so I don't know what kind of discussion was had but it's going to kill us this spring if the new staff doesn't make changes.
  12. Forget boring virtual tours and zoom slide shows They need to make some hype live stream events Make a private Facebook group. Invite the prospects. Do a tour or whatever shit quickly but then have some current players out on the lake with GoPros and turn the stream over to them. Still want to follow distancing so maybe a cliff diving competition or water sports instead of a boat party. Organize a game/contest that the croots can do from home with coaches and players. Maybe a dunk contest or something. Do a private inside the nba style show with some scheme info or whatever but also top 10 and shaqtin a fool segments featuring spring practice clips. Point is to mix normal recruiting stuff with something new. One minute PK is pitching Kamari Wilson on all the safeties he's put in the league and breaking down film, the next DMO is roasting the shit out of a DL for not wearing enough arm bands and getting pancaked. We now have some talented guys committed and a decent product to sell. Be different and fun Announce a big recruiting weekend in the summer once in-person restrictions ease up. Do fun streams every couple weeks to build excitement for the big weekend. Like a preview. Plan it for July and jokingly get guys to "commit"--not to signing but to coming that weekend. The croots come, have a good time, then you can do campus visits and more standard stuff on the next visit because they'll want to return. Make the front of the pitch about coming to have fun and celebrate being able to get together again. This cycle won't all be virtual so let's not get bogged down in zoom. They can be serious over the phone and facetime but I'd like to see us get creative with the virtual space and use it as a driver, not a destination
  13. I'm the one that brought up Smith originally but I'm on the CTJ et al. side of this argument. He wasn't good last year. Bad drops, didn't create separation at a high level. I don't really grade WRs on their route running because coaches teach it differently and you don't lose much by leaving it out. If he was a great route runner he would have been more productive as the slot in a Herman offense. The reason I included Smith is because of his potential. He's the only receiver I can see making a Duvernay-like jump this year. He also brings a unique skill set to this offense (if he's playing to his ceiling). I don't know why he was so different last year--the idea that he bulked up way too much makes sense--but his production on a per-snap basis in his first 6 games as a true freshman was bonkers. Higher than any other receiver we had in the Herman era. It's probably 50/50 on whether he's even a major contributor next year but I mentioned him because he's the only non-Bijan offensive player that I can imagine having an AA type year. And I recognize there's some personal bias there.
  14. Those two and I'd say Jamison has a decent shot at returner and not decent shot at CB. Jake Smith isn't happening but I'll throw him in because I love him
  15. This isn't the best gif I've ever made but it'll probably be the most used
  16. I posted some info up thread but I believe that they could get him in up until Feb. 3rd
  17. Pretty much every non-DL player on this defense has some kind of 'but.' Mitchell is aggressive and physical but sometimes he avoids contact. BJ plays fast and attacks downhill but he misses tackles and is bound to hurt himself or a teammate. Overshown is rangy and puts himself in position to make plays but too often he can't finish. So I totally get both of your points. At this point in the offseason I'm just brainstorming where all our guys could fit. Some of the ideas will be good but some will be bad.
  18. Chip Brown had a Washington radio guy on his podcast this week to talk about PK and Choate. Dude had a ton of praise both of them and Sark. Pretty good listen. He suggested watching the 2016 Stanford game so I watched the first half (it was 30-0 once Stanford got the ball in the 3rd). Here are a couple things I noticed. A lot of it will have been covered in previous posts on the thread but some of it is specific to that game. General stuff: He rarely blitzes. It's mostly 4 man rushes (usually the 4 on the LOS). Dropping 8 or rushing 5 only happened a couple times each. He doesn't stunt a ton. Makes me a bit worried about our lack of edge players. Maybe the new transfers help us out there. Occasionally one of the DTs will stand up and move around on passing downs so that it's not certain which gap he's attacking. He always has at least one safety playing super deep. He primarily plays zone but will mix in man. The MLBs are very important to defend the middle. Given our difficulties with LB zone coverage the last 3 seasons, that's not great. However last year Overshown and Mitchell were the best coverage combo since Malik and Gary Johnson so there's some hope. PK's MLBs also don't play downhill super aggressively so they are less likely to have it thrown over their heads. UW had very disruptive DTs (we do too!) and he brings secondary players into the box to help out (we have big DBs too!). I think we have the personnel to match his strategy. But I do have some worries about getting RPO'd to death. It's difficult to see the back end of the defense on the broadcast angle but PK should match up pretty well with the current Big 12 defensive trend of dropping 7/8 into tampa 2 or quarters. I think I remember seeing some tampa 2 stuff in the 2018 Washington State game. Stanford specific stuff: When Stanford went with their pro style offense (12 personnel or 21 in a traditional I-formation), UW defaulted to a 3-4 tite front. When Stanford went to 11 or 20 from the shotgun, UW usually went with the 2-4-5. Multiplicity is important in the Big 12 so this is nice to see. He'll know how to line up against against the few remaining air raid offenses but he also cane take on power run teams. The big question will always be how he performs against Lincoln Riley but I don't know of any Pac-12 teams that run similar concepts to OU so we won't know until October. Stanford only ran two GT counter-ish plays that I noticed and they combined for seven yards. Nothing particularly telling for the schematic matchup. Their offensive creativity was frankly disappointing. This was McCaffrey's final year and his production was pretty pedestrian. Big 12 offenses will do a lot more with their star gadget guys--see Vaughn, Deuce. That said, UW was clearly keyed in to CMC. The DL/OLBs all knew to watch for him. They blew up a couple screens because the DL watched CMC on their side and didn't bite when the OL let them pass. They also jammed him in the backfield with the MLBs or box DBs a couple times when he ran routes in the interior. Again, nothing mind blowing but certainly better than allowing Overshown to repeatedly get burned by the only productive player left on the KSU roster. Edit to add: We really need Gideon to be a good coach. PK asks a lot of his safeties. It's a talented group but we're replacing a ton of snaps with Sterns and Brown leaving. Ironically I think Sterns would have been a great fit for this defense. Gideon probably has the toughest and most important job of any defensive assistant next year. Some personnel thoughts: I was really high on BJ Foster after his freshman year but soured over the last two years. He wasn't a fit for Ash but the more I watch of PK, the more I think he's going to bounce back next year. Budda Baker was the boundary safety in this game and he was all over. BJ is not the second coming of Baker, but his ability to play in the box and on the LOS makes me think PK will love him. PK has a ton of unique pieces to work with in the secondary and I trust him to put them together right. Another quick take that is much hotter... Juwan Mitchell could be good at one of those OLB spots. He's physical and can take on blockers. The big question with him is always mental--would he have the discipline to set the edge and decision-making ability when he's put in spots of conflict like screens or option plays. But I could see something like Bimage / Coburn / Collins / Mitchell with Ford / Overshown behind them (without counting in the transfers). Edit to add: We really need Gideon to be a good coach. PK asks a ton of his safeties. We have a talented group but we're replacing a ton of snaps with Sterns and Brown leaving. Ironically I think Sterns would be a good fit for this defense. 19. Man I really wish there was like video or something of him playing in football games so that there was a way for us to judge how well his speed translates. Guess we'll just never know
  20. Tennessee was going to hire him as HC a few years back then they had protests on their campus so the AD backed out and hired Pruitt https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/21579125/tennessee-volunteers-no-longer-hire-greg-schiano-head-coach
  21. Seems more like they knew it would be unpopular so they waited until after his zoom tour for a Friday news dump but a Bama reporter scooped it early and they had to deal with the blowback
