  1. Normally I fact check posts about OB info with a friend's login (they get misquoted a lot on here) but Anwar hasn't posted anything since the game and there's no way in hell I'm listening to 75 minutes of Anwar and Ketch breaking down the loss to see if he mentions it there Cristobal is my #2 though. Everyone loves a tier list: 2021 HC tier list S: Urban A: Cristobal B: Campbell, Fickell C: Napier, Harsin, Malzahn D: Fleck, Franklin, Tom
  2. Just keepin my enemies close and my HC closer
  3. Ok, so I'm on the Urban train. I don't believe he's a good person, and I was very much saying he should be fired by OSU during the Zach Smith drama, but I'll compartmentalize that and enjoy the trophies if we hire him. I do want to hear the other side though. As far as I know, there was nothing else at OSU or pre-UF. I know he coached Aaron Hernandez and a couple other bad dudes at UF, but did he actively cover up for them? There's a big difference. This article goes over some stuff but I'm wondering if there's more. I watched the Carlos Hyde video and it's not terrible. Hitting women is bad but it's nowhere near Joe Mixon or Ray Rice. Being suspended a quarter of the season seems about right if the slap is all he did wrong. I read the Aaron Hernandez wikipedia page and it seems like Urban wasn't complicit in that. If Belichick doesn't get blame for that I'm not sure Urban should either. So if someone could summarize all the dirt on Urban I would really appreciate it.
  4. Ok so checking back on this comment I made after Tech. I thought that some minor improvements would make our defense good enough to win the conference. And those improvements have been made, specifically in tackling and LB play. Our DBs still get beat but I've come to accept that as part of life. Just do other things well and you can still play winning defense. I said 27-30 ppg would be good enough to get us to 9 wins and a CCG. We're allowing 30.2 PPG in regulation in conference play. Given our remaining matchups, I bet we get under 30 by the end of the season. Now that 9 win CCG berth was assuming our offense was going to be good. So fuck me for trusting Herman to not shit all over his side of the ball I guess. Lastly, Joseph Ossai.
  5. Ok new idea Hire Urban midseason but have him keep his job at Fox and just use every segment he has to recruit on national tv
  6. I wouldn't hate it if we went for it. We were coming allowing a very long drive that wore our defense down. A three and out risked going down three scores with an exhausted defense.
  7. I'm not coming here to clear Sam of a poor play on that 3rd and 1 because it was bad no matter how you look at it, but I don't think the decision to go deep is that terrible. The guys underneath are wide open but Bijan is three yards behind the defense. It's just a bad throw. Third and short is a great time to take deep shots if you're in four down territory, but the coach and QB have to be on the same page. Sam stayed on the field as if he thought they would go for it but then Tom punted. I think the underneath options are the right move, but if Bijan is the primary read on the play and he's open, then it makes sense for Sam to make the throw without going through his progressions. Anyways all I'm saying is that I understand where Sam is on that play. But it's a bad snap whether you hate the decision or the throw.
  8. The entire thing reads more like a fan post than an insider scoop, which is basically what Ketch is. He buys the scenario that Meyer is coaching here in 2021 but there's no substance behind it
  9. Anyway... Chip's podcast this week was an interview with some ohio state journalist. One interesting thing was that he said Meyer's deal with Ohio State was worked out behind the seasons. The AD wasn't involved. It was just one BMD and an intermediary and everything was lined up before Luke Fickell was fired. Obligatory FCB
  10. Yes, let's hire the guy with infamous mechanics and accuracy as our QB coach
  11. Herman and co. do that too. Pretty sure most CFB coaches do that with local sites.
  12. That's basically my impression I do think they really want Herman gone though
  13. They've said he should be fired but are weirdly fixated on CDC as well
  14. LSU this year is going through the pains we had last year LSU last year is what we were supposed to be this year (I mean we weren't actually going to be as good as LSU last year but you get my point)
  15. The only positive takeaway from waiting on the firing is that sooners don't get the satisfaction of being the team that finished off Herman
  16. Anybody have this athletic article? https://twitter.com/ChrisVannini/status/1315818592802402305?s=20
  17. Urban (or whoever) should have a pretty loaded roster for a first year HC. The 2018 class is a big disappointment thus far but there's lots of talent there. The OL will probably be terrible but an elite HC should be able to win right away. So 9-4 would be fine but I wouldn't be surprised by more This could all go to shit if we hold on to Herman too long and everyone transfers though
  18. Four weeks in to 2018, we lost to Maryland, played Tulsa close, beat USC by 23, then beat TCU by 15. We were ranked 18 and things were trending up with us having stopped TCU's win streak and knowing that wins against Kansas State and OU in the next two weeks would put us on track for the conference championship and more. Sam was emerging as a great QB and the offense's identity was forming around physicality, LJH, and a good enough run game. The team was together. Even after Maryland and Tulsa there weren't hints of clashes like we've had since October last year. This year is nothing like 2018.
  19. Others (OB specifically) have been adamant it hasn't been an issue during his time at Texas
  20. I said in a different comment that it would be ideal to name the new coach the second week of December. Our last game is December 5th, so the next Monday is the 7th. There's a huge difference between having a guy ready to go on the 7th and firing Herman on the 6th then starting your search. See Orlando and Mehringer last year. If we fire Mehringer midseason, name Coleman interim, then either promote him or announce someone else immediately after our last regular season game, do we hold on to Johnston? Maybe, maybe not, but it would've been better than the way we handled it. Plus it keeps the WR happier than having to put up with Mehringer.
  21. Firing him midseason buys you time with players and recruits. If you wait until after the season and bowl, most of 2021 recruits will have signed and much of our team could transfer.
  22. This is my best-case, fairly realistic scenario: Baylor Gets postponed. We lose to or beat OSU, doesn't really matter. Herman loses to WVU and gets fired ahead of the bye week. Giles becomes interim. He seems to have had the fewest issues with players, plus he's an alum and he's been here for awhile. This allows the other coaches to stay with their responsibility and maintains at least one coach with each position group. Giles just needs to keep the players from transferring. Get Urban (or whoever) lined up. Announce him the second week of December once our season is done. Let the staff keep coaching through bowl season if we make a bowl. After the bowl game, Urban takes over. I imagine he may keep Drayton and Ash. Valai and Giles are the only others I could see surviving.
  23. Off the top of my head, LSU, FSU, and Florida all fired their last coach mid-season
  24. Pretty good read. Depressing but good (if it's accurate). OB/Ketch have also been saying CDC pissed off a bunch of Houston BMDs at an event over the summer by trying to bullshit/politic his way out of the eyes issues and not having answers for them
