  1. Spiegelman has an article with Wheaton Pretty useless and not as positive as reports from other sites, but that quote on Oklahoma is hilarious
  2. Full list of TX guys in the Rivals100 5 RB Camar Wheaton 7 OL Savion Byrd 10 OL Tommy Brockerymeyer 20 QB Preson Stone 38 DL Ja'Tavion Sanders 40 OL Donovan Jackson 64 DL Landon Jackson 71 DL Tunmise Adeleye 73 CB Latrell McCutchin 74 WR Quaydarius Davis 80 WR Shadrach Banks 86 DL Marcus Burris 88 ATH Billy Bowman 90 OL Bryce Foster 96 WR Latrell Neville 97 OL Jaeden Roberts 98 QB Jalen Milroe 17 total For reference there are 14 TX kids in the 2020 Rivals100 so I guess it's not too far out of the ordinary. We do look really good at the top of the 2021 list though. Landing two top 10 tackles in one class would be insane.
  3. Yeah, I know you always bank on development. Doesn't change the fact that most guys don't develop and that the room is light in both young quantity and quality. DB and WR are the groups that I think it's fair to bank on be really good in 2021. They had class of 2018 contributors and really good 2019 classes. LB doesn't fit that bill, especially with DGF's uncertainty.
  4. I'd cool the jets that our LB is going to be stacked in two years, but I do think we'll continue to see JUCOs at the position. Decent grad transfers will be hard to find.
  5. As for OL Tommy Brockerymeyer at 10, Donovan Jackson at 40, Bryce Foster at 90 Quay Davis at 74 A bunch of TX DL in there too The entire state is so stacked next year
  6. Steve Wiltfong is the head recruiting guy at 247. He has like a 90% accuracy rating on his crystal balls because he's a national guy and usually puts them in after the guy decides or silently commits. Fong'd is a term for him putting in a CB on a player.
  7. From what I remember about Catalon he was thought to be an Arkansas lean for a long time but we all figured we had a good shot to eventually win out because we're Texas and they're Arkansas. Basically for the same reasons people are saying Broughton isn't going to Arkansas.
  8. Based on that IT report it sounds like the difference between OSU/LSU and Arkansas is that the Arkansas staff feels good about Broughton. He also visited them before talking to Perroni. So they kind of scare me. Also this is all just my own take based on these reports so no clue if there's any truth to it
  9. One thing that stands out to me a bit about Broughton is that he told Perroni a week or two ago that he already has an idea of where he's going to go. Yet after each OV there's a least a little smoke that the team he was visiting has a chance or took the lead. I feel like he might be kind of telling people what they want to hear, whether it's purposeful or not. That seems like it would favor us but idk.
  10. I think it's somewhat interesting that Arkansas has taken two legacies in the last three classes at QB (John Steven Jones and Morris). They better hope they're actually good and not a product of their names.
  11. EJ has an update on Ransom. It's from ND's POV.
  12. Aggies seem to be stuck in a weird crossroads between saying 5' 10" 210lb Deondre Jackson is an ideal SEC back and also wanting 5' 10" 170lb Devon Achane as a RB.
  13. I like the guy that posts the 11.62 100m and says that shows he's faster than his 4.8
  14. Bijan's probably not doing anything next week anyways
  15. Also you know that dude is intentionally putting on the spin because another mod at the same site already said Bijan might commit to us in the next few weeks.
  16. LOL yeah, Ohio State and UcLA are definitely the school's leading for Bijan. And we are definitely the only school that covers UOV costs. Realy does sounds like Liucci
  17. Ringo posted a picture of Evans's quote with the caption "Understandable" It's not a big deal, let's move on
  18. You read that urban dictionary post and politics was the part that disgusted you?
  19. Is McClellan even considering them? Like did he visit them at all this spring?
  20. Ah, very nice. I'm not going to place much value at all into a spring game, but it's good to at least see they have the ability to do that. Jalen Green too.
  21. Roach was our best player before his injury...? I'm just going to leave that one alone. Also statements like "Cook may be one of the best cover corners in the country" are completely unfounded. As for the discussion about Ossai replacing Wheeler in dime packages and his snaps in the UGA game, I went back and found OB's deep dive for the sugar bowl. There were 64 total snaps. Wheeler and Johnson played all of them. Ossai played 53. Texas only ran dime on 17 snaps. Those are all by Alex Dunlap's count. I'm guessing that Wheeler/Johnson stayed at LB during dime, Ossai came off on most dime snaps, but stayed at DE (based on alignment, not whether he stayed standing or got into a down stance) in obvious pass rushing situations. I guess my ultimate point is that we will need a bunch of young guys to make big leaps next year in order to improve. If any of them struggle--and it's more likely than not that at least one does--then our defense will have weaknesses. It won't be bad, but it will have exploitable issues, just like last year's unit. I'm optimistic about all of them, but I'm also realistic in my understanding that not every great HS player will smoothly transition to being a great college player. It would be different if we had 3 unproven guys competing at each spot, but we don't. We generally have one unproven guy with the potential to be a difference maker at each position and that just isn't a recipe for a great defense. I kind of agree. Foster should be really good against the run and blitzing. I'm not sure how his cover skills will be. If he ends up being similar to PJ Locke in coverage but better against the run and when blitzing, will that be enough to be an impact player? I think BJ is great. Trust me my comment is a knock on him at all. I thought he was a top 3 player on our defense last year. But I'm also nervous that Riley could get him iso'd with some 5* receiver 20+ times next season. If you're talking about this play from the spring game, that's McCulloch. I did find that encouraging for his Rover potential. Maybe Ossai did it too but I don't remember that. Also see abo
  22. Assuming Bijan is in, I'd take that.
  23. Playing a 250lb BLB at rover--a position that requires sideline-to-sideline speed and the ability to navigate through traffic and attack holes created by the DL/Mac--sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. It didn't work last year but hey I guess we can run it back. If you meant to put him at Mac (kind of seems that way if you're listing him with Overshown), then that's something I've though about too. Byron Vaughns as well--at least he ran track in HS. But it takes an elite talent like Malik to be able to switch between ILB/OLB so I think it's unfair to expect that out of guys. Ossai didn't come off the field against UGA because they run a pro style offense. That's the exception, not the norm in the Big 12. He'll play most/all snaps against LSU and maybe WVU/KU/Tech. The rest of the season it'll depend on matchups and situations. Also the other wildcard I forgot to mention is Jacoby Jones. A lineup of Jones/Coburn/Roach probably has the highest ceiling at DL next year. But he and Coburn shouldn't be counted on as impact players next year.
  24. I agree with your second and third paragraphs. I generally agree with the first, that we'll be ok on the line. Graham/Wilbon/Roach is a fine but uninspiring lineup (kind of depends on what you expect from Roach which I don't want to get in to again). Ossai is a difference maker as a pass rusher, but we don't know how much he'll actually be on the field. It's unfortunate that he plays what is probably the least important position on the team. He'll likely come off in dime packages that aren't pass heavy situations. In 3rd and long or when we're protecting a lead I expect we'll see some lineups that move Roach to DT and put Ossai at DE. I don't know if he can hold up there in standard downs though. The new hires at WVU/KU/Tech might make the BLB position more relevant but for now it's all just a big question mark.
