  1. Those posters downplaying high school WRs are just so detached from reality. Through 2 games it looks like this WR class is going to be all-time good. Jeremiah Smith, Cam Coleman, Ryan Williams, and Ryan Wingo all look like they'll be awesome. All were 5 stars. I have no idea how the one guy is lumping Leach, Briles, Sark, and Kiffin together as simple offenses while saying Klein is advanced. One of the reasons Sark's offense is so well-regarded is because of all the pro-level concepts he brings in. That post is incredible.
  2. Alex Dunlap had a great writeup on Simmons in his defensive deep dig this week: "Simmons went on to have one of the most absurd games we can remember... In his second game as a true freshman (on limited snaps), just look at the company Colin Simmons keeps."
  3. He's talking about the trenches. It matters. You still have to be athletic and good, but big, athletic, and good will dominate athletic and good.
  4. I'm a big fan of the guy that writes off our win against Michigan but then says Mississippi State is a good team
  5. Sure, let the season play out, but the 1Q yesterday was absolutely a case of him elevating the team. 3rd down conversions of 13, 5, and 7, (plus 11 on the not-TD to Moore) to overcome 25 yards in penalties. He got us off to the perfect start (in terms of strategy) and carried the burden of the offense to do so. Those penalties can derail a script and we didn't test their run defense until Quinn had already worn them down some.
  6. Some long thoughts after two rewatches. I'm going to refer to a lot of timestamps in Nash's condensed game replay. Open that up in another window if you want to follow along.
  7. Huh, we're up to #6 in the 247 composite now. Add Michael Terry III and we jump to #4.
  8. I'm really looking forward to Olin's followup. SEC x3!!!
  9. I like Alex's work generally and I think this is a good descriptive writeup of our offense. I think that he understandably misses a couple things as an outsider only looking at two games (one of which was extremely vanilla): projection on our skill position guys, Sark's dedication to the run and to deep shots, and some of Quinn's strengths and weaknesses.
  10. For those that don't know - the national medal of honor museum opens in Arlington next March. I'm looking forward to that. I think it's cool they do stuff like this so Bill Lonquist '48 and Joe West '54 can regale the group with stories of the corps and national championships. Keep those oral traditions alive.
  11. Development-based programs area also going to have talent cycles. They'll be up in years with a senior and experienced roster and down in years with youth. This year is in the middle, minus the most important position.
  12. CJ Vogel had a nice stat on one of the OTF live streams - Michigan ran play action on 3 of Davis Warren's 26 drop back. There are ways to sandbag a vanilla offense.
  13. Their tackles also got worked all game in pass pro. And they had <30 rush yards.
  14. While we're dragging A&M players, Bryce Anderson can also be seen taking a horrendous angle on the first TD run. He's not blocked on either TD play (first at 10:45, second is timestamped in the video above). The second isn't his fault though.
  15. It looks even worse from the back angle. The pulling TE doesn't even engage York - he's helping the other TE do a reach block on the DE. York is unaccounted for but takes himself out of it completely. Big props to Love for getting through the hole. It's a great run. At this point it's fine. He's a couple steps too far out but the hole is really small and he's in fine position to clog it at least. Giving up 2-3 yards on 2nd and 9 is fine. But he kinda just runs straight ahead into the DE's butt.
  16. I like that we're playing more single high and showed a bear front in week 1.
  17. One soft opinion that I have after rewatching CSU is that Ant Hill's run fits were as big an issue as IDL play. Open to feedback on that. But he overpursued on several of CSU's longer runs. That's fixable and seems like it could be as impactful against Michigan as the IDL.
  18. Something I noticed rewatching CSU. Bill Norton had to teach Jahdae how to use the turnover sword. Big man saved our season keeping Jahdae from skewering his hand.
  19. Sure, he came across as an idiot, but my point was about the setting. I didn’t see it live and a bunch of posters were calling it just a game day segment (one said a “live performance”) so I thought it was a sit down interview or something. Then I watched it and it’s him reacting to a magic trick. Hardly a moment where I’d expect someone to be ‘on’ in a PR sense.
  20. Incredible that they’re analyzing Conner’s “performance” at a fucking magic show as if he were delivering the state of the union
  21. So I watched the game with some extra attention on Taurean York. He reminds me of Jerrin Thompson. Smart and will be in the right spots but really physically limited. He'll look good on a bad defense because there are bigger issues elsewhere, but he'll eventually be a liability that can be targeted. In addition to getting juked pretty badly on the long Notre Dame TD run, he got pancaked by a WR on this play. That's a big yikes for a MLB.
  22. I just put it together that he and Sweat are both on the Titans now. If you sort they're roster by weight, they're #1 and #3 lol.
  23. Eh, I think Marion had worn out his welcome and most people knew that.
  24. Ignore absolutely makes the site more enjoyable. I didn't do it for a couple years to have the pure surly experience but now I've got almost triple digits on my ignore list. Trust me, you won't regret it.
