  1. no, that is not correct and has been addressed several times in this thread
  2. I think it depends on what you like and what you want. I like the classic silverado look and function so I got the "classic" silverado. Boring? probably. Functional? very. It's a work truck. But, after a decade of regular use, it's time to put in some custom seats, console, headliner, carpet or rubber floor, etc. The bed could use a rino coating or something of that sort as well. And, I really like the GMC tailgate and might try to see what I can do to get one on my silverado
  3. Oh, you helped me remember something. years ago, I took the EVO tuner and display off and replaced it with a SCTFlash tuner. I immediately saw a big improvement in horse power and efficiency.
  4. I've had a 2007 Chevy 3/4 ton with Duramax diesel and Allison transmission for a long time, It has 240,000 miles on it and I still love it. I have no plans to sell or trade it in. I took the 5th wheel plate out since I dont have any goose neck trailers but it can be put back in if necessary. My truck does not have the extra fuel tube for additives and I like that also. I dont need that crap gumming up my engine. The interior is getting worn out so I plan on upgrading that at some point but... it's a work truck. People can do and believe what they want but... what I tell my kids is that if you get two vehicles, one needs to be gas and the other diesel even if you dont get a truck. why? The gas lines in the '70s were terrible but the diesel lines were relatively quick. If an emergency happens, you want to give yourself options.
  5. ABSOLUTELY! context matters. Yes, he was talking to me and used the word YOU, which means the response was directed to ME. YOU can twist it any way you want but THAT is the context. wow
  6. RUDE?? on Shaggy/Surly?? hahahahaha now, THAT is funny. No, it is not "rude" nor "pendantic" to take what someone says literally. If that is not what he meant, then he should have worded it the way he meant it. You both must be millennials that think when you dont write something correctly and it's OTHER people's responsibility and fault for not reading your mind. Maybe I need to clarify this response: yes, I am replying to YOU and, yes, when I use the word YOU replying to YOU, I'm still talking to YOU - not everyone else. When I say YOU BOTH while replying to YOU, then, yes, I am still talking to YOU but added someone else. [/sarc]
  7. yeah, I cant remember the year the government mandated digital broadcast (maybe late '90s?) but between that time and when I cut the cord around 2008, apparently, all these sub-channels were added to the basic channels that I had no idea existed - I LOVE it! If I'm working on something and just want background entertainment and dont feel like listening to the radio, something like MEtv is great. My grandsons love Gilligan's Island and Green Acres which is still better than 90% of the crap that is on tv now and I dont have to worry about what pervert is coming on next while I'm out of the room.
  8. good response. Yeah, when I had cable, I got all the basic affiliates (around 2008). I had no idea that there were all these other local channels out there that I was not getting on cable. What is "rando OTA"? I've never heard of that term before
  9. wow... that may have been what you meant but that is NOT what you said. you said: "You [as in me being the person you are responding to] do not get the sub channels that you are referring too." the response is: yes, I do OTA
  10. COZI is good and I like Comet A LOT. I get a station of out of college station that hosts Comet tv.
  11. Of course I do and OTA; about 45-50 channels in all for FREE. That wasnt the question. the question was does YTTV deliver ALL the local channels?
  12. Is this true? Do you get ALL the local channels on YTTV? I'm asking because I dont know; I've never used YTTV. I thought I was getting ALL the local channels on cable but I wasnt; I was getting the basic channels. On YTTTV, do you get the basic local channels AND all the sub-channels? When I was on cable, I did not know there were all those digital sub-channels out there, and I now watch the sub-channels MORE than the basic channels.
  13. oh, yeah, when I decided to cut the cord about 11yrs ago completely from TWC, except for Roadrunner internet I was amazed at the quality of the 45-50 OTA channels I got. It was awesome. I dont watch very much tv and this alone was more content than I needed at a better resolution than I was getting from cable.
  14. Good to know. thanks I've had my Tablo in the garage for years and didnt even know they have an app now. I should pull it out and see what I can do with it now.
  15. hahaha I dont know about sling, Slingtv or slingbox, or sling whatever. And, I dont think I implied that I did. I never said that "PSVue, Hulu, SlingTV,..." were IPTV services. quick on the draw about nothing it looks like. good job
  16. Not true. packs of wild dogs killed a lot of stock animals on the ranches where I grew up. If forced to do so, it is true that some or most breds would not survive as a bred (survival of the fittest or they would interbred) but that is natural, as "in nature."
  17. I've never used sling but from what I understand, Sling is an IPTV type stream not dependent on hardware. If so, then yes, it is website based and you should be able to watch it anywhere there is an internet connection and you have the login. If that is what you like, there are new IPTVs that come out every year and some good ones for around $5 per month. The way I look at it is: if I'm not paying a $120, or $150, or more cable bill, then how much can I experiment on a month and still come out WAY ahead. I'm having a blast testing and trying out different stuff. At one point, I must have experimented with at least 8 antennas. they're cheap and I'm learning something - so what?
  18. yes, the one I have has two tuners so you can record via one tuner and watch on another (so does ChannelMaster if anyone is interested) but that is not the same as watching on two separate tvs if I understood his question correctly and, no, my old tablo did not remotely view from a different location and I would not expect it to now. I would think that would be a remote desktop type or website type capability
  19. It did not use to stream to multiple tvs without additional nodes and each node was a subscription cost at the time. This was a few years ago and things may have changed. I would LOVE to pull the tablo premiere out of the garage and get it going again. at one time, IMO, it was the best recorder on the market and had the best menu. I think others like Channelmaster have caught up on the menu side of things but tablo was and maybe still a better recorder (and I have both tablo and CM). What I didnt like about both tablo and channelmaster is that both recorded in proprietary formats; meaning, I couldnt record something, then take it to my office and watch it directly on my computer... and to me, this was annoying. I may pull my tablo out of the garage and give it another try on one of the tvs and see if there is any change. Oh, BTW, it probably still needs to be a tablo that you formally had a subscription profile on to even pull local channels or that's the way it use to be. Again, things might have changed, but if you are going to use a tablo that was a family member's or friend's, then you might have to sign up for the minimum subscrip to get the system set up with your profile and then cancel later
  20. I dont think anyone is getting "aggro about it"... but cat people are the worst... much worst. and, I have a cat but I will never have more than one cat. why? because there is no upside to having a cat except for women to say aaaawwww. It was funny the other day on nextdoor, a cat lady donated $5 to the homeless shelter and then went on this long speech about how others should feel guilty for not feeling the same and we should feel guilty and shameful for not supporting the homeless shelter. And, again, she gave $5 The next day, she came on the page asking for donations of cat food (which coincidentally cost about $5 per bag) hahaha these hoarders have turned liberalism into a scamming emotional science (yes, that is contradictory, which is the point). These are crazy cat ladies and they are multiplying like... feral cats EVERY DAY one of these old crazy cat ladies come on the site begging for donations to their "rescue", which in reality is they just want others to help (enable) them in their hoarding obsession.
  21. I laughed. and so true but I have to say, cat people are the WORST and it's not even close. There's a neighborhood facebook type chat program called "nextdoor". Our neighborhood nextdoor would be overrun by old cat ladies if we didnt post relevant local stuff daily. and I'm convinced they run these so called non-profit cat rescue and foster homes just to justify their hoarding. it's such a weird subculture.
  22. If you are satisfied, then what's the issue?
  23. no You can get LHN (and pretty much anything else you want) through an IPTV and there are any number of recording options. but, as always, if you want convenience, it'll cost ya
  24. That's just a dumb comment. I did NOT get what I paid for and THAT's the point. And, it doesnt matter if YOU think it's worth it or not. And, not "being happy" wasnt the issue and completely idiotic statement. Whether it's worth it or not in your eyes is irrelevant, ADT did not do what they advertised they/it would do for 5 years and then wanted more. '
  25. Yeah, but I'm seeing this with just about every contracted service. This is why I show very little regard to those that complain that the internet is putting brick and mortar business out of business. Back in 2003 before I went to Iraq, I wanted to make sure that my two daughters living at my house at the time were going to have a working home alarm system. An ADT guy came out and set everything up and assured me that my daughters would be protected (as much as an alarm system can) while I was away. I was more than satisfied paying the setup costs and $31 per month for that assurance. Fast forward, I got back... relaxed for a month and got bills caught up (which is another story on which companies and local government that said I could do cost averaging while away and reconcile everything when I got back - NOT!), then went back into training to go back to Iraq on the next rotation. Fast forward again to when I got back in 2007, I had forgotten about the alarm system and walked out the back door; I heard the beeps but it didnt register until the alarm should have gone off - but it didnt. I did it again a few more times with the different doors and windows and the alarm never went off. I called ADT and they did not show that the alarm was tripped. ADT sent a guy over and he said, yep, it's not working and we need to put in a wireless system. He put in the wireless system fairly quickly and it worked. I told him that it has never done that before. So... after almost 4 years of going back and forth to Iraq expecting the ADT system to "protect" my daughters, the system in fact never worked. And with this, ADT sent me a delightful bill for fixing a system that never worked. I called the regional supervisor, supposedly in Leander, and we went back and forth: he insisted that I "owed" money for a new installation and I insisted THEY owe ME $2000 for service ($31/monthx5yrs) and initial instillation costs that did not work (and they should be happy that nothing serious happened). I disconnected everything they had in my home and they continued to send me bills for second installation and additional $31 per month thereafter for about 6 months even though the system was completely disconnected. These people are thieves.
