  1. I still think everyone is looking at this wrong.  These percentages are not what level of protection each person has after each shot.  They are the percentage of people that build immunities after each shot.   You may get both and have ZERO protection.  That's the 4%.   After the first shot you might be one of the 50% who have ZERO protection.

Fine but it still doesn’t answer the question. After 1 day what percent of the population is immune? What about after 5 days? What about after 15 days?

My guess is that after 1 day you see zero difference in infection rates. What about after 3 days?
  2. You mean 90% after second shot right?

No I mean after the first shot. I have seen “up to” 89% effective and then the 2nd shot getting you to 95%+.

Israel claimed only 30% effective after first shot but people suspect that includes people who were infected in the first 10 days when they aren’t protected much at all.
  3. I really like Veracruz at La Frontera. Their pastor tacos are great. Also like their chorizo, egg, potato breakfast tacos. Migas tacos are also good.

  4. Yes, I have been saying all year that Greg Brown is a great rebounder.  Here's an update on a post I made back on Dec 1 comparing him to other recent bigs. I also added T Thompson, D James, Durant and Aldridge.

If you consider that Greg Brown projects to be a small forward at the next level, he is going to be provide some NBA team with a lot of value with his boards.  He has a style that honestly reminds me of Rodman at times when he goes after rebounds.  Like Rodman, he isn't the most fluid guy, but knows how to take a direct path to where the ball is going to be.

    2021 - G Brown:  14.9 TRB / 40 min, 19.8 TRB%, 9.1 ORB%

    2020 - J Simms:  12.0 TRB / 40 min, 17.8 TRB%, 12.5 ORB%

    2019 - Osetkowski:  10.0 TRB / 40 min, 14.5 TRB%, 9.9 ORB%

    2018 - M Bamba: 14.0 TRB / 40 min, 20.2 TRB%, 12.2 ORB%

    2017 - J Allen: 10.5 TRB / 40 min, 14.6 TRB%, 10.9 ORB%

    2016 - C Ridley: 15.0 TRB / 40 min, 21.5 TRB%, 16.9 ORB%

    2015 - M Turner: 11.8 TRB / 40 min, 16.7 TRB%, 7.2 ORB%

    2011 - T Thompson: 10.2 TRB / 40 min, 13.8 TRB%, 14.0 ORB%

    2010 - D James: 13.6 TRB / 40 min, 17.6 TRB%

    2007 - K Durant: 12.4 TRB / 40 min, 16.5 TRB%

    2006 - L Aldridge: 10.9 TRB / 40 min, 15.5 TBB%

  5. Yes that is exactly the question. In my case, my 16 yr old son is immunocompromised and was actually able to get the vaccine yesterday up in Temple. I was more wondering about what I would do if he was a year younger and not able to get the vaccine.

  6. Don't forget that Golden State has Minnesota's 2021 draft pick (top-3 protected).  While Minnesota is currently in the bottom 3, anything can happen.

It is easily possible that Golden State could wind up with the #4 pick in this class.  That means they could be adding a Jalen Suggs, Jonathan Kuminga, Evan Mobley, Cade Cunningham or Jalen Green to the mix.  Plus they will have their own pick which will probably be in the 15-20 range.  I have seen our own Greg Brown projected to them on one board.

Let's assume for this discussion that they get Evan Mobley and Greg Brown.  For next year that gives them:

    PG - Steph Curry - 33

    SG - Klay Thompson - 31

    SF - Andrew Wiggins - 26

    PF - Draymond Green - 31

    C - Andrew Wiseman - 20

    Bench

PF - Evan Mobley - 19 - Elite rebounder and defender would get decent minutes

SF - Greg Brown - 19 - Versatile scorer, elite rebounder, upside

SG - Kelly Oubre - 26 - Will go from 28 to more like 18 mpg

    PF - Eric Paschall - 25 - meh

    SG - Damion Lee - 29 - meh

Plus we will see how Jordan Poole and Nico Mannion develop. Maybe they start getting minutes.

  7. I think there is a reasonable chance that Kyrie's recent actions were part of the strategy to get Harden.  If he were healthy and playing well, it is possible he would have been part of Houston's demands.  Or involved in the 3-4 team trade in some way.  I don't think it is LIKELY this happened, but it is possible.

  8. Anybody on here doing run at Hyatt Globalist status? Normally need 60 nights but only 30 right now. Hyatt Credit card gives you 5 (or 10 if you signed up last year). You get 2 nights for a very $5K on the card, and an extra free class 4 night after $15K spend, so that is up to 16 nights. Stays through February earn 2 nights each and points get a 25% refund. So in all I only need 7 nights at 5K per night = 35K points or 26,500 after refund.

That gets you Hyatt Globalist status through Feb 2023, which is probably the best elite hotel status you can get. Plus when you get Globalist status you get ANOTHER class 4 night.

BTW the Hyatt card gives you 50K points itself, so net the challenge gives you 23,500 points, 2 free class 4 stays and Globalist status. Not bad.

  9. That is actually the perfect outcome. Everybody gets playing time, nobody got hurt and Shaka gets to have plenty to yell about given way we finished.

I don’t think you want a 40 point win in conference. Too easy for the players to keep celebrating into the next game.

  10. Just here to lol at the DPOY being a “role player”. Defense is half the game. If you are the best player in the world at defense you aren’t a role player. Would anyone say that the NBA scoring champion is a role player just because they don’t play defense? Dumb.

To that end, Tyson Chandler was fantastic in the Mavs title. I was shocked when they didn’t keep him. And guess what they sucked after that.

You may be stunned to learn that even Amarillo and Lubbock have been on top of this and giving well organized vaccines in droves at civic centers, with online appointment scheduling, and extremely efficient execution.   We Austin slags are fucked, but we're the assholes who put these people in charge.

My in-laws drove all the way from Abilene to Amarillo to get the shot.  Saw that they had 800 available at a mass vaccine event and signed up at the first chance. They were ~100 in line and were vaccinated by mid-morning.

Given the scarcity, it pays to have a little hustle.  Effort seems to be rewarded in this case.

  12. Yeah, I thought about using the per 100 possessions numbers.  Unfortunately they don't really have those stats till ~10 years ago.  Here is how we stack up to 2011.

2021:  Coleman (SR), Ramey (JR), Jones (JR) - Updated, Currently 10-1 and #4 in the country

    24.3 pts, 6.0 ast, 6.5 reb, 3.8 TO, 111.8 ORtg, 95.0 DRtg

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    2011:  C. Joseph (FR), J. Brown (SO), D. Balbay (SO) - Round of 32

    20.1 pts, 6.0 ast, 6.9 reb, 3.6 TO, 113.4 ORtg, 93.8 DRtg
