  1. The real way to fix the dunk contest is to fill it with actual stars. Imagine how much more exciting it would be if Westbrook, LeBron, Embiid, Giannis, DeRozan and KAT were in the dunk contest. Even if the dunks were not quite as great, seeing these guys compete would be great. That is what it was like with MJ.

LeBron is the guard version of Shaquille O’Neal. Freakish size and athleticism that can’t be matched at his position.

Like Oneal they are not as skilled as others, but the high level of skill combined with the unequaled size and athleticism gets them on the all time lists.

Thread should have ended when the first person posted “MJ”

This take is not good.  LeBron is way more skilled than Shaq, and you also are underrating Shaq's skill.  He had some of the best footwork of any player ever.

  3. I live in Leander about 2 miles from where the OP cat was seen. We have a couple of acres. My wife found what was left of a small deer that had been dragged about 100 feet at the back of our property. We always assumed it was a large cat. They have reported sightings of mountain lions out here for years.

  4. Disagree. It is always better to make the tourney. Upsets happen and there is always hope until you lose. It makes the opening week so much more fun. This team could easily win a 10 vs 6 or 11 vs 5 matchup. We already have wins vs the #8, #9, and #10 rated teams (Massey ratings).

But you are right, it is not fun basketball to watch. I love Texas basketball and can hardly drag myself to a game.

  5. Obviously we have the potential to be a top 10 program. We recruit like one already.

Barnes set the bar high as far as results go. No doubt. But he was fired for a reason. The last 3-4 years were no fun at all and there is no reason to believe he would have ever gotten back to the peak that he established.

  6. RE: Bitterwhiteguy - Solid rant.

For the most part, I agree that first 4 years of Shaka is about equal to last 4 years of Barnes.  People are forgetting how terrible and frustrating we were the last few years of his tenure.  The Barnes we had at the end is not the Barnes at Tennessee now.

This team is frustrating because we are SO CLOSE to being good.  We are competitive in every single game.  Our losses are so winnable:

    • 10 pts to #2 Michigan State
    • 3 pts to #106 Radford (bad loss but close)
    • 1 pt to #59 VCU (another bad close loss)
    • 3 pts at #91 OSU (another bad close loss)
    • 6 pts at #22 Tech (painful close road loss to fringe elite team)
    • 2 pts at #8 KU (painful close road loss to elite team)
    • 4 pts at #26 TCU (painful close road loss to likely tourney team)

And then we go out and beat teams like #9 UNC, #14 Purdue, #20 K-State (road), #21 OU sometimes in dominating fashion.  We also are recruiting extremely well.

My displeasure is also compounded by the fact that a lot of our mistakes seem easily fixable.  We play STUPID.  We also don't play to our strengths.  I honestly feel like I could do a better job, which is a crazy statement for a guy being paid like Shaka.

  7. There are 100 ways to get better nutrition than the McDouble for cheaper.  For example, from HEB I can get:

    • 3 eggs (hardboiled)  = 234 cal, 18 g protein, 1.5 g carbs, 15 g fat = $0.45
    • 8 oz milk = 148 cal, 8 g protein, 12 g carbs, 8 g fat = $0.14
    • 2 slices whole wheat toast = 120 cal, 6 g protein, 22 g carbs, 2 g fat = $0.17
    • -----------------------------------------------------
    • Total = 502 cal, 36 g protein, 36 g carbs, 25 g fat = $0.76
