* Texas Observer - I've mentioned them anytime someone posts their articles. One of the only progressive, long-form, investigative journalism magazines focused solely on Texas. They accept donations starting at $5/month and their print magazine is a steal of a subscription. They also accept larger donations. If for no other reason, supporting the Observer to get the magazine is a great way to stay abreast of unheard of and unreported travesties in Texas (and in some case hope).
they've also been annoying tf out of fb maga by sharing pictures and post after post of beautiful images of the GULF OF MEXICO 🇲🇽 ❤️ 😄

well, i laughed a lot 😄
agree that Murphy was the funniest...dude still absolutely has it 😆
Meryl cracked me up 😂
so Mulaney's crack about only 'two hosts committed murder'...i honestly thought he meant OJ and...Alec Baldwin, who was in the audience and i was like
but i guess he meant Robert Blake lol. but that still seems like too close and too soon with Baldwin right there, heh.
as far as singing at their ages...Simon > McCartney. iswis 😐
it was fun checking the audience, kudos to Ryan Reynolds laughing at himself. kind of surprised Timberlake didn't make a showing.
i enjoyed it. pretty remarkable it's been around 50 years.

Quote"It is a great shock for me to learn that my first book, ‘Freckleface Strawberry,’ has been banned by the Trump Administration from schools run by the Department of Defense,” Moore wrote. “‘Freckleface Strawberry’ is a semi-autobiographical story about a seven year old girl who dislikes her freckles but eventually learns to live with them when she realizes that she is different ‘just like everybody else.’ It is a book I wrote for my children and for other kids to remind them that we all struggle, but are united by our humanity and our community.”
can't have little girls learning to accept themselves and gaining self-esteem.-

last night was pretty fascinating, seeing how different S1E1 was from today.
multiple musical guests, the host (Carlin) in no skits, just intermittent stand up sets. most skits were less than a minute, but the cast had memorized lines - no visible line reading.
honestly nothing very funny...Chase got a couple of chuckles from WU, but the Muppet sketch was the best skit.

La Marseillaise is fucking metal...
Against us the bloody flag of tyranny is raised; the bloody flag is raised.
Do you hear, in the countryside, the roar of those ferocious soldiers?
They’re coming right into your arms to cut the throats of your sons, your comrades!
To arms, citizens!
Form your battalions
Let’s march, let’s march
That their impure blood
Should water our fields!
fuck yeah! lol

as someone who spent 30 years in the public sector in high pressure, high stress, and high visibility positions, in executive and political agencies...my heart seriously breaks for these people. not only losing their careers and incomes and ability to provide for their families but also being demonized and laughed at by the musky magats.
i cannot even imagine how awful these poor people feel. it's just evil.

amazing how quickly his ear healed. Less that 2 weeks and no bandage or evidence of the injury.
that reminds me...i'm not a subscriber but i ended up down a 'he's the antichrist!!' rabbithole this past week. interesting reading, particularly coming from devout christians basically on the opposite side of the charlatans we see so much of.
anyway, i guess there's something in Revelations about him sustaining a head wound that is miraculously healed and the world is amazed and it adds to his mystique? it actually did give me pause, but i was pretty high lol 😜

They were stupefied at one of the most insane and counter-productive speeches ever delivered by an American elected leader overseas. Despite what Americans may believe, Europeans are actually rather less alarmist about America and more inclined to think we will ultimately be normal and it is shocking to see a representative of the superpower behave like Viktor Orban because deep down they still think we are a serious country.
The speech wasn’t for them, it was entirely performance art for the base back home. MSC is always partly a showcase for Americans to do that— but the genius of Trump is his ability to make all the implicit scuzzines of politics extremely explicit.
i honestly chuckled that Vance reading a prepared speech scolding Europe for not placating their own right-wing fanatics more is seen as a paragon of intellect and ability by our own Ignatius J Reilly. whoo-eey 😆
