  1. unclear, but i know several others that got one pretty easily. honestly it could have just been financial, i.e., milking her insurance for all sorts of unnecessary things? who knows...bottom line, she felt very minimized and unheard by her doctor.
  2. jfc those last two... thread title checks the fuck out 😫
  3. hell, i am a suburban white woman, and i hate suburban white women.
  4. i've talked before about how my college-age niece had to basically fight her 'doctor' (north Texas) to get an iud, he kept coming up with excuses, tests, etc. for NINE MONTHS before she finally told him if he wouldn't do it she'd go to another doctor. serious bullshit! so now...she's planning a hysterectomy when she ages out of it. for all the reasons. i don't know how practical that is, i doubt you can get one on demand (especially in a few years, the direction we're headed 😐), and there's a possibility she'll feel differently once she hits 30. but right now... she thinks we're all fucked and she wants no part of it πŸ˜•
  5. ill give you posrep for most of that bc i do think you're sincere. but like others have said... the bolded is weak and a copout. i'd also suggest that if you think nazi comparisons are too far (i don't), ok... sticking with WWII analogies, i've actually been thinking the coming immigrant 'round ups' are going to be more like US Japanese. maybe that's not as much of a stretch for you, since, you know, we've actually done that ourselves in fairly recent history.
  6. oh leave her alone, she's venting just like i did in a place specifically created for that
  7. i've thought about it and i am okay with this
  8. man..he should be defensive. he's done a damn good job, likely one of the best in my lifetime, he literally saved this country by prying it from the dirty grasp of a destructive evil chaos agent and his cartoon character minions, he restored/repaired America's reputation around the world, not to mention helped get us through the pandemic and the aftermath. i'm not saying he shouldn't step down, im certainly not advocating he's our only chance to win this time and save our democracy. stepping down very well may be the right move, wtf do i know...i'm just reacting to the characterization of him, it makes me feel bad given he is the only one that could have saved us in 2020, and he did, and he's done it very, very well. i would be defensive too. man just fuck this gotdamn timeline. Joe's a good man and he's been a damn good president. hmpf.
  9. that is true. a lot of people can be happy anywhere (enviable), and even more people don't know there is anything different (i.e. haven't no comparison). i have no doubt there are plenty of people in all those places that would answer 'yes!' to an 'are you happy?' question. but this ranking isn't a happiness survey... it's quality of life, and they used some pretty basic and objective measurements. healthcare, debt, wages, reproductive choice access, anti-discrimination protections, etc. if you're in a position not to have to worry about any of that, or, like some here have expressed, you don't care that others have to worry, of course your QOL is going to be peachy. unfortunately, especially for a state as large as Texas, the vast majority of residents do have to worry about many of those things as part of their daily life. but also...yeah, even some of those people might say 'yeah, i'm happy' bc again, see first paragraph. this ranking is based on objectively defined criteria and how many citizens of each state are impacted by them.
  10. i keep getting texts with obvious democratic pollster questions - 'are you still voting for Joe Biden?', 'do you still support Joe Biden as the democratic nominee?', 'would you support another democratic nominee?' stuff like that. the thing is...they all have a link to click to respond. and guess what...i will never click a link i receive from an anonymous unknown number. assuming those are legit pollsters, they are likely missing a whole lot of educated, tech savvy respondents in these polls.
  11. that was my church in Austin. boo! πŸ‘Ž
  12. Duke got his second parvo and first lepto vax this morning and they seriously knocked him on his ass 😟 turned into a whimpering mess, i couldn't even touch his haunch where he got the shot or hold him, he yelped πŸ’” no allergic reaction but obviously a lot of pain, i had to run back up to the vet to get some pain med for him. he wouldn't eat and slept about 8 hours... then woke up this evening back to normal and gnawing on everything including me πŸ˜„ he's up to 4.3 lbs 😁 my friend hadn't seen him since the day i got him, about 2 1/2 weeks... she'd crocheted him a sweater but it was already too small πŸ˜† so we're using it as a toy! 20240714_201015.mp4 i freaking love his little overbite lol πŸ₯°
  13. how in the hell does that even happen
  14. #Project2025
  15. sure...most all of my friends are educated smartasses who appreciate good snark. i mean it's not for everybody, i know some people irl that are much more sensitive (mostly older) and i do dial it back if we're around them...but in general yeah, we enjoy it. and it's why this site is my favorite.
  16. i mean Obama made a point of saying he purposely tried to surround himself with people smarter than him. and he was a smart motherfucker. so...yeah.
