  1. At least if UGA wins and the rest hold serve there won’t be any rematches in the playoff. Most other combinations involve at least 1 rematch.
  2. It depends on your current boosters and their desire to win. We won in 2005 and almost again in 09 because of a couple guys who wanted to see another one before they were gone. A long drought can have that effect once you realize you have more than you can ever spend and not so many years left, look at UGA. They are riding high on the bottle on their way to possibly their first MNC in over 40 years. Someone has to step in and take the reins and that goes for everyone. NIL may/should change that as smaller boosters start having the ability to contribute in recruiting. But we are still in the early stages so the large boosters and their appetite for winning still matters and separates the contenders from everyone else. Currently we are firmly in the everyone else club.
  3. It would be funny to see aggy melt if jimbo left, but I personally like him right where he’s at. He’s a pain in the ass to recruit against but him at LSU would be as bad/worse and aggy might just luck into a really good hire
  4. He was a way better receiver than QB in HS, Garrett Wilson got the double team that would leave Card 1 on 1 and he was a reliable pass catcher who excelled in the open field. He will transfer before moving to WR, but him and Worthy catching passes from Ewers next year would be something to see.
  5. Better yet, he takes Ogres LSU jacket and cap, gets on the team bus and heads off to his new job. There is no doubt I do (have one of the best jobs in America)," Fisher told me Tuesday. "This is a tremendous place. You're exactly right," Fisher said. "I'm staying right here at Florida State.” He’s said similar before, but this time the hillbilly might actually stay. He has more money than he could possibly spend on above ground pool renovations, and while they won’t match aggys dumbass contract, LSU would certainly offer him plenty of money. They are paying Ogre >9M as it is. And he probably wins another MNC at LSU while he probably won’t at aggy.
  6. If 7WS can live up to his nickname the next few years and for cause doesn’t emerge, he will linger. If next year goes down like this year, he won’t be here in 2023. this might be our (at least mine) nightmare come to life. Patterson probably makes this a better team, keeps 7WS around longer, then when it’s time to hit eject we end up promoting Patterson. Seems like something stupid we would do, so probably happens. Meanwhile…. We will sit back and watch musical chairs where Riley, Dabo, Rhule, and Urban all get money-whipped to new gigs that can barely afford their 10-15M salaries, but we’re good because we got Patterson on the cheap for $6M. All those guys are going to show us they were attainable for enough money.
  7. It’s also a deceiving 7th at that, we are 13th in composite average with 22 signees, the 10 teams directly behind us average around 16 signees so far. We are also going to lose a few current and best guess right now is we finish somewhere around 15
  8. For the last 10 years we have let coaches stick around long past when it was clear they weren’t getting it done. So you’re suggesting we should…. Keep a guy around for consistency and that’s doing something different? How about we do something different and fire the guy who has lost the team, 5 games in a row, and to Kansas. How about we stop trying to hire the next great coordinator and thinking that somehow translates to being a good HC? We need someone to come in and clean house, that’s for sure. Recruiting is not where it needs to be and that’s going to continue downhill with 7WS. There is no shortage of coaches who would take the job after the last guy got fired in year one, guys who know they are fucking good at their jobs and can turn the program around. Recruiting 2 more classes the way things are currently headed will not have the outcome you are thinking. Stars do indeed matter, it’s very well documented at this point that the teams that win are the ones that recruit top >10 classes every year for a minimum of 3-4 cycles. The ports change that a little but it won’t be by much. A new coach can come in and start winning and that will improve recruiting. Herman sold the future and recruiting picked up, his resume was short enough no one really knew what would happen. But he didn’t develop the guys and didn’t win enough, recruiting fell off and he got canned. Charlie went scorched earth and kicked a bunch of people out, but he couldn’t win and his already shaky recruiting took a turn, he lost to Kansas and got canned. There’s outliers like Dabo, e don’t start off winning, and his recruiting wasn’t great, but he also had no resume people could look back at and know how things were going to turn out. But he started winning and recruiting took off as a result. 7WS has a resume long enough to reasonably know what we can expect. He’s not winning and his recruiting is not that great, there’s not much for him to sell. Rosters turn over every 3-5 years constantly so a “complete rebuild” should show signs of life by the second incoming class. Our best bet for a fast turnaround would be an Urban/Dabo or an unknown like Traylor/McGuire but there’s still a lot of coaches out there in the middle who would do better at winning and recruiting than 7WS.
  9. It would be great to offer Dabo 20M/yr or go back to Urban with that offer plus his own football AD or whatever he wants. Money talks, we should give it a try. He’s not a good HC and he’s not recruiting well enough to let him Blake around for 2 or 3 years to stack talent. At this point it him loose and move on. If not the nuclear money option then go get Traylor or poach McGuire before his contract ink dries. Or Freshwater, Aranda, or see if Rhule wants back in college. Something, anything but this shit. Dude has lost the team, he doesn’t have the spine or the chops to be a good HC.
  10. Can do, he lives on the corner.
  11. Herman is very immature and showed it repeatedly on and off the field. Grills, bats, sledgehammer, fighting radio people, fake trying to fight other coaches, mocking opposing player, double birds….. the guy was an embarrassment of his own making that we endured for 4 too many years. And that’s just the public stuff.
  12. I didn’t say he recruited good, I said he could recruit better than he could win. He sucked balls at winning,.
  13. You’re correct. Building a bag game off a couple 80 year old billionaires can be very effective and can get up and running fast if they really want to see another championship before they die, but it isn’t very sustainable. Look at the top of the game and you will find organized systems with someone running point. Mack knew which trees to shake, just wasn’t sustainable, Charlie was a dunce, and Tom was an asshole.
  14. I have watched them a lot and I see great game-planning and some dominant offensive line play this season. Now I just want to visit and see what it’s like.” Ehh:::
  15. Give the 3 guys jobs as Uber drivers and move their 18 wives out to bee cave by the LDS church. I don’t see any problem there.
  16. Which of the last 2 dumbfuck would you like to have kept for their contract? Charlie could recruit better than he could win, fuckface could win better than he could recruit. And neither were actually good at their forte. if you combined the two and had Charlie recruiting with Tom’s record there’s something to sell and he could have spent 5 years here and left the program better off for his replacement. Likewise, in Toms recruiting hadn’t fallen off a cliff and he went 8-5 again he would probably finish out his contract and left the program better off for his replacement. Charlie losing was just going to lead to worse recruiting, and fuckfaces train wreck in recruiting was going to lead to more losises, so pulling the rip cord in both cases was the right decision. Not hiring either would have been even better but that’s a dead horse.
  17. Sooo…. “Coach was diddling kids in the showers, so let’s put cameras in there so we can keep an eye on things”. Good plan dumbasses. at best they are all a bunch of idiots up there.
  18. Being a great coordination does not correlate to being a great HC, the jobs are completely different. Peope should go look up the top coaches in the current era, Saban, Meyer, Swinney and their backgrounds. Saban was mostly a DB coach for some pretty mediocre teams. Meyer likewise was mostly a WR coach for some pretty meh teams, or at least during mediocre periods of some great teams. Dabo was a WR coach and only at two places, At Bama he just missed the MNC party coming in as a GA under the latter Stalling years and he was there for the Dubose desert wandering. Then he went to Clemson under Tommy Bowden until they canned him mid season and elevated Dabo. But all 3 are badass head coaches. So what’s the primary job of a HC? Some say recruiting, and that’s part of it. But really the #1 job is evaluating talent and hiring them as assistants. Hiring guys that can work with you, who can recruit and who can coach. That’s the job. Sure even Saban picks up a dog from time to time (BoB come to mind) but he’s also replacing 4-7 assistants every year because they are getting elevated elsewhere or more importantly he cuts them loose if they suck. Swinney on the other end has pieced together a good staff that has very little turnover. Strong and fuckface sucked in part because they brought their G5 staffs with them and weren’t mentally capable of cutting the dead weight before or after they showed their asses around UT. Neither were particularly good at building a staff. 8 months ago it looked like Sark was doing a better than average job of staff building, though it was far from great. The end of this season and what he does with his staff going forward will tell us what we need to know as long as we are willing to pay attention. I personally don’t think the HC also being a coordinator is a recipe for success, not at the highest levels anyways. Brent Venables has proven to be a great DC, and some of the traits that make him a great DC would probably make him a terrible HC. Riley is a great OC and maybe he can be a great HC, but I don’t know if he can be both. It much more likely someone like a Traylor working a position for a mediocre coach somewhere has the chops to be the next great HC.
  19. Heh, he said WAC off
  20. I agree this should be high on the list, that loss was devastating for USC, they still have yet to recover
  21. For cause clause
  22. Bowlsby is such a dipshit. Repeatedly shows his ass by being such a butthurt little cuck. “Good luck with Vanderbilt”, “every conference has 3-4 bellcows”. Well, your conferences TWO bellcows are leaving, you’re part of the problem, and good luck with those “fine educational institutions” you are adding. UT/OU claiming you asked for a GOR extension in the face of networks declining to extend the current contracts is absurd and patently false, except it’s was Techs president who said it. I’m sure the tortilla throwers thought it would be a good idea to make up shit to cause a rift between the conference and its 2 bellcows to help force them to leave, just so Tech can get half the money and be more competitive as a G5. Or maybe their STD ladled brains misunderstood when Bowlsby said “ UT and OU are leaving but we are going to bring in a bunch of cougars in their place And the whole thing about his glide path to retirement, but now he will stay on board as long as the conference affiliates need him? Well Bob, that was part of the problem. what a dumbfuck. Whatever he gets paid is too much.
  23. I personally would let Urban get to third base, but that’s where I draw the line.
  24. It’s not all revisionist, Saban was on his way here until we fucked around and let Mack do his own thing for the final week of his tenure. Bama had an extension sitting on his desk while Saban stalled for time out on the recruiting trail. Saban had reasons for wanting to leave Bama at the time and get a fresh start, and UT had a prior decade of being one of the best programs in the nation, it wasn’t a complete rebuild. Mack waited him out refusing to step aside until it all came to a head on the real Black Friday. Saban said fuck it to our spineless admin, went back to shithole Alabama and signed his extension. Mack came back from killing himself on the recruiting trail, went to the team banquet, and stepped down the next day. So then we poked around and dropped down to plan F, we hired a coordinator who won an MNC with the most talented team in the country built by the second best football coach of this era. He then parlayed that success into a few good years at a G5 program on the back of a QB who was like having a VY cheat code at that level. He then managed to turn that into the job at UT. It was hard to get excited about anyone after they way the Saban thing went down and the way we mishandled Mack. But Charlie got his shot and was in way over his head, and he proceeded to shit himself. So when we decided to move on from Charlie and zeroed in on a coordinator who won an MNC with the most talented team in the country built by the second best football coach of this era, who parlayed that success into a few good years at a G5 program on the back of a QB who was like having a VY cheat code at that level….. guess what? There were some people who have seen this movie before and are yelling at the screen not to open the door to the basement where the psychopath is lurking with a chainsaw. Sure, no one knows for certain what will happen until after the fact, but some people have enough foresight to make good educated guesses. The sun hasn’t set yet today, though I’m pretty certain it will, I know a few aggies and maybe they won’t be weirdos but they almost certainly will aggy all over themselves next time I see them, and I have a few OU relatives and I’m damn sure they still suck.
