  1. Careful, if you stand up too fast all the sand will fall out of your pussy. He started playing at UT only 4 years after Julius Whittier was allowed on the team. This is not a defense of Earl, it's just a reminder that the 60+ people lived through a different era, particularly in the south. Old people say stupid shit all the time because at some point people stop evolving and settle into the norms which cultivated their identity When he grew up racism was overt and derogatory, a lot of what we currently consider racism wouldn't have registered 50 years ago. I don't believe Earl having the opinion that black football players are more athletic than white football players makes him racist. The PC pendulum has swung so far in the other direction that all the tiptoeing around broken glass appears disingenuous. Its a dumb statement because there are plenty of very good white QBs, and it makes him sound dumb. CTE is also a hell of a drug. But you getting so ragey about it reminds me of the run of the mill racist who goes way overboard trying to prove they aren't the racist they actually are.
  2. Akina is a better coach than any defensive coach we have, but it's easy to forget he had a pass defense ranking in the 90s-100s with 3 NFL starters and a Thorpe. Babers would be interesting as a secondary coach, he said yesterday or day before he would consult or coach or whatever, if someone reached out. And that he would be cheap.
  3. Look no further than injury reports. Bama and fOSU are close in recruiting over the past several years. This year injuries have crept up on Bama, they have 7 guys out for season and several out for shorter periods fOSU has escaped major injuries, LSU is doing pretty well also. We have one of the most beat up teams according to donbest, though Oregon and particularly USC are in worse shape.
  4. Job #1 for a head coach is do a good job hiring and managing your staff. Hire good coaches, hire good recruiters, bonus if they do both. Fire the ones who suck. Job #2 is to do a good job hiring. Because if you were good at job #1 you are pretty much always replacing guys who get lured away or you're cutting dead weight.
  5. I don't remember a World Series where home team lost every game
  6. Don't we have like 25ish freshman walk-ons?
  7. TCU was dead last in passing, actually still are. Running the ball was the only thing they could do until they played us. Klieman is a better coach than Herman with less talent. He has won 7 national championships in his last 8 seasons. They will beat us in the trenches, they have a running QB, and I sure wouldn't bet on this game because we should win off talent alone but Herman might be losing the team.
  8. He did. He went and got 3 guys who all got fired for going a combined 36-100 over the past 4 years. Obviously they know what his problems are and how to fix them.
  9. I think that was me on hornsfans. Aww look, Katy is fixing to ban me again.
  10. Ok. linemen, go get the QB. LBs, run support and light anyone the fuck up who gets near you. DBs, cover someone and try to get a pick. Basically keep it simple and just go do what you have all been doing for the past 10 or so years FUPM 1.7M. I'm sending in my resume. I couldn't be worse than what we have now.
  11. Don't forget at the cotton bowl the announcers actually said Grinch instructed his DBs to hold our receivers and make the officials call it. It's actually sound game theory, the officials won't throw flags every down and if you set the precedent then they will likely only call the most egregious fouls. And we have tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber coaching our team. Hey coaches, pull your head out of your ass so you can go fuck yourself.
  12. Go full fucking Groundhog Day and hire that coach from UNC who is doing ok and recruiting at a brisk clip. Have him bring a recruiting ace with him. I hate this.
  13. Ah, I got focused on Fedora plus, I apparently can't read. beaty is supposed to be a plus recruiter, I never even though of him as a possible coordinator, kinda thought an 8th WR coach or something. Saban has drawn the blueprint about how you go get good coaches with issues and give them another shot, and Urban copied that blueprint. Saban seems to prefer drinks and philanderers while Urban has fewer moral constraints. But there is no question it's a highly successful approach. Face it, recruiting, PR, clad handing doners, interviews, all of that is secondary. The PRIMARY job of the HC is to hire. Hire good/great assistants. Get guys who can recruit, get guys who can coach, and bonus for getting guys good at both. Then stay on top of them, cut loose underperformers and keep finding replacements because you will always have turnover at the top. The best go on to their own gigs and you fire the one not working. We have a HC who is working his business, pals with his employees. He is supposed to be running his business and he is not.
  14. No new news is good news I guess? Be nice if the bot came back, at least we would have updates no matter how mundane and know whether to celebrate or panic. Kind of feels like the aftermath of a too long nap when you're not sure what day it is and maybe you skipped over a few parallel time layers.
  15. Middle Tennessee OC for 3 years pass game coordinator, run game coordinator, OC at UF 1 year each OSU OC for 3 years
  16. I don't know but here's a quote and a window into why Herman meshes with Fedora. . Fedora’s 17 years as either a head coach or an offensive coordinator have led him to focus primarily on turnovers and explosive plays (running plays of at least 12 yards and pass completions of at least 16 yards). “Those two things for us, if we can win those two battles, the turnover battles and the explosive play battles, we’re usually going to be pretty successful,” Fedora said. Explosive plays is something Herman has been locked in on, and Orlanos squad has been pretty good at creating turnovers in his time here It seems obvious they both follow this same philosophy, where other might value TOP like jimbo, or bag of cash like Smart, or bags of dicks like Stoops. I expect a pretty decent shakeup at end of season as Mensa starts to crack under pressure. The distressing part is I also expect more hive mind with some combination of Fedora/Ash/Beaty to formally join the staff, and then we are proper fucked for another couple years This is of course assuming he can't pull a 4 win streak out to finish strong at 9-3. In that case there's a decent chance we make the CCG and little to nothing changes as Tom is vindicated in his mind, for another year.
  17. Yes, I forget his name. He punted Saturday. And dicker is a decent punter
  18. No way on Fedora. he was a meh OC at Uf under Zook, a very meh coordinator under gundy during mullet early years, and he was a fucking MEH HC
  19. True, we should have fired him a week before he "stepped down"
  20. KSU is going to be a big game, if we pull the upset we might just go 3-1 down the stretch. Lose that one and the wheels have officially come off and 0-4 is most likely.
  21. Dabo has more in common with Charlie strong than Herman. Dabo is very well liked by players and he's a great coach who understands staff management and fires poor performance Dabo gets an A for being likable, an A for staff management and an A as a HC Charlie was very well liked by his players but he sucked as a coach and staff management. Charlie gets an A for being likable, an F for staff management, and a D as a HC Herman... not the most likable guy, doesn't understand staff management, doesn't fire underperformance/incompetence. Herman gets a D for being a dick, an F for staff management, and maybe a C- as HC.
  22. There's another angle from behind KSU and I'm pretty damn sure the hard bounce and redirect is off the KSU guys knee. The speed and angle would make more sense also. Ive watched it so many times, I'm about 95% it hit the guys right knee coming forward, #56 or whatever who was blocking into sooner. OU getting fucked is so much sweeter, makes me feel better after yesterday.
  23. I don't see anything on his resume to imply he's even ok to good. He took charge of whisky defense for a couple years under fat fucking regard and regressed, followed bulimia to Arkansas and had a historically bad season there in his 1 year. he had 2 good years at fOSU as Co-DC with Luke Fickel. Fickel has by far the better resume and was more likely responsible for the success on defense. So in short, the defense couldn't really get much worse, but if Ash is the plan, we are still fucked. Actually, the position Mensa has put us in through staff mismanagement means we are fucked regardless what does/doesn't happen.
  24. Klieman makes 2.8M at KSU He has won 7 NCs in 8 years (1 as DBs, 2 as DC, 4 as HC). They are trending up and will probably end up 9-3 with a good shot at 10-2. i would imagine he would do quite well here with the talent at hand, the defense sure as fuck wouldn't be the worst in P5.
