Jeez. Missed it by about 250.

One would think this puts me in the mix for Championship Game tickets assuming we do get the 20,000 they mentioned in the email.

All depends on how many of that extra 7K get gobbled up by UT corporate sponsors, plus how many people 2,244 and higher requested tix for the NCG but not the Sugar Bowl. Wouldn’t think the latter group would be that huge but who knows…

I thought I saw here where someone in the 1700s got them.  Are you sure that you actually put in a request?

Yeah, definitely, and I got the fuck-you email. Wondering if requesting 4 instead of 2 is what did it?

    EDIT - I'm a dyslexic idiot; 1,864, not 1,684...

I finally read to the end of the email…

Expecting around 20,000 ticket allocation for the Championship Game. That’s a huge difference over 13,000. What’s up with that?

Wasn’t there similar shit around the 2005 Rose Bowl because since Pasadena residents get allotted some number of seats; it didn’t happen in 2009 because that wasn’t the actual Rose Bowl, it was played a week later. Maybe there’s the same bullshit because it’s still technically the Sugar Bowl game. Stripping that shit away should be a condition of being in the CPF rotation…

Not sure why, but to treat the idiotic hot take fairly-- it's obvious that the vast majority of Longhorn fans actually like having this game at the Cotton Bowl during the State Fair.  That's not the same as desperately clinging to goofy, antiquated activities for the sake of tradition.  It's that we genuinely like and prefer the game there.
Believe me there are numerous forces acting against the preservation of this neutral site classic, every single year.  The ONLY thing keeping it there, is the fact that the fan bases genuinely, sincerely like it.  That has been the common sentiment expressed on this thread, and every other Cotton Bowl/TX-OU thread in the long history of surly/shaggy/hornfans/austin360/etc. It stays there, because the vast majority of fans want it there.
Otherwise, it'd be super easy and convenient to change it to a home and home.

Move it away from the Cotton Bowl/fair and it's simply another conference game in a shitty NFL environment, and home and home would be even less special. I don't get why some people can't understand this.

Again with the word ‘some’; there’s only one dipshit advocating this, though to be fair he’s a mid-sized city’s worth of stupid…
