  1. Was more around the notion that a guy who has averaged 95 catches a year since 2017 (and that’s with one year of 66) is ‘always hurt’ than the value of the $18MM or the extension. Dick comment though; I’m mostly full of shit. I hope Nico has taken that next step in his 3rd year like so many WRs do, and that Tank completely recovers and shows the explosiveness he showed over the 11 games he played last year. Still, I think we have to keep in mind that our receiver room is a guy who hadn’t had 40 catches or 500 yards before last year; a guy who will be 32 in week 1, is known for his blocking and is 5 years removed from a 1,000 yard season; a guy still trying to come back from beating leukemia; and two guys who were prepping for their pro day this time last year. There is absolutely potential in this group, but given that we have a generational QB who apparently needs 2 weeks to get used to the pro game, I’d like to prioritize putting playmakers around him above everything and let DeMeco scheme around weaknesses on D. Shit, worse comes to worse he looks like he could suit up and give us 30 snaps a game….
  2. Not a bad deal for experienced depth; was hopeful Deculus could grow into that role but I doubt he makes it out of camp…
  3. Eh, wide receivers are a dime a dozen, right?
  4. As opposed to staying in LA with one year left? Post a list of all the 30+ year old non-QBs in NFL history who have held out of an $18MM deal…
  5. Did you watch the NFL last year? Compare Keenan Allen’s numbers to Nico; this would have been a hell of a one-year rental. He missed some time with injury in 2022; other than that he’s caught at least 95 passes every year since 2016. It didn’t work out, but a dude like this on a one-year deal would be huge for CJ’s development. This is real football, not your fucking fantasy team….
  6. It quit mattering years ago, and probably wouldn’t have mattered that night, but with 43 seconds left we were down by 5 and Syracuse was inbounding on the sideline, and their inbound guy took three lateral steps, which should have been our ball. tl;dr - that loss sucked but that year was fun as hell…
  7. That was an epic week of national tours; within an 8-day span you had that show, U2, and two consecutive nights of Pink Floyd. The 2nd of those Floyd shows is when I definitively answered the question “Is it possible to die from an overdose of LSD?” (shockingly, no!) The FEC was a shit venue for music and basketball, but for better or for worse it was what we had. Probably my worst experience there was paying $29 (a lot of fucking money for me back then) to see a Tyson fight on closed-circuit and being in the pisser when he knocked out Michael Spinx in the first 35 seconds or some such shit…
  8. Sure feels like things are getting lined up for some kind of trade; we’ll see….
  9. Too lazy to do the math but the net/net of the Deshaun/Will A/Vikings deals keeps looking better. If that fucking aggy guard can get his shit together this year it looks even better….
  10. Kid just hasn’t given them any reason at all to waste any more time in the minors. He’s ready…
  11. Better to have weed and not need it than to need weed and not have it..
  12. Yeah I’m not too worried; there are still rotational pieces left in FA, plus the draft will shake loose a few veterans; there’s also June 1st cuts and the trade market. Agree with the above that this doesn’t mandate that we take an DT in Round 1. I’d say QB and DE are off the table because of existing talent on the roster, LB, S, RB, and TE because of a combo of positional value and the talent in this particular draft. That leaves WR, OL, DT, and CB - I’m good with BPA from that group, and there’s some good options there. This is a crazy-deep WR group… EDIT - No way in hell we were going $17/year for AA. Good for him, and good for us. I like where we are right now, time to move on to the draft…
  13. Let that be a fucking lesson… Cutting Jimmie Ward would save $3.8MM this year so there’s a little more available if you want to upgrade at more of a center fielder type than a close-to-the line guy. I’m not as down on Pitre as a lot of people, I think if you can put him in a hybrid LB/safety role he can be a playmaker. Cutting Robert Woods adds $5.5MM to that total, so if you want to upgrade Ward there’s $9.3MM available on top of the $21.55 listed above. If you cut Woods you probably want to draft a WR in the first three rounds, which I’d like to do regardless….
  14. Everything worked fine for me with Command Line….
  15. This seems like a good option to me, provided a WR/DB they really like doesn’t unexpectedly fall to 23. I really like the way Sainristil plays, would be a good option for late 2nd round…
  16. Yeah I would expect at least one in the draft to push for Woods’ roster spot, if nothing else to free up $5MM for Nico’s extension…
  17. He has the ability now to sign another FA deal still in his prime with a salary cap that’s God knows how much higher than today. Texans manage to keep a big salary completely within CJ’s rookie deal. I love this shit….
  18. I’ll bet you any amount of money you want to wager that the next WR you pick in the first round won’t put up almost 6,000 yards their first four seasons in the league…. My dad is younger than Bo Nix…
  19. So $5.2-$6.0MM and a 7th rounder for a one-year deal; I can live with that. Pick up a RB in the draft and hope that Dameon Pierce is more productive in Year 2 in the system, and that’s a solid RB core. Still would like to sign/draft a potential starter at G or C….
  20. Didn’t we do this shit last year? Lots of talent still out there, and as much as I wanted Saquon I wouldn’t have gone as high as Philly did for him…
  21. Hopefully more depth/rotation but we’ll see. All of the smoke seems to be around us and Wilkins, in which case it seems likely Greenard is gone and we address the other DE slot in the draft. I do like the idea of putting a badass next to Anderson rather than across from him but we’ll see very soon..
