  1. I bought one for my daughter who is at UT right now. She gave me one for Christmas. 4 stars would recommend!
  2. I don't know, wouldn't there be some entertainment value in them doing well without the idiot Mayfield?
  3. Aren't the different games priced differently? I'm going to bet that the face value on Alabama tickets will make an average with other seasons invalid. Not all seasons are created equally.
  4. I suppose that's what I am. I have rising hope every year and have seen a lot of ball, both good and bad. Been very happy and very disappointed walking out of DKR. I don't golf and I only attend other sporting events sporadicly (I do love attending a Texas volleyball game). So between flying down to the game, renting a car and doing a night or two in a hotel plus tickets, I spend an irrational amount of time and expense to see Texas play football. Fortunately I married a girl that enjoys it as well, and has just accepted that this is the way it is. From my perspective though, why would you sell your tickets? Go to a movie? Play golf? Going to a football game is a better time, if for any reason it's not then there are lots of ways to change up how to go about it. Don't get me wrong, I love going to a big game, but I'm interested in how they play no matter the opponent.
  5. Lot's of good memories, I grew up and my kids grew up going to section 6. (when we started it was 6U).
  6. Perhaps he could make a "donation" to his High School and "graduate" early.
  7. Moved up there 3 seasons ago after 48 seasons in Sec 6. It works for us, most of our old tailgating friends have moved or don't do it anymore. The food up there is better than 99% of the tailgates I've been to. Wife and daughters like it and are more likely want to go to the games. Pros- Seats are comfy, the food is great, and you spend zero time waiting in line and everything is prepaid so you just grab what you want (kids love it). Lots of tables, lots of TV screens or you can just take your food or drink back to your seat. Shrimp and carving stations are great, but they have wings and the best hot dogs in the stadium. I like being able to get an iced tea instead of a coke or water. Full bar if your interested, but you do have to pay for alcohol. You can't hear the audio from the jumbotron, (I see that as a plus, YMMV) they pipe in Craig Way from the LHRN. You have no less than 2 screens visible from any seat, one of them is a repeat of the feed of the jumbotron. View from row 1 is not much different than I had from Sec 6. The women in my family like the climate control and the clean restrooms with no wait, enough to have commented on how nice they are. (whatever... watch football). A higher percentage of people are serious about watching the game as compared to Sec 6. Cons- It's pricy. There are 5 rows of seats and there is a good reason Row 5 is the cheapest (it probably shouldn't even be there) the upper deck just encroaches too much into the view. . I'm in row 1 with the only downside being you lose some the benefit of HVAC as soon as they open the windows (again, whatever... watch football) but if your wife doesn't want to be in the elements get something in row 2-4. They used to have earlier games on the screens up top before our K/O's but this year they mostly had a radio feed and loop of UT related stuff on the screens, perhaps that was due to the string of 11:00 kicks. Getting out after the game could probably be better, but it's not significantly different than some other parts of the stadium.
  8. I think you could be on to something, our version of the "Curse of the Bambino" but more of a "Curse of the Bimbo"?
  9. I don't disagree, but sadly even this trash army is killing a lot of people.
  10. Do they still have the Chinese center, Confucius Institutes or whatever they are now being called?
  11. So if I fly out to Birmingham to see a game, is it like Texas H.S. playoffs where you can stay and watch as many games as you want? I can't find any reference on the USFL or ticket sales sites. I might be willing to hop out there for a few games.
  12. How does that relate to you being uninformed. You said... You were incorrect, and are now trying to deflect. There are mistakes going back generations, those mistakes don't make current ones any less egregious.
  13. Biden- The United States won’t intervene militarily against Russia if it invades Ukraine.webloc Don't know this site, it's just the first one that popped up. Yes, we told the world we would not intervene. I'm sure that wasn't the only green light in Putin's calculation, but you can bet he was happy to have it.
  14. The best thing you pointed out, and is often missed, was that we are not privy to the intel. Without that we all just guessing. One thing we could assume that seems to be missed in this particular conversation is that establishing a true No-Fly would involve some air to air combat with the Russian air force. That could easily spiral out of control, so it's a big risk and big commitment. I respectfully disagree with you as to "our voice" in this matter. Sometimes being a bit more unpredictable is advantageous. Timing and context are of course key. But announcing you will not intervene three weeks ago removes you from the equation. Since then our "voice" has been meaningless.
  15. 1. Putin is ex-KGB and still believes in the leftist ideologies he was raised with. For lack of better evidence it appears he may really believe what he espouses about "former Russian lands". 2. There are strategic and tactical advantages to controlling Ukraine. 3. NATO while a bit of a screwed up entity, has been a very effective wall against Russian/Soviet expansion. The idea that NATO would expand is likely viewed by Putin as being like a boa constrictor. Once a nation goes over to NATO it gains those protections and is unlikely to be cowed by Russian threats or intimidation. They seriously don't like you laughing at their threats. 4. As others have mentioned, with our announcement a few weeks back that we would not directly intervene, he calculated (poorly) that it would take about 3 days to 1 week to control all of Ukraine and execute the Ukrainian government officials. Perhaps thinking that it would be over so quickly that sanctions would seem futile and silly. 5. He has amassed an incredible personal fortune (some estimate many billions of dollars) mostly by defrauding the government and the people of Russia. If he is ever removed from power he is likely a dead man, so he has a lot of motivation to stay on top. These are the main things framing my outlook on the war. My impression is, he thought Ukraine to NATO was intolerable and that he would achieve many goals at once at minimal cost. No plan survives first contact with the enemy, so from this point forward anything can happen. As for the article, as soon as a writer picks up the broad brush and starts blaming it all on the Left or all on the Right, I'm out. I was flying over Siberia two weeks ago, anybody that tells you the Texas panhandle is "more of nothing than anyplace on earth" hasn't seen Siberia.
  16. Every tyrant has had fanboys (and girls). Probably all the way back beyond Santa Anna or Napoleon.
  17. No, Armybrat and I both heard it from Wyatt's dad.
  18. Ehhh. no. If he had the same W/L record at Baylor, he would be bullet-proof in McLennan County no matter his race. They will circle the wagons around Baylor at all costs. If you think the defense of Kyiv is impressive, just try to assail Baylor in McLennan county. It's been what 5-6 years and they still think the whole thing is an ESPN jihad against them because "we was winning'". It out aggys the aggys and will make you sick at your stomach that we have these mouth breathers in the state. No reason to bring race into it, although some folks just can't get past bringing it into every thought.
  19. I had the privilege of sitting next to Eddie Robinson on a flight from DFW to SHV back about 1988. He was a true gentleman and didn't mind talking with me about everything football. From micro to macro he indulged me with his wonderful insight. From that day I always pulled for Grambling, but no more. I will remain an Eddie Robinson fan for the rest of my days, but I imagine he's doing about 8000 RPM in his grave about now.
  20. Ahhh Lucas electrical systems. Or Lucas -Prince of Darkness.
  21. By the time I got there I was told that a "C" permit isn't a permit it's a hunting license.
