  1. Best of luck Sam, I'll be pulling for your success in the NFL and beyond. Your consistent 100% efforts made us all proud.
  2. I was leaning toward not taking my season tickets this year if Herman was retained. Now, I'm in. Let's see what he's got. Very interested in what he does with his defensive coaching and O line hires
  3. The untimely death of a young man or woman has always hurt me and brought back painful memories. Six weeks after my high school class graduated, we were back together for the funeral of one of our most loved classmates. He was going to go to TCU on a football scholarship. The story we were told was that he was knifed thought the aorta by a guy on drugs. The overwhelming senselessness of the loss and waste of it has never left me. I miss him, and hate that he didn't get the chance to live a full life. I feel the same way for this young man. Rest in peace Ty and Tim.
  4. And may 2021 bring us better times on and off the field!
  5. He'll have to eat his lunch all by himself. (after he goes undrafted)
  6. Ah Texas Stadium. I can almost smell the spray on asbestos!
  7. THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY? KEEPING TOM HERMAN!
  8. Is that really the improvement we are all looking for?
  9. I'm going to have a really hard time getting fired up for next year. I trust CDC, and he must view this as the best option at the moment, but it sure as hell won't make it easy to spend the money for my season tickets.
  10. I don't see how we could keep Tom at this point. He has pretty clearly lost the confidence of recruits, alumni, admin, etc. So, where to from here. For me, I'm hoping we have worn out the "up and comer" path with Charlie and Tom. Yes, that path CAN work but the coach has to be exceptionally savvy and choose his staff wisely. Something our hires have shown very clearly they didn't grasp. I would like to see us get someone who has proven they can win at multiple stops, some of them large programs. I suppose there are others but Sark , and Freeze jump out at me. Sarks problems scare me a lot more than Freeze's. At this point I would be behind a Freeze hire.
  11. Obviously true, but you asked "who gives a shit?" I think a lot of folks do. I know I do. This is a frustrating situation right now, but he has to operate with the cards he's been dealt. His other hires are solid, I wouldn't have expected such hires from Patterson or even DeLoss. Who is the best coach in the history of the University? Eddie Reese.
  12. I do. Football is the bell cow, but if you haven't been to the Texas relays or a swim meet you are missing out on some good times.
  13. While things are in a precarious position with football, I've been impressed with CDC. I would have preferred just about anyone to the idiot Patterson, but that's water under the bridge. He has made a couple of impressive hires and seems to have figured out before he even got here that he wouldn't accept being a "Co-director" with the idiot Plonsky. The only thing he could do right now that I would question is to do nothing. That may turn out to be his best/only option. But from the outside, it would look bad.
  14. It is cool, that's the video of the bullet impacts from the students that were shooting back if I remember correctly. Yes even back then we had smokeless powder and nothing made that much smoke.
  15. Mathematically impossible. And even if it was possible, it would be a flash in pan compared to repeated large donations. Be happy we have big donors, and they are interested in the University.
  16. Sorry, attempt at a joke from several posts back.
  17. Who is no Herman?
  18. Good point, I try not to think about them on a normal day!
  19. I don't think you have to worry, I don't think meth-heads watch football.
  20. Do they rant on the pay sites? Maybe I have a future there if so.
  21. I don't want to debate the playoffs. It is the reality we have right now. Since we entered this era, the list of relevant teams is about 6 teams long and we are not on that list. Those teams that are relevant have a tremendous recruiting edge. That edge leads to more success, and more playoff exposure. Not unlike the era of limited TV exposure. Texas was always on TV and had a serious recruiting edge. Guys really wanted that kind of exposure and they still do. If the playoffs expand it won't significantly change this dynamic. And IMO backing into a #7 slot just isn't going to move the perception needle. Moving that needle is why we need to make a big splash hire at coach. Some have said that we shouldn't spend the money in this environment (although they are not usually Texas fans.) I think we need to be bold. The downside would be, if we don't get it done and we have spent a bunch of money for nothing. Even under that scenario, the donors keep pumping money in. The upside is we join the relevant list. If we (pun intended) pull in our horns, the donations will start to dry up almost immediately. We continue the slide in recruiting and best case, we are stuck here until we do get the splash hire. Worst case, we become a warm weather Nebraska. The playoffs have created a significant "barrier to entry" to the top spots, we need to climb that barrier. Rant over.
