  1. I think I can live with that.
  2. We have mitigated it it somewhat. But if you're waiting for "leaders" or government to protect you or solve any of your problems, you're liable to be waiting a long time.
  3. I would watch that game RIGHT NOW if they would play it.
  4. Always good to see a scientist dedicated to science with no political agenda!
  5. The most important stuff you could leave them, you already have given.
  6. I'd be a lot better off the other way around. They already said they would give the donation and ticket money back if cancelled, but they started sending me videos and letters from athletes and coaches a few weeks ago, telling me how much they appreciated my LHF donation. Even got a personal phone call. Then yesterday, I got a letter from the University asking me to call and discuss my estate planing and how I could leave them something. Sounds like it's all hands on deck.
  7. 1. Normal season 2. Partial season with full conference schedule . 3. Partial season with half full stadium. 4. Partial season, empty stadium. 5. Partial season in the fall. 6. No season, but a LOT of begging to keep your Longhorn Foundation money. So, is this about where we are on the list?
  8. Can we still call them "Nachos" or is that cultural appropriation?
  9. So nachos at Arrowhead, 'bout a $100 now?
  10. I'd have to agree with you, but this is the view in hindsight. These kids have gotten to the point of college and they don't see it the same way. Can't say as I blame them, I couldn't wait to get out of my folks house. I also agree that it's just not the same education, and you're correct that gainful employment or even some kind of internship is not likely a realistic approach in the current situation. So, you can't get a job, you can't get an internship, and even if you have money and wanted to "hike across Europe" there are a number of obstacles in the way, and a lot of stuff closed. Add in, that they may not let you re-enroll. Who would have thought we would be having half full cafes and airplanes and closed bars, so who knows what re-enrollment might look like. Yes, paying full boat at UT for a mostly or full online experience is not the same. But putting your life on hold doesn't work for most of the kids either. Maybe you'll get some refund down the road, but either way I don't think it's quite the same view to the kids as it seems from our perspective.
  11. My guess is that they CAN get away with this for a short period. Maybe three semesters. The incoming Freshmen are just off the adrenaline rush of getting their acceptance letters and are excited about going "off" to college. Should things square up in a year or so. They will shift back into going to class and graduate "on time" with no asterisk on their diploma. Again, just my gut feeling, but I think they would start to feel the pressure a lot more with next years incoming class. If they see, one third the number of applications then they will know they have to act.
  12. Even if we tried to have a partial schedule (to account for a few schools being no shows). I just can't see how we account for say all of the DB's being sick or quarantined for 2 games. Also, I just wouldn't get the same joy out of a victory if the other team had their 3rd string O line in. I've already decided that short of a major turn around (namely a vaccine) I'm watching from home. God knows I'd enjoy seeing a real game, but it's just not in the cards right now.
  13. I don't think we will have to worry about it, but It would probably feel like an old Cotton Bowl game, so yeah, kinda weird walking around with everything closed up. The only plus was how much easier it was to get in and out of the stadium. Far outweighed by no Hans Muller Bratwurst.
  14. And perhaps not even in the top 10 most transferred microbe/virus!
  15. So out of thousands of donations of millions dollars, you're going with that being representative? Have you met more rich assholes or poor assholes?
  16. Silly me, I always thought if someone wanted to donate millions of their own money that they might be pretty generous souls. Is there an income level where you become an "asshole"or is it based on net worth or giving?
  17. I think this was started under Patterson. It used to come with the package, but suddenly it was "unfair" that sometimes these spaces went unused or (the horror) were given to friends of the ticket holder. But yeah, it's just another of Patterson's efforts to squeeze every penny while ignoring the product.
  18. For a lot of us it wouldn't be a problem, I'd watch what I wanted, record the 2nd favorite and skip the rest.
  19. Covid, Murder Hornets and Patterson. I'd really rather think of anything else.
  20. Side point is how well you may be treated by any organization public or private, even if you are considered "best in the business".
  21. Is your friend accepting bets from strangers?
  22. How much would it be worth to you, in dollars, not to get sick. I'm talking just normal flu. Say, 4 days you feel like crap, fever, vomiting. No long term effects. Everyone may have a different answer but I'd gladly give up a few thousand bucks than go through it. Now if you were to throw in the unknowns with the "Chinese virus". I'd probably rather give up a new car than go through it. As such, I've decided I won't be attending any games this fall. I fully expect them to either try and play them with a reduced capacity or try and play them in the spring. Going in the Spring would be something I'd consider but that's a long way down the road.
  23. I've spent a lifetime looking for the sweet spot!
