  1. Who suggested that? However, if we ever want to climb out of the hole we’ve been in continuity IS a consideration. Short of Charlie Strong levels of ineptitude, firing a coach after 3 years is counterproductive.
  2. I think it could be structured properly, so I don't think "Any" extension would be a mistake. The 3-4 year coaching spiral has been at least as destructive as anything Patterson or Strong did to us, and yet some continue to chase lightning in a bottle and dismiss obvious progress as insufficient. With a two season sample size at UT DKR was 13-7-1 and at his previous stops his H.C. record was 17-13. I wonder what our history would look like if we fired him after his 4th season (1960 7-3-1). I am not saying that Sark is the next DKR, but IMO it's time to stop chasing our tail. I used to love it when the Aggies would fire their coach every few years, it means what it always does. A few more years of changes, with the usual "he has to get his guys", "He needs to make some coordinator changes", ect. cycle and repeat
  3. Long version--I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that compatibility wasn't high enough on your list and that as a younger man you were distracted by some other attributes that were less important in the long term. Short version-Big boobs or a nice ass?
  4. 55 plays 27 long Texas-34 K St-24
  5. As much as I dislike this SOB, is there anything worse than listening to Andre Ware or Dusty (I damn near killed my best friend) Dvoracek?
  6. Probably not the best idea to tell the world where you are staying, along those lines can we take up a collection and flood the hotel with crack whores?
  7. TX-42 OSU-31 26-272 yds
  8. Now that we have a moment of endorphin rush, is it finally visible to all that this logic doesn't hold? If it did then Charlie's and Tom's past records of winning would have continued unabated because "that's what they are". There's too many moving parts to pick one and say that's the whole picture. This was a great week, but the jury is still out and will be for a while. It's also possible that a coach can be pretty good, have a generational talent come along and make them look great. I think that's what happened with Charlie and a guy currently living about 90 miles east of Austin.
  9. I don't use the phase much, is it proper usage to say "this thread jumped the shark!" We have been in the new coach death spiral since 2014. Stability takes time to settle things down, and youth and inexperience make for inconsistent results.
  10. Texas 42- ISU 17 48 carries for 220
  11. Texas 42 OU 27 215 Yards on the prop bet. I don't remember the year, it was in the mid '80's. Walking up and down Commerce street, getting drunk and shouting stuff was still a thing although the police presence was VERY strong and they had instituted one way sidewalks by that point. I'm in a bar on Commerce with my girlfriend at the time (crazy redhead, sorry no pictures). The bar has large windows so the throngs of people going by had a kind of crowded goldfish bowl effect. Lots of folks from both sides in the bar just watching a wall of people flowing by from left to right. Then strangely, a very old lady, perhaps in her 80's goes by. She's right up against the glass, in this crowd of mostly young drunk yelling people. It caught everyones eye in that it was unusual and some of us were worried she would end up getting trampled. About this time Mr. drunk OU fan yells out "Hey look everyone, it's Miss Texas 1935!" Well, I couldn't stop myself. I yelled out "No, it's Miss Oklahoma 1985!" Most of the bar laughs, but drunk Sooner is offended and starts to head my way. A bartender(owner maybe) who didn't want trouble in his bar executes what is today considered an illegal horse collar tackle, aided by some previously spilled beer on the floor. The Dallas cops stationed just outside see the commotion of the guy going down and starting to struggle, in they rush and cuff the guy and have him out the door so fast his buddies hardly know what happened and have to rush out to keep up. After a pause the bar erupts in a short laugh .
