  1. On Thursday morning, it was announced that the Onion had bought InfoWars at Jones’s bankruptcy auction. But later that day, the judge overseeing Jones’s bankruptcy case held an emergency hearing, during which lawyers representing Jones and a company affiliated with him expressed concerns about the auction process. The judge has ordered an evidentiary hearing for next week to determine if the auction was conducted fairly, which could delay the process. “We’re all going to an evidentiary hearing and I’m going to figure out exactly what happened,” the judge, Christopher Lopez, said in an emergency hearing on Thursday afternoon. “No one should feel comfortable with the results of this auction.” The only other bidder was First United American Companies, a company that is affiliated with one of Jones’s product-selling websites. At the emergency hearing on Thursday, a lawyer for First United American Companies took issue with the auction process, noting that no bidding round was held on Wednesday for rival parties, and that only sealed bids submitted the previous week were considered. But the trustee who oversaw the auction said he followed the judge’s rules laid out in a September order, which made the overbidding round optional. The exact bid amount offered by the Onion for InfoWars remains unknown, but it has been reported it was lower than First United American’s bid of $3.5m. The Onion’s offer was seen as a better deal because some of the related Sandy Hook families agreed to forgo a portion of the sale proceeds to help pay off Jones’s other creditors. It was reported on Thursday that the Onion’s purchase of InfoWars received support from families of Sandy Hook shooting victims, to whom Jones owes $1.4bn in defamation judgments after he falsely claimed the 2012 school massacre was a hoax. In a statement on Friday to Variety, Ben Collins, the CEO of the Onion’s parent company, said: “the joint bid from Global Tetrahedron and the Connecticut families has been selected as the winning bid for Infowars”, adding “the sale is currently underway, pending standard processes.” On Thursday, after the Onion was announced as a winning bidder, the InfoWars site appeared to be down, and the site displayed a message stating that it was “unavailable until further notice”. But by Friday afternoon it was back online and running in its usual style with Jones claiming that the auction was a “hoax”. In a post, InfoWars wrote: “We are back”. Soon after, Jones posted: “The InfoWars site has been RESTORED in a massive blow to the Deep State.” If the sale goes through the Onion has said that it plans to rebuild the InfoWars website to feature internet humor writers and content creators. Jones said in his live stream: “InfoWars is back up for now, it’s being given back to the rightful owner – yours truly.”
  2. I've had you on ignore for years, so I can't say this with any certainty, but this is the dumbest thing you've ever posted on this website
  3. So you oppose the plan for across the board tariffs? Or you support them because you believe that the resulting pain will be worth it to show the libs that taxes are bad?
  4. Do you care about the below? Equivocate all you want about the events on 1/6 and the protests in the summer of 2020, but Trump spent 3 months trying to steal an election that he lost, was told that he lost, and knew that he lost. This is lifted directly from Judge David Carter's opinion in the Eastman case.
  5. Damn man, here we are trying to have a conversation about electric cars and you keep wanting to talk about sucking cock and taking it up the ass. We have other boards where that sort of talk is welcome.
  6. I've cancelled my NY Times and LA Times subs, removed Instagram and reddit my my phone. My profile on this site is all I've really got left and I removed my auto login on my phone as well. Have to do a bit of work to get back on. My goal is to stop by this site maybe 1-2 times a day. I got rid of the newspapers before the election, and the social media after. There is no doubt that Trump and co. are a threat to the nation. But I've done this before. I spent 2016-2020 doom scrolling. Every day was a new "BREAKING" news story in which Trump had broken some norm, betrayed an ally, or broken the law. And what did I do with all of that info? Nothing. Didn't motivate me to volunteer, didn't become politically engaged. I just internalized it and it would impact my day-to-do. Part of it was always thinking the "next" scandal would finally wake up my old friends, classic conservatives, and the body politic. Then the resulting frustration and disbelief that none of it mattered. I actually found the 2020 election perhaps the most demoralizing of them all. I was certain that after 4 years of Trump we'd see a collective repudiation. Nope. Election wasn't called for a couple of days due the margins in the swing states. That's what did it for me. I gave up any and all hope that our future is a place I want to be a part of. This most recent election was more a confirmation of my fears than a surprise. In a weird way, giving up hope has been freeing. Its only been a week since the election, but despite the turn for the worse in the news, I've had a lovely week. My phone pretty much stays in my pocket unless I'm texting or calling someone. Started carrying my Kindle with me again. Would recommend. So anyways, I'm done. Done reading the news. Done paying attention. I've lived in a foreign country that was, at the time, ruled by an autocratic dictator. Did I spend my days thinking about the erosions of the rule of law or the dissidents that were being tortured and killed? Nope. Just went about my day. Enjoyed life. I can certainly do the same here. So, burn it down. Or don't. Whatever.
  7. looks like someone's mid-way through their first semester of college! congrats
  8. giving money to liberals is anti-liberal?
  9. Johnny Sack: Voters have rejected Lawfare! But now that they've rejected it, we're gonna do it to you, but even harder! Running on a platform of prosecuting your political enemies is bad! Unless its Donald Trump, which I guess is ok! Racism is bad! Unless I do it and then i have to get a new username!
  10. In CA, all we hear about is how mean Democrats are to Billionaires.
  11. Same. Got home from work and just finished the last thread. But I also then got super high so I'm getting lost in links and forgetting to come back here
  12. not eating babies not having a one world order not having after-birth abortions on demand
  13. I see that @Stros121 checked in for a drive by neg. Good to see you. Did you ever get around to reading that judicial opinion I posted, describing in detail Trump's months long effort to steal the election, despite being told by everyone in his circle that the election was not stolen? Any thoughts on that?
  14. Well, he's doing everything he can to support the guy who spent over a year trying to get himself illegally installed as the POTUS after losing an election. Remember that? oh that's right, that doesn't bother you because its your "preferred political party."
  15. My first unread post on this thread. Quite the take.
  16. giving you the benefit of the doubt that you're not a troll, just to ask why you so often speak in absolutes? That's what children ages 5-8 do. Its really your position that power-crazed despots are not able to inflict the harm they desire? Would you like me to send you a dozen examples just from the last 100 years?
