  1. Not sure I follow his thinking here. TT traditionally in the Kingsbury era has been a much tougher QB depth chart than the one in Austin (Mahomes, Davis Webb, Mayfield). Plus as mentioned, a pretty good looking freshman QB starting now as well as a pretty athletic soph in Duffey waiting for a chance to play, and Maverick McIvor arriving in Dec. UT has recruited well at QB as of late and as a TT fan I'd love to have him, but I just don't see it happening.
  2. Not so much a late riser, he's been a 4 star since the get go. It's just that Parker committed to TT way back in May of 2017 and has remained steadfast in his commitment since then, kind of throwing cold water on the typical competitive recruiting process. Pretty good player.
  3. Tech site quotes TT commit Steven Parker today as saying Herman and staff are still really "pushing" him for a visit. Says he is 99% Tech unless something major happens like a coach firing. I'll note 99% is not 100%. Through six games at S. Oak Cliff, Parker has 48 tackles, 15 sacks, 19 tfl, and 4 forced fumbles. We'll see what happens.
  4. Additionally, Powell's football footballing roots are in Midland, a place with an incredible amount of Tech Influence. Opening day NFL rosters had more TT WRs than any school in the country. That means a lot to some kids.
  5. Your skills of perception are to be admired. If only all of us had the skill to form hard and fast judgments regarding landscape and architecture pertaining to places we've never been.
  6. Oh, I'm aware. Just thought his timing and the fact it was his third visit was a little interesting. Believe me, I'm hardly putting him in the committed to TT column. He has demonstrated more than a passing interest though.
  7. Not sure what it means, the Tech Rivals site says they have confirmed Peyton Powell will be in Lubbock this week end. Has visited Tech 3 times previously I believe it is.
  8. So so. Not really among the top tier DB's. Has gotten some playing time tho due to TT DB's being MIA for a variety of reasons. Played 40 snaps against TCU, but graded out third from the bottom of all defensive players according to Rivals grading system for whatever that's worth.
  9. It was at the point where it was not an upset, but rather the norm. During Leach's tenure he beat A&M 7 out of 10 times. And speaking of aggy, you post a lot like one.
  10. I won't pretend I know who will win UT/TT at this point. I believe I recall UT giving up 370 yards to TCU, however. That's not a lot of difference. I think I also recall UT being the beneficiary of 4 TCU turnovers. I also get a kick out of the frequent references in this thread to TT losing to ol Miss, like UT didn't lose to a mediocre at best Maryland. While I won't bore you with the reasons for their loss, there were explanations. It happens.
  11. For the record he's been arrested a total of one time, and that was for a misdemeanor. i feel like his detractors here have been a little overboard in their criticism of him tonight. He's a third teamer who had virtually no experience getting his first start on the road against what is not a bad defense. Thought he got better as the game progressed. He was 13 of 24 passing with 83 yards rushing and one passing TD and one running TD. Had one interception that was the equivalent of perhaps TTU's best punt of the night. Was sacked twice which given TT's OL injuries wasn't too bad. He's certainly not without issues, but I'm not sure how realistic the expectations of him were to find great fault with his performance tonight.
  12. Not sure what the deal was with him. Seems like there's got to be a story there of some sort. TCU, Tech, Notre Dame, and Baylor were all schools that were recruiting him (and that he showed interest in) and then backed off. He looks great on video.
  13. Has two offers now, Howard and Seton Hill.
  14. In the article linked above by Satchel, they refer to him as the country's number one JC player. Whether that's a widely held view or not I have no idea.
  15. Another real big one TT has a good shot at getting is Duncanville's Jahmius Ramsey. Per CBS Sports, the guard is the 33rd rated player in the country overall and sixth rated combo guard. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/texas-tech-lands-2019-big-man/ To this point, Beard is doing a really nice job recruiting.
  16. Yep, play TCU on an ESPN Thursday night game. Per Kliff today,, Bowman's lung is 40% collapsed.
  17. You remember major disappointment, Leon Mackey? He had a partially collapsed lung and missed two games. Someone told a story of running into him after the recovery period and him saying his ribs were still bothering him. Not ideal for a QB if the situation is similar. Don Williams tweeted WebMD says a week or two for recovery I believe it was. Off week for TT is pretty timely. TCU too I suppose.
  18. Per Kliff, partially collapsed lung for Bowman. Return date uncertain, but apparently like Douglas MacArthur he shall.
  19. It's pretty easy to rag on Duffey for this one. He really didn't do all that bad for a third stringer who was playing meaningful snaps for literally the first time. TT won 24-7 or some such after he came in. Just from what I hear, Bowman's injury appears to be a collar bone. So, we could be seeing more of our friend Jett.
  20. Yeah and most of that was compiled in the wasteland that was TT football during Tuberville and Kingsbury. It's like looking at a series record against Kansas State. The before Bill Snyder record doesn't mean shit. Gundy is 11-3 against TTU. Sound familiar?
  21. Series record= TT leads 22-21-3
