  1. Trust me on this. It adds up. The art of the deal for the 5 Tech regents who voted 5-4 to oust Duncan, was to nix the vet school without appearing they are directly doing so. It would play much better for their reputations to let it seem on the surface , "well, we tried, but it just died in the legislature". They clearly anticipated some public reaction and seek to have no visible dirt on their hands. Interested in Tech or not, this will be a fascinating one to watch. I don't have the time or space to adaqutely cover the nuances, issues and personalities involved in this entire can of worms. The Tech alumni, media and political reaction has been even more intense and angry than even the perpetrators anticipated is my guess. TT is far from bankrupt in the political and deep pocket categories on this deal. On the other hand, A&M isn't either and Sharp, Perry, and Abbott didn't just get off a boatload of goats politically either (sheep maybe?). As I said, this one will be interesting to watch.
  2. Duncan has only been there four years. From today's Austin American Statesman: Under Duncan’s watch, the system has raised more than $585 million in philanthropic support, and its endowment has grown by $150 million to $1.3 billion.
  3. I'm not sure the domination was quite as complete as you might have us believe. TT actually had a few more total yards offense than UT.
  4. I strongly suspect safety will be Bonney's home at Tech. They've got two starters returning at safety, but that's where Morgan was spending a lot of time during both last Spring and this Fall. Turns out Bonney knew Kliff from Kliff's coaching days at UH. Bonney's dad would bring him to UH to workout.
  5. Octavious Morgan is the Tech DB. Really good player. Injury just happened Saturday. Bonney from Big Spring? 247 and Rivals profiles show him from Houston Lamar.
  6. Southern Cal offers McIvor today. We shall see. https://www.gosanangelo.com/story/sports/high-school/football/2018/08/13/central-qb-maverick-mcivor-offered-scholarship-usc-trojans-san-angelo-university-southern-california/981375002/
  7. Yeah, a real shame for the kid. Wasn't what can be your typical JC type. Did everything you asked of him and more. Wasn't just playing well, but really well.
  8. Third raise for Tadlock since May 2016. He deserves it.
  9. Those ags were 3-7 against Leach. Big fun it was. Leach and his pirate can beat a soldier quote.
  10. Leach makes yet another weatherman appearance recently when in Lubbock for a book signing. The original one was 2004. He is every bit as candid as usual. They devote 7 minutes of their newscast to him.
  11. It has not been an uncommon occurrence for NFL coaches and KK to spend off season time together exchanging thoughts pertaining to offense. He has extensive NFL contacts. Other head coaching shortcomings aside, one must admit he's been pretty successful offensively.
  12. I strongly doubt it as well. If KK gets fired this year, he's headed to the NFL.
  13. Very true. I recall one year at Tech where his defense finished something like 22nd overall in the country. I suppose it's due to his then prolific offenses that this false, no defense stereotype continues to exist. Another criticism from the haters that cracks me up is the continuing drumbeat that he never won a conference title. While true of course, it implies there's absolutely no difference in say, an 11 win season, and a one win season. It's absurd of course, and is a better than decent example of them trying a little too hard.
  14. Noticed where he's a 4 star in some corners. Still valid, maybe not, but offer list shows offers from A&M and OU among others. While his commitment was anticipated, still a nice get by Kliffy.
  15. You couldn't be more wrong. When you talk about running the ball and imply one has to be able to run the ball for the sake of balance Leach will tell you you are inaccurately defining balance. He explains it here and it makes some sense. https://www.cougcenter.com/2013/6/3/4360000/using-data-to-assess-the-balance-of-mike-leachs-air-raid-at-wsu Mediocre football, I'm not so sure. He's been PAC 12 coach of the year, Big 12 coach of the year, won the Woody Hayes and George Munger awards for national coach of the year and so on. Leach has taken arguably the worst Power 5 program in the country to 9 win seasons 2 of the last 3 years. He ended his tenure at Tech being nationally ranked five of his last 6 years there. The one season he wasn't he won 8 games btw. Tech had four seasons of nine wins or more while he was there, at one point being ranked as high as 2nd in the country 8 games into the season. Mediocre? Like I said, I'm not so sure.
  16. Tech will also play Duke on Dec. 20 in Madison Square Garden.
  17. Really good QB. 20 plus offers. Georgia recruited him very hard. Tech wanted him over Maverick McIvor. Leach actually doing some recruiting in Texas. Hasn't had much luck though.
  18. I'm old, so I've seen a lot of football players. Likewise, honesty compels me to admit I'm a Tech fan. But watching him game in and game out, I can say without reservation I believe Gabe may be the best football player I ever saw. He was truly amazing. To this day, people still talk about a play, similar to the one above, where he ran down maybe some 60 yards down the field a RB for the then number one ranked U of Washington.
  19. Read the other two myself as well, one of them my own gin-you-ine signed copy compliments of my son. I raised him right. Yeah his visits to the Hub are always well received. In my eyes and apparently in the eyes of most, what's not to like? And that dating and marriage stuff is indeed tip top.
  20. Have real doubts about TT being the favorite. This may have been covered in the above mentioned article as I can't access it, but TT is willing to let him play some offense which appeals to him. Friends with another kid TT is recruiting pretty hard. Fwiw, says he will visit TT and LSU this summer and that his previous final four are no longer valid.
  21. Kind of interesting he feels so comfortable returning to Lubbock. We all know what ButtFumble will be doing Monday.
  22. Caitlyn Jenner could have been a masked rider? Who knew? I guess though, she does qualify as being a member of that select group who is only mostly female. It's kind of interesting that so many of us here have the banned thing in common. Perhaps a commentary on the culture here. I've been banned from pretty much every TT site multiple times as well.
  23. Amanda did alright by me. She let some friends and me have our own forum that was not listed publicly. More than decent of her and it was appreciated.
  24. RP is so bad it's literally intolerable for me. Haven't even visited in I couldn't even tell you when and don't plan on doing so. Not an option. Been a member over on Red Raider Sports for years and they do on occasion present some worthwhile news, though with twitter, their value has diminished greatly. Most of the posters are really bad, not to mention unknowledgeable. The guy that runs the board is a complete asshole IMO and the owner/publisher is on TT's payroll so you can imagine how much candor and actual truth you get. I hear stories of a "secret", invitation only message board that's not bad.
