  1. You don't have the slightest clue what you're talking about. Brady and Kingsbury are close friends and know each other very well. Belichick and the Pats drafted KK in 2003 and he worked with them for over a year before going to the Saints. As he has maintained a relationship through the years, the organization knows him very well and vice versa.
  2. I can relate from a business context. Its a no win for the employer. Don't let the employee go and you've got a prisoner working for you. Go ahead and let him him take off and you're without the employee. Can't win for losing. True or not, beats me, but I've heard it's possible to get around this in the NFL by being able demonstrate you, the employee, contacted the team as opposed to vice versa. Maybe we'll find out.
  3. I certainly agree, but IMO the leadership skills required at the pro and college level vary significantly.
  4. Not exactly accurate to suggest KK has "zero" NFL experience. Though his playing career was less than awe inspiring, he had a five year pro career with 3 in the NFL, one in NFL Europe, and a year in the CFL. As a Tech fan, I've been saying here for over a year, that his next stop upon being canned would be in the NFL. It was just generally considered common knowledge. He has extensive pro contacts and summer pick his brain sessions with with a variety of NFL coaches who sought them out were very common. Tight with Belichick, Brady and the Pats front office as they're the ones who drafted him but numerous others as well. The numbers of QBs and WRs alone, that he's put in the NFL is a testament to his understanding about what it takes in that aspect of the game on the pro level.
  5. Could be a tougher than average get for Herman and staff. Officially visiting TT on Jan 25 after having made other unofficials there. Committed to TT during the summer. Said he wanted to look around after staff change. Still in very close contact however. Other than TT, hearing from KU, UH and UT the most. Former TT staffer, Emmett Jones, is now at KU so that's the connection there. Former TT DC, David Gibbs, will be Holgersen's DC at UH, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him visit there also. As I mentioned, he committed to TT this past summer so his relationships with those ex TT coaches go back quite a while. Has a teammate committed to Tech as well.
  6. I've don't think I've ever seen a college coach seem as genuinely depressed as Huggins appeared in his post game press conference. Worth watching a little of just because it's so unusual.
  7. Fwiw, former Tech commit and current target North Shore DB, Keeyon Stewart, quoted today as saying he's hearing from UT among others.
  8. My post re Kliff and the NFL in the "Kingsbury is out" thread below........ My take on that is the head coaching skills that are both so incredibly important in the college game and his Achilles heel, aren't present to any great degree in the NFL. Those being primarily interpersonal types of skills that are so critical in college in order to recruit, schmooz boosters, woo the local media, kiss up to donors, be a just regular local community guy around town, etc. aren't that vital to success in the NFL. The guy was an extreme introvert, so much more so than most realize. He's clearly a great offensive mind and easily owns the technical skills needed to be a successful head coach in the NFL IMO.

  10. Kingsbury to get NFL head coaching interviews. https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-kliff-kingsbury-get-head-coaching-interviews-jets-cardinals-232458625.html
  11. USC OC/former Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury has declined “a lucrative offer” to become coach at Houston, source told @WatchStadium. WVU’s Dana Holgorsen is UH’s next target, source said. This according to Bret McMurphy tonight.
  12. Former TT asst. and newly hired Emmett Jones offering TT recruits right and left. Extensive South Oak Cliff and area connections.
  13. Have no idea if accurate or not, but Tech gets a commitment today from what 247 lists as the top punter in the country, Austin McNamara from Gilbert, Ariz. Full offers from ASU, Ariz, Nebraska, Missouri, and Utah State. Numerous pwo offers. Tech fans would hope he doesn't have to make too many appearances.
  14. Tech gets what appears to be a better than decent inside receiver transfer. Freshman All-American in 2017, caught 50 passes for 875 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore in 2018. All Conference in MW.
  15. From Coach K: https://mobile.twitter.com/CollieronTV/status/1075994065483771904?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1075994065483771904&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ftexastech.forums.rivals.com%2Fthreads%2Fsiap-coach-k-had-some-high-praise-for-our-guys-post-game.117948%2F
  16. Visited TCU this past week end. Visiting TT this week end.
  17. He may just do that, I'm not sure. His dad played at Baylor. That said, he's probably visited TT maybe 5 times, twice after his UT commitment. I'm still not thoroughly convinced that the QB as important to him as many here suggest. One, I've heard him say that and two, BU has a really good QB already committed. He was Ga.'s first pick (and Kliff's too for that matter). At TT he's got 3 years to sit behind Bowman. There's also Duffey and McIvor. So could be BU, who knows? Not entirely sure what what this means, if anything. From TT commit and high school teammate Landon Peterson. "You know the move". https://mobile.twitter.com/petersonlandon5/status/1073378926523748352?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1073378926523748352&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ftexastech.forums.rivals.com%2Fthreads%2Fpeyton-powell.117541%2F
  18. Additionally, potentially a million dollars more per year in incentives.
  19. Fwiw, would have agreed, but happened to hear today from a prominent resident of Wellington who frequently talks with Trevor Roberson and he allowed as how OU, Ark, Bama, LSU as well as others are all still "trying real hard" with TR. There's a coach on the Wellington staff that went to high school with Wells.
  20. Not an absurd stereotype, but virtually everyone would agree it's an inexact science to be sure. That really doesn't matter though as you're really over thinking this. My original point was there are multiple coaches who have demonstrated it's clearly possible to recruit to Lubbock. Even cited examples. The football program has had six years of being headed by an awful recruiter, then faced with a coaching change only days before the early signing period. And you want to blame their less than stellar ranking purely on location? If it was purely location, it would be across the board and Beard, Tadlock, Kittley, etc. woudn't be able to recruit either. You're trying way too hard.
  21. Not likely now. He had been committed to TT for quite a while before Kliff's departure. Visited Ark and Missouri the last 2 weeks. Came down to Ark and TT. Fwiw, Rivals has Ark's class at number 11 nationally.
  22. Pretty nice get this afternoon for Tech's Wells. OT Trevor Roberson announces for Tech. Huge kid whose profile shows offers from Ga, ND, USC, A&M, Oregon, TCU, etc. Never had publically announced his decommitment but was entirely butt hurt over KK's firing and had taken visits the last two weeks. Many assumed he was gone.
  23. Utter nonsense. When it comes to college baseball, virtually everyone in the entire country, including UT, does it primarily with white guys. And have you seen the TT basketball team play a game? Most certainly there are nuances that differ in recruiting varying sports. In the final analysis though, they're the same--you've got to get them to go to your school as opposed to another. Got any more absurd stereotypes? It's fun playing make believe.
