  1. Time for the bi-annual Shoal Creek Saloon hose down?
  2. when you say "few and far between", do you mean very few people can afford them or do you mean very few companies even offer them so you may not be able to find one even if you can afford one in a high risk areas?
  3. This feed has been occasionally showing the room without audio, as the official PC hasnt started yet
  4. Have you heard any projections on where they expect it to top out?
  5. https://www.texasobserver.org/trump-texas-doge-cuts-disaster-aid/ I know some will write the commentary off because its in a liberal rag, but somewhat crazy that the dude publishes the article just hours before central Texas gets turbo-fucked by a scenario that is getting more and more common. And the rubes want to keep licking trump/abbot's balls.
  6. Even 670 wouldnt shock me when its all said and done. But having to open any floodgates would.
  7. Just cracked 50% but yeah, the amount needed to fill the top 10 feet is a hell of a lot more than is needed to fill the first 10 feet.
  8. good portions of austin metro has received 3+ inches in the last 48 hours, its not like its been bone dry. Other than taking some of the brunt off of areas that have been pounded, its not like we need more at this point.
  9. Your article is wrong. There were forecasts (by the NWS, I believe) on Thursday indicating rain levels up to 7 inches in areas that included the Guadalupe river basin. Nobody is arguing that a lot of rain came down. That doesn't automatically exclude the possibility that critical errors by local authorities didn't also compound matters.
  10. Thanks to DOGE, a lot of former NOAA staff dont either. It will be interesting to watch the battle of spin here. In one corner you will have texas top politicians pushing the narrative that the forecasters are to blame and they had no inkling this rain was coming, and then in the other corner you will have people blaming the disruptions at NOAA and NWS due to staff cuts, in the other other corner you will have Trump's administration insisting those cuts had no effect, and in the last other corner people will probably be blaming Biden. My gut tells me that some loss of life was probably unavoidable due to the magnuitude of the event, and general incompetence by local authorities compounded matters. Inexcusable to have that many kids camping on a river in the hill country when forecasts for 7 inches of rain at the high end were put out the day before.
  11. Watch the Shank cook....
  12. There were models yesterday showing up to 7 inches of rain was possible. That alone should be enough for the camps to move campers away from low lying areas, and if they weren't aware the local authorities should have made sure they were aware. As it turns out the rainfall was quite a bit more in some areas, but that doesn't mean there wouldn't have been flooding just based on the top end of the flood watches issued 7/3. I can't help but think somewhere there was a breakdown in communication OR there was never a communication plan in place. And thats the reason for the behavior at the press conference earlier.
  13. They were too busy patting each other on the back. This almost seems like their primary purpose of this PC is to establish a narrative that every action taken was as good as it could be.
  14. What a couple of useless twats
  15. Yup he'll actively drive towards the next one.
  16. Yup. Joey really spread his wings... Without that reliable "L" on the schedule, they spring-boarded into a 6-3 record.
  17. World Central Kitchen has a good reputation, and they are on their way. https://wck.org/news/centraltexas-flooding-25 If they determine their resources are needed, you can presumably donate on the homepage.
  18. What the fuck does your reply have to do with the post you are replying to?
  19. The map legend would say its more like 2-3 miles, and if you zoom in on google maps you can see plenty of big fucking houses probably a couple hundred feet away. Have no idea if they are elevated on a cliff, etc.....
  20. They missed a golden opportunity to navigate the parade route in reverse. At a minimum, spin him around 180 deg.
  21. Listen man, we all witnessed Born to Run trying to sling his wood earlier. Can't blame JS1 for shooting.
  22. Yeah, I remember there were washing machines and shit in some of the trees way above us that didn't topple. I will always remember how impossible it seemed that just a few days before where we were standing there was a raging river way above our heads. Well, that and Beau Vine's beast of a dog's startlingly loud farts. Zeus?
  23. I hunted this down ready to purchase, but even if it was in stock, at $800 I guess I dont want it bad enough. https://www.travischapmanart.com/product-page/back-up-terry-fireworks-original-painting-16-x-20-on-canvas
  24. there is no "may" about it. damn you gotta be fast around here.
