  1. Nobody is asking that they get paid more than the NBA players.
  2. Many schools are already 8 figures deep in allocating general funds to their athletic departments (you can a lot of data here: https://knightnewhousedata.org/) Its funny that you mention UH, as before this ruling they are already into general funds and student fees for $48 f'n million dollars. There is a limit to how much they can tap as overall university costs/funding are a struggle. I disagree that Universities have been looking for a way to shift money into the AD....they've been doing it for years out of necessity. I'll spoiler the data to not longcat the thread, but its surprising how much some schools already have to do this. You can have an opinion, but ultimately its not the individual schools that will make that decision. If it was up to athletic departments, there wouldn't be a Title IX in the first place. https://www.kxnet.com/sports/ap-with-college-athletes-on-cusp-of-revenue-sharing-there-are-title-ix-questions-that-must-be-answered/#:~:text=Michael LeRoy%2C a University of,with directing payments to athletes.
  3. He's the dude that wrote "On Liberty" you uneducated bumpkin.
  4. Messi, Suárez, and Busquets aren't gonna make it with the team to Vancouver this weekend. Vancouver FC trying to get out ahead of the outrage. Honestly 50% off food and bev is a pretty decent offering for something they have zero control over
  5. Thats a neat story but I don't think they are related.
  6. He had moved onto Miss St when I was at UT. The only thing I recall was the bull castration incident. You can take a dipshit out of aggy, but you cant take the aggy out of a dipshit. If it involves a farm animal's testicles, you know someone on that staff had spent time in the Station. Guaranteed.
  7. Way back in the day I had a sales gig in the Bay Area, and as our company was headquartered in Sunnyvale, they sprung for a box at the old candlestick park. For the limited 49ers games, all the executives would hoover up tickets and invite their buddies or executives from our biggest customers, and it was impossible to ever get space there. But for the giants games (of which there were 82), it was amazing how many times the box would sit empty. I would invite customers all the time, but Candlestick was such a pain in the ass to get to from anywhere with traffic, it was rare they could make a weekday game. And most engineers were busy as fuck and didn't care about the shitty Giants anyway. My boss knew I lived in SF and drove past Candlestick on the way home, so he would occasionally (5-6 times a summer) drop me the tickets in the afternoon and I'd just call my roommates/friends and we'd live it up. We were all transplants so nobody gave a fuck about the Giants either, but we were united in our fandom of free food and booze.
  8. https://www.kut.org/energy-environment/2024-05-22/austin-early-heat-hot-temperatures-may-weather I plan on spending August with relatives in Mass, and once the national parks empty out after labor day hitting up Montana, Wyoming, Utah again on a National parks trip. Fuck living in satan's asshole. Shit I may try to find an airbnb in colorado for July. I can probably survive June if I know it will be the end of it .
  9. Yeah it was close, but I would guess 75% of the time it wouldnt be called interference.

  11. I'm just bitter because I parlayed the Over with Indy +9.5. Now I have a pretty good idea of whats gonna happen, lulz.
  12. The last three Pacer possessions had me looking for Shaka on the Pacers bench.
  13. Indiana trying their best to fuck this one up.
  14. To that list of accomplishments I would add "Actually influenced me to choose to watch a women's college basketball game. Actually more than one game." That's something that no other woman (white, black, good-looking, ugly, etc...) has come close to doing. I find the sport to be an absolute beating to watch, full of slow athletes fighting to rebound missed layups standing flat-footed. But she has that must watch quality, the mythical "It factor." I would wager a fair amount of money that next years women's final game ratings will be closer to 2022 than they will be to 2024. What was different about the last two championship games......hmmmm? That's why she is the story. That's why she is getting paid.
  15. At the rate our species is fucktarding itself, we have a better than outside chance of reverting to the dark ages before I kick the bucket.
