  1. Dana Brown's response to pg 306 after Kikuchi's 11 Ks and all those swings and misses
  2. He thought it was his and then later drank from it.
  3. this fucking guy
  4. Predictable response from Astros fans re: Tucker
  5. I'm fine with the deadline passing without acquiring a bat if it meant not giving up another prospect haul. Hitting is not our dire need, it was always about the pitching and we at least addressed it by getting a serviceable SP3/4 and another lefty reliever. Pitching is what will take us deep into October and one thing this organization has consistently shown is an ability to find hidden pitching gems that bear fruit later in the year.
  6. Kikuchi and Ferguson have some warts but I like our chances of squeezing some juice out of those arms the way we have so far with Tayler Scott, Bryan King, and Kaleb Ort. All of those guys are strike throwers who don't walk a lot of hitters and have above average K:BB %s so I'm optimistic about the deals for the 2024 season. We are a better team today than we were yesterday.
  7. Our outfield doesn't suck when Tucker is in it.
  8. Dana isn't trading Brice Matthews. That's his baby.
  9. Well, afaik he hasn't been promoted yet to Sugar Land.
  10. Miller and Murphy are still around?
  11. Exactly. Shit, even Mike F'n Fiers and Jake Odorizzi.. Win the fucking WS and let Dana have the last laugh.
  12. I'd feel a lot better about these moves if this organization actually had a history of taking middling pitching castoffs and turning them into pretty damn good pitchers. This just smacks of more of the same..... Chas?
  13. Bleacher Report you say?
  14. Except many teams are experiencing the same trend of pitcher injuries. I think it's related to MLB cracking down on the sticky stuff and the emphasis on high velo/spin rates.
  15. I didn't have high expectations for Bloss for the remainder of the season given his inexperience and uncertainty wrt durability. We can at least feel confident that Kikuchi will avoid the IL and log innings.
  16. Good writeup on Kikuchi here https://orangefire.substack.com/p/kikuchis-effective-stuff-and-durability I think Josh Miller and Co work some magic with his stuff and he helps stabilize the rotation.
  17. No doubt, but there were still questions about the state of our rotation going into the season and plenty of options available. Remember the Blake Snell talk back in March? Stroman? Wacha? Seth Lugo?
  18. I get your point and generally agree with it, BUT.....even Dana Brown admitted in the press conference last night that he basically had to overpay to get a starting pitcher because names were coming off the board and he wasn't willing to come away from the trade deadline without a starting pitcher to buffer the rotation.
  19. The more egregious screwup imo is being in this situation in the first place. Had they added starting pitching depth in the offseason, we aren't desperate to make a move for a pitcher at the trade deadline.
