  1. nah it's way more fun to argue about how awesome Framber is.
  2. which ones? they extended McCullers, Altuve, Bregman, Yordan, and now Javier. They tried to extend Keuchel but he turned down a very good offer. Same with Correa. It's time to give Framber his money.
  3. I also know that extreme cut-throat business practices very likely cost them a chance at extending George Springer and hopefully Jim Crane learned from that. If the front office maximized the arbitration process and exerted maximum control over Framber without ever making a good-faith, fair extension offer, I think that could have a trickle down effect with other players and be a very bad look for the organization. As tx 3 putt said, it's all about the numbers and I'm not arguing for a 8 year/250 mm deal here but I think we all would agree that Framber Valdez is very underpaid vs his peers and deserves a raise.
  4. you know that is not how these contracts are valued or negotiated. past performance is very much a part of the bottom line figures they settle on and teams routinely pay bigger money to aging players in the back end of contracts knowing there's a good chance the player's performance will fall off.
  5. Yeah that's where I'm at as well. I think a 5 yr deal with 18 million average is a worthwhile offer for both sides and it takes care of Framber for life while also giving him the chance to pursue another deal in his mid-30's if he's still showing out.
  6. I'm aware of the argument, but the point is Framber imo is an outlier (as he's always been throughout his career) and worth extending because of the relatively light wear-and-tear on his arm vs peers his own age and his excellent pitching repertoire. He's not just a groundball pitcher, he's the best groundball pitcher in MLB and it really isn't close. Also, he has earned a payday with his performance thus far and deserves to be rewarded commensurate with his achievements.
  7. Y'all are crazy to think Framber shouldn't be extended. He's way better than Keuchel ever was.
  8. I'm still negotiating my "Melanie" tattoo with Mrs. Gourmand.
  9. that fat old fuck? more like this (*unless said recipient is Ivanka, in which case he's probably hitting the crown molding)
  10. Excelent SOTU And the Magats just can't help but be their worst selves at all times.
  11. Suicaine Gratification is one of the most underrated albums ever imo and I can't believe it's almost 24 years old. I stood alone on that stage Just like a stone on a grave You could be my lover I'd make you laugh Or just another epitaph I'm a bad idea whose time has come And I'll never forget Where I started from I'm the fugitve kind You better make up your mind I can't wait You can run-run-run-run away with me But never from your fate
  12. four years later and this post is still spot-on
  13. Good to see new blood replacing these shitty old farts who suck at their job. https://theathletic.com/4140128/2023/02/06/mlb-new-umpires/
  14. You lucky assholes get to sneak a peek of the ball he hit over the right field fence vs Cincy at Enron Field on May 14, 2000 for his 5th HR of the season, right at my drunk young dumb face. It was kinda crazy hearing the spin on that laser as it hit me right in the palm of my right hand. I lost a beer but many were bought for me right after.
  15. Looking for a reputable arborist in the Round Rock area. Recs?
  16. Like many of y'all here, our oak tree in our front yard took a beating from this ice storm and I'm pretty damn bummed about it. Honestly can't tell if it we will have to just trim off the damage or if it's worse than that. Thankful it didn't damage our house or our neighbors' vehicles.
  17. unless she sleeps in the raw with armybrat
  18. Well this is starting to suuuckkk
  19. I either forgot or never realized that Tucker was an undrafted free agent that year signed by Baltimore. Crazy that four kickers were drafted in 2012 (Fat Randy, Legatron, Blair Walsh, John Potter) and none were named Justin Tucker.
  20. Is this sarcasm or are you talking about Legatron?
  21. that's a great story. Kubiak had some good moments as head coach and this Arian Foster/Andre Johnson/Owen Daniels fantasy owner loved what he brought to the offense in those years the Texans didn't suck.
  22. For all the shit he took, Gary Kubiak's coaching staffs seeded some impressive head coaching talent.
