  1. You've never noticed Altuve bunting or the Astros trying a suicide squeeze?
  2. I hate Marsh even more now than when he was with the shitty Rangels
  3. the feeling of "Who the fuck is ________ and have I seen their posts on this thread before?"
  4. I said fuck it and am fine with the 38 second delay listening to Ford and Sparks over this babbling idiot Smoltz. Thought y'all should know.
  5. nobody in particular? I think it goes without saying that a lot of us who've spent a lot of time in this thread feel the feeling. Ya know?
  6. i am a Dusty defender, insofar as "defending the manager" is stating the obvious that games are won/lost by the players on the field and managers have fuckall to do with it. Lance McCullers sucked dick last night and nothing Dusty did or didn't do changes that fact or the fact that the Astros didn't score a run.
  7. which is worse? Smolz on the Astros World Series broadcast or all the johnnycomelatelys in the Astros thread during the World Series?
  8. Altuve leadoff double upcoming lfgooooo
  9. This series could and should be 2-1 Astros, the Astros outplayed Philly the first two games, they've been in more postseason games than any other team in MLB the last seven years or so and y'all pussies think this shit is even close to over? Philly needs two more, we need three. Stros in 7.
  10. how many times this series will Harper be granted time from the hpu when the pitcher goes to his wind-up?
  11. You are right about that, and I agree but I wasn't looking at any other matchups but my own and between work and family and shit it's easy to miss that. I definitely thought about using CBS to manage his team when I heard the news but I honestly didn't think it appropriate to bring up the minutiae of our ff league rules or whatever and just thought we'd deal with it later. Mea culpa, I could have been more direct in my concerns but I didn't think that was the time to bring it up and because week 7 was set by him I didn't look at week 8.
  12. my immediate thought when he told me the news was that his starting lineup should at least be determined by the CBS projections and not just locked in place at the time of death
  13. Yeah I have a couple of work buddies I was thinking of hitting up for it. Still, this week's result is complete bullshit to me. The guy had Dalvin Cook (his #1 pick) on his bench because he was on bye when he passed away and then Herbert on bye this week. It's a no-brainer that he would have had Cook and Jimmy G in his starting lineup as those were his only options to offset bye week issues and injuries. It's not even arguable.
  14. Posting this here to get some advice and feedback from you assholes on how to proceed with a very unique situation.... I was contacted by my long-time league commissioner on Tues Oct 15th that one of our league mates had passed away tragically the previous weekend. He was a close friend of a few of my league members and commish and I offered my condolences etc and didn't really think too much about the ff ramifications for obvious reasons but the commish was contacting me to let me know that he was just going to "let his team ride as is." I was stunned to hear the news because his death hit close to home as my best friend past away in April in similar circumstances and it kinda took my breath away. I wasn't exactly in the frame of mind to say "here's what I think you should do as commish...." I remember thinking to myself that the obvious answer was to keep his team as is and make starting adjustments based on CBS projections but I didn't feel comfortable saying that at the time and simply offered my condolences for the loss of his friend and deal with less important shit later. His team wins wk 7 98-76 with Dalvin Cook on his bench for his bye week (a switch he made) and now we get to week 8 and lo and behold his team still has Cook on his bench with an injured Zeke Elliot at RB1 andJeff Wilson at RB2. Also, his starting QB is Herbert on bye while he has Jimmy G on his bench. His team lost 130.3-94.6 with two goose eggs at QB and RB1. He obviously would have started both Dalvin and Jimmy G had he been alive to make those decisions, and he would have won by almost 11 pts. Seems to me that this is a result that should be retroactively changed in my league as it is a no-brainer what he would have done had he not died and imo his opponent should not get the benefit of a win just because he wasn't around to change his lineup or have the commish do it for him. What do you think and what is the best way to handle his team going forward?
  15. pretty sure it was closed out by Brad Lidge getting dogpiled by his teammates on the Philly field
  16. I don't know if anyone touched on this earlier but Yordan deserves some healthy nods and backslaps for his hustle in the bottom 5th when he hit that grounder that forced out Altuve at second and then busted his ass out of the box down the line. June/July Yordan is probably making a right turn to the dugout after GIDP'ing but his hustle on that play left the door open for Bregman and Bregman did not miss the opportunity to come up big. Love to see it.
  17. I had to work so could only steal glances at the game tonight but am currently watching the replay. It feels to me like we've outplayed them decisively these two games in Houston and should/could be up 2-0 easily. Of course, all they really hoped for in Houston was a split and they got it. So, my surly Astros brethren, how are we feeling right now after this win in game 2?
  18. are you so stupid that you can't even spell the most common expletive in the English language? Here, I'll help you: Go fuck yourself. Fuck off. Fuck you. I fucked your wife and your mom last night.
  19. eat a bag of syphilis dicks and then shit them out and eat them again
  20. Have you looked at a map of Houston? Saying you've been to Houston a lot to visit your extended family in the big ugly suburbs that support the refineries is like forming an opinion of Austin, Tx based on your travels to Nana's house in Jarrell.
  21. I hear Galena Park is beautiful this time of year.
  22. I'm old and full of Htown sports heartbreak (don't even get me started on Mike Renfro or Lorenzo Charles) so I don't EVER take this insanely unthinkable run of success for granted because it's just not something that happens to Houston sports fans. I may be in the minority here but I'm not going to be terribly sad/disappointed if the 2022 Stros don't win the World Series because, in my world, they've already proven that this generation of Astros teams has become a baseball dynasty and the envy of MLB. They can lose the WS and it won't change my opinion at all because the totality of their success ( 4 AL pennants in 6 years, 4 100+ win seasons in 6 years, 6-0 in divisional series) says a helluva a lot more than one World Series in 2022. Stros baby! That said, lesssssfuckingoooooo and win this bitch and shove it up the asses of all the haters.
